    Hi Rachel,

Until the mods see this post to move it, it might be worth re posting in the LTTTC and the LTTTC & AC threads - there are sadly, too many of us in there in similar situations

Everyone in there is very helpful, and wonderful as well so I'm sure you'll get some good feedback & advice in there

    Hi Rachel,

I've posted in your other thread. I've tried to take it from the practical side - hope it helps.

hi all and thank you s much for your replies.
to answer some of your questions yes i do trust my gynae and they can and will not operate not just the gynae but any surgeon i have seen for the adhesions so far. iam 20 years old and yes i am in a relationship and have been for nearly 3 years. im under a pain management programme for the adhesions and am going to be speaking to a counsellor. iam struggling to get my head around this. if anybody has any questions please ask. thank you take care rach xxx

    Hi Rach,

I am so sorry for you I don't really know much on this topic so I can't really give you any advice sorry. There are a lot of ladies on this site who have been through similar things as you and will be able to give you some advice. Sorry again

I'm so sorry that you have been given this information. However, to me, it all seems to be supposition from the gynae, so here are a few things that you might want to consider:

    1. Do you trust your gynae's opinion? Or would it be worth getting a second opinion? A number of people on this site have had adhesions removed to good effect.

    2. Having PCOS doesn't stop you from having children naturally - just makes it a little harder. Have you had a sugar test to see if you have insulin resistance as well? Are you using Metformin? (which helps regulate your body's acceptance of insulin). Not everyone can handle it, but it does make you feel better.

    3. Have a test called a HSG to see if your tubes are actually blocked. This is a test that puts dye in your tubes to see if they are working.

    4. If you find that your gynae is correct, the next step is to go to a Fertility clinic. However, you may not necessarily jump straight to IVF. You could try IUI first, which is less invasive - it is artificial insemination, where the sperm is inserted into your womb at the best time.

    5. If you have to go down the IVF track, that's ok too - it's not a magic bullet but a lot of people have babies this way.

    6. You haven't said if you are in a relationship, but if you are bring that person along with you to all the tests and if they are male get them tested as well. You need to know exactly where you stand.

    7. You haven't said how old you are. If you are younger you are stastically better off - but that doesn't mean that you have no chance if you are older (otherwise I wouldn't still be trying!)

The other thing I would suggest is going to a counsellor - preferably one with that has dealt with infertility - because this news is a huge shock and you may need to discuss it with an outside person. Bring your partner along if he/she will go - it will be a huge shock to them too.

Good luck - I hope this helps.
