Feeling very depressed after stopping the pill

I stopped taking the pill 5 weeks ago and still havent had a proper af, just spoting and very crampy. I have been feeling utterly miserable, to the point that I am on the verge of crying just about all the time and extremely clingly (I asked one of my work collegues for a hug yesterday... lol). I am never like this normally. My DH is trying to be understanding but ive been like this for almost a week now. Is this just because Ive stopped taking the pill and my body is trying to produce its own hormones again?

I'm not sure, it could definitely be your body adjusting to coming off the pill. It might be worth talking to your GP about it?

I hope you start feeling better soon .

    Hey sezza,

Try and get some acupuncture, it helps to regulate the body and some recent studies have shown 50% improvement in depression in the groups with acupuncture. I had it to wean off my medication and the pill and I am so so so glad I did... much better than having to take more medicine...

Thanks for the advice. If this go on for too much longer I will go see my gp. I feel like if I just had a decent af I would be back to normal, it feels like extended pms.

Spotting, cramping & crying for no apparent reason can also be a sign of pregnancy. It might be worth using a HPT just to check.

I tested twice a few days ago. The first time I tested at night and swore I could see a very very faint 2nd line (however i think it was wishful thinking) so retested in the morning and there was definitely nothing.
