Ok girls, time to fess up embarassing TTC moments! I've just had my first and I'm trying to make myself feel better by hopefully hearing some of your stories
Well, on the weekend I thought that I might be UTD because of some of the symptoms I was having, and being my first month off the pill I was not really prepared for a BFP so soon. SO, I did my first HPT and read all of the instructions and off I went. Well, I dipped the stick in and lo and behold the entire stick started to turn pink :eek: - all sensibility went out the window and I thought I was some sort of freak or pregnant with quadruplets. It took me a good 5 mins to come back to reality and re-read the instructions. Turns out I had not read the instructions right and I had dipped it in WAY too far….I'm such a duffer!
So has anyone else done something similar or equally as silly?
Well, it wasn't so funny for DH but it tickled MY funny bone.
I temp vaginally. DH thought he may have had a temperature and grabbed the nearest thermometer. Guess which one?
It has been sterilised and cleaned over and over again, but I did get the giggles as the realisation of WHICH thermometer it was started to appear on his face!
I'll leave it to your imaginations to fill in the blanks about what he said after that and WHERE he told me to stick my thermometer. And no, it wasn't in the location it goes to take a reading either!
Fortunately i don't have one of my own to add...well not yet. This is what happened to my sister. She and her boyfriend had a strong feeling they were pregnant. They were quite young and completely naive when it came to pregnancy and were terrified to tell anybody else about it so they thought they'd find out for sure by doing a HPT - before they shared their secret. So my sister sends her boyfriend out to buy a HPT from Coles. He returns saying he got the 'bulk pack' so they could be 100% sure "it has five in it" - he says. My sister looks at the box he bought and sees that he hasn't bought a HPT but infact a OPK. They eventually discovered they were preg - but at least they had a funny story to tell at the same time!!!!!!
i am not aware of any really - except for when I was VERY heavily sedated during an IVF egg transfer and I was apparently telling dirty jokes to my fertility specialist!!
The night my DD came running into our room while we were DTD and announced that her bed was shaking and she thought it was our dog running up and down the back stairs!
I temped Vaginally... one morning I was so tired, took my temp but forgot to take out the thermo. Alan was feeling a bit toey and went down... pops back up and tells me my temp....
LOL Tamara - you've reminded me of my other blunder when you mentioned going to the doctor.
I was having my pre-TTC doctor's appointment and was dicussing certain parts of DH's anatomy (don't ask me why ) and I got all flustered when I had to decide whether to use the medical term or the layman's term for an 'appendage' and ended up saying "his di**....I mean his co**.....oh you know what I mean" - what a shocker! And I still have to go back to that doctor!
Okay the girls in my baby buddy thread copped my embarrassing moment last month. Soooo, you know living in a foreign country with the foreign language and all... and yeps I did what iluvella's sister did and peed on the opk stick,thinking it was the hpt. And as usual got the lines and was so excited, I told my DH and my baby buddies! It was a few days before AF came and I realised my mistake. Luckily DH and buddies were understanding! What an idiot. I don't buy OPKs anymore, just to be on the safe side
