    Heart shaped uterus and confused!

    Hello to all,

I am desperate for some comments or assistance to help me with my query.

My last monthly was July 1st 2004 - Initially her estimated due date was 6th April 2005. However my daughter was born 12th May 2005. After five days of labour I was rushed to emergency for a C-Section. She was born with a aerlongated head and was in ICU for two days. Other than that she was fine.

After 2 years I was still experiencing crippling pulls from my c-section scar.

Yet this year we wanted to be pregnant at the start of the year conception - no problemo!

Estimated due date 26th October 2008. At the start of pregnancy I had many ultra sounds as I was experiencing jolting pain in both my legs. Nothing was found.

After my 36th week it was determined that my child was lying in a breach -transverse position. After emotional and physical complications yet again a another c-section. Again complications for me in theatre but the birth of a healthy baby girl. Yay!!!

Yet next morning drug induced the Doctors told me I have a heart shaped uterus hence the difficulty of getting bubs out and a result of a larger wound. Also that I can definately not nor think about having another child for 2-3 years. Suprised of course and not thinking clearly I was shocked and dazed.

Now I dont know what to think. We had planned of being pregnant again this time next year. Why do I have to wait so long? Was I lucky that I waited so long to get pregnant again. Wouldnt they have known this with the first C-Section? Is it even possible again?

I feel very frustrated with the medicals who I have dealt with throughout it all.

This maybe a long story but my first time writing and I wasnt sure if little or too much information is best.

I really would appreciate any feedback. Thank you for taking the time reading this.

    Cheers and thanks again.

I would've thought they would've picked something like that up with your first c-section, you're right! Maybe it would be worthwhile asking for your hospital notes relating to both c-sections? It might also have shown up on your ultrasounds - I have a 'tilted' uterus and it was picked up on my first internal scan.

You could probably also ask your OB about it - why nobodies told you before, why you have to wait so long, and why you fell preg so easily this time. Maybe you just need to be a little more careful than others would, but you can actually TTC now, IYKWIM?

I dunno, not a doctor, just think I know lots!

I know I have an inverted uterus; they spotted this at my 8-9w scan. But later scans no-one noticed; you can't once the uterus starts growing. Maybe this was the case wtih you? A big baby-filled uterus is all out of shape and the "normal" shape wasn't recognisable?

I would think that it would be quite hard to diagnose an oddly-shaped uterus from a section, tbh, because it's so big and stretched. Maybe you need to have an ultrasound when it's back to "normal" to confirm this diagnosis?

And it's safer to wait a bit between babies when you have sections; give the wound time to heal before you stretch it out again IYSWIM.

Hope you get some answers, maybe ask/write to the doctor who told you that you had a heart-shaped uterus why he feels that and what it actually means for you.

    Best of luck!

    Its all a little much

Thank you soo much Sunflowa_girlie and Rosehip_Fairy for your input.

Its great to have someone elses point of view.

I think I will be requesting my medical notes from both hospitals about my C-Sections. I will also change Doctors too. I feel that something doesnt add up and I will be getting to the bottom of it.

Again thank you for your help I really appreciate it.

    Cheers
