Question Have I just had a really early miscarriage?

I'm on my 3rd cycle since DS was born and I'm into Day 10 of this cycle and I'm still bleeding!. It's not fresh blood anymore, but dark and old - enough to definately use a pad. However, it's not like my normal "spotting" at the end of a period.

I spoke to a midwife friend today who said I could have had a miscarriage. My cycle is generally about 32 days long, but last cycle it lasted 37 days. I did 2 preg tests at 15 dpo and they were neg at 5 mins, but after about 10 - started to show faint positives. I started spotting the next day and got, what I assumed was "AF" the day after that (17 dpo).

I've been told this can happen - very early pregnancy that just doesn't "stick".

Has anyone experienced it? What should I do? The midwife suggested "getting it checked" (ultrasound), however, what's the point if my temps are right down (obviously no preg there anymore - if indeed there ever was). We want to TTC again this cycle, but this bleeding is really strange.....

It could possibly be an early m/c. I would go to your GP and request a BT just to see if you have any hCG in your system and if so whether the levels are going up or down. It's always best to check, just for peace of mind.

I hope the bleeding stops soon .

I agree with Trish, go to your GP and get checked. All the best.

Are you still breastfeeding? If you are breastfeeding still it could also be due to that. It is not uncommon for your first few cycles after AF returns to be extremely heavy and last quite a long time (like it was after you gave birth). Is it possible that your last AFs were just break through bleeding and not actually AF at all?

I was just giving some further ideas, but if you are concerned about it, you should see your GP.

The faint pos after 10 mins could've been evaporation lines (which is why the HPTs say not to read a result after that time) though evap lines are usually clear. A similar thing happened to me in January and as you can see from my sig was an early loss.
