    happy hour get out clause?

I'm now in my first 2ww! I've stopped drinking alcohol, but don't know what to say to work collegues at happy hour about the lack of drink. I can't use the "i'm driving" coz I have to drive to work and have always had one beer. And I don't think I'd get away with being on antibiotics until the end of the school year. So any ideas?

Could you be on a detox diet? They can go for ages!!! Although that would mean having to only eat the healthy stuff in front of them too. No choccie oclock at work.
    Good luck

Yes I agree with the detox excuse, I'm the only girl in a team of boys at work so 'beer o'clock' can be very tough. I have actually been detoxing for the past two weeks and they're just used to me saying 'no thanks' to a drink now. Just stick to your guns! I know peer pressure is so tough!

a detox would make excellent sense, especially as i've also given up caffeine, so it could work. Thanks girls

SammyRo - if my experiences in a school staffroom are anything to go by they're going to know your ttc or probably assume you are already pg anyway, no matter what excuse you give them. Just wait till you are trying to hide watrcrackers gingerbeer and ms. I would pretend to drink it to throw off any suspicion :-)

hi sammyro last year when i was pg i used the i'm on antibiotics, cause everyone knows you shouldn't mix antibiotics and alcohol, they don't need to know the reason why, or you could scare them and say thrush, they wouldn't ask you again, lol. i never drank coffee so i can't help on that part of it. good luck on your tww

I really like the detox idea, but you could bluff some kind of medical advice thing as well I guess.

The worst thing is when you are around friends who are big drinkers and feel the need to force it down everyone else's throat too.
