    Help needed!!

Hi all my name is Jacki and my partner and i have TTC for just under 18months.
I have an appointment with our local doctor in two weeks, I was wondering what questions I should ask.
DH and I have been trying every month but not too worried when it doesn't happen.
I had my heart set on it this month. I was told that I might have cysts on my ovaries but no one has ever acted on it.
What should I ask or is there something that I would have to ask him to do? Im so confused.

    Jackie and welcome

I would be telling the Dr about the possible cysts and asking for some basic tests. The Dr will ask alot of questions too. Make sure you tell them you have been trying for a while too.

PS there are some great Ladies in the Long Term TTC threads

    for you and hubby

    Hi Jacquie

    Welcome to BB

It is all very confusing isn't it. Don't worry - a lot of us have been there. I basically explained the situation and then my Dr took over and asked questions. the following is not a comprehensive list by any means but is a start of things for you to think about.

    Is your cycle regular?
Is your weight within the health range?
Are you charting your cycle in any way - like monitoring your cervical mucous or taking your temperature or using ovulation prediction tests?
Are you have sex at the right times - how often are you having sex?
Have either of you have any other pregnancies?

Your Dr will probably send you for some blood tests - from memory at day 1 and day 21 of your cycle and if they come back clear then you may have some other tests like ultrasounds and your partner may be sent for a semen analysis.

Alternatively they may refer you straight to a fertility specialist. It depends a little on your age. Are you over 35? If you are it is more important that you get things moving more quickly as if there is a problem it may take some time to get it identified.

Just remember - to these people it is all very routine and normal and not anything to be shy about. No matter how embarrassing it may seem be honest about the answers you give.

Wishing you the very best of luck - and ask as many questions as you like here - you will always find people are really helpful about it all.

    Hi Jacki

I probably can't help too much with the cyst thing or what to ask the doctor, but i would suggest telling them everything you have been doing to TTC. They will probably start by checking out both you and your partners medical history to get an understanding of where you are at.

You might want to look at polycystic ovarian syndrome, i think that is the term (on here most people call it PCOS) and there are a lot of people who have successfully conceived once they have it treated. Good luck with the Dr's tomorrow and there are some threads here for TTC buddies, they are incredibly supportive when things are worrying.

    Goodluck :luck:

    Thanks for your replies.
I got my AF for the second time in 30 days on sunday and it totally devistated me. This time more than normal.
DH and I are always at it but with his new job things have been a little less often. I just want to get the next two weeks over with. I have never been patient.

    Thanks again gurls.
