Hi there

I dont need any replies to this, but I just wanted to post this so that if someone does a search for "long menstrual period", they can find this info.

Now I'm sure there are LOTS of reasons for a long period, my friend gets them all the time, but I just wanted to post my story as ONE possibility to check for.

I had been ttc, I got AF as usual but had bleeding for 2 weeks. It had been a normal heavy period but then had light (and quite dark coloured) bleeding that didnt stop. Nowhere I looked could give me any info on why that might be. It wasnt till I had a bit of cramping that for some reason the words "ectopic pregnancy" popped into my head. I'm glad I was paranoid otherwise I wouldnt have done an HPT. I certainly wasnt expecting it to be positive!

Anyway, after another week of uncertainty and tests, they finally found and removed an ectopic pregnancy. If I hadn't done that HPT, it could have ruptured before I decided to go to the doctor, which could have been quite a problem!!

Also, even though I was bleeding, the specialist said there was a small chance it could have been a healthy pregnancy. I never really believed it- its weird to think that AF could maybe NOT mean you're not pregnant!

So, if you're TTC, and your period is weird or long- it might be worth doing an HPT just to be on the safe side!!

I hope maybe one day this can help someone
