Hi I'm new! And confused! LOL

Hi Everyone! I'm new here as I'm slightly confused about whats going on with me this month and didnt know where else to turn lol.

My partner and I arent really TTC (although if it were to happen we'd be thrilled), but this last month we have been pretty bad with the contraceptive side of things so BD the whole month unprotected. I normally have 25 day cycles, sometimes they can be a bit short but they have seemed to be lengthening lately.
Anyway, I was due for AF on the 11th of May. It didnt arrive until Sunday the 17th and it finished on the 20th. But (and here comes the TMI warning haha), it was extremely light/spotty, here one min & gone the next, and was very dark brown. My last period started like that, then at around the 7th day turned red and went another 4 days. That was the longest period ever lol.
But since having what I think was my period, I'm still cramping mildly. It's more just a dull ache in my lower ab-belly button area and its spread to my lower back today. Like AF cramps, but theres no AF. Over the last week I've noticed my boobs have got bigger, but I simply could have put on weight to cause that LOL. And other than feeling tired today for no reason at all, I haven't experienced any other symptoms that could be either pregnancy or AF. I track my menstrual cycle and ALWAYS get symptoms up to a week before getting it, and this month theres been nothing.

Idk, after AF leaving but then symptoms of AF starting without the bleeding, I decided to do a HPT just in case. I done 2 last night at around 8pm and one this morning with FMU. All seemed to be vvvfaint positives. I had a stopwatch with me, and at around the 7min mark on each test I could definitely see the 2nd line although it was faint. They were the dip stick ones, and I bought a POAS (FR) and I'm not sure when to use it. Should I do it asap with FMU, or give it 2 days or so? I think I could hold off lol.

Lol sorry for the novel, I'm just confused as heck. If the dip stick tests turn out to have been a false + I will be gutted lmao.

    Hi Shan23, Welcome to BB!

From what you have said, if you are UTD you would already be about 5 weeks along?? If you are willing to hold out it can't hurt to wait a couple more days then use the FR with FMU... but I wouldn't be able to wait and I would use it tomorrow morning!! FR is one of the most sensitive tests on the Australian market and will hopefully give you an accurate result.

If you read the tests within the correct time frame it is unlikely that you would get two false positive results. An evap line takes a while to appear. Can you photograph the tests and post them here on BB??

If you want a definitive answer, I would head to the doctor and request a blood test. This will test the level of HCg (pg hormone) in your blood and tell you for sure if you are UTD!

Good luck, let us know how you go!!

Hi Lulu & Nickle, thanks for the advice!

I unfortunately wasnt able to get photos of the first tests as I the lighting wasn't good enough.

    But...

I wasn't able to hold out testing again until tomorrow morning
When the OH came home from work tonight I filled him in on my worries and the tests I'd done. He then told me I had to go POAS right that instant lol. So I used the FR one I had at 11.45pm after peeing about 3 times in the 2 hours before it. And at 3mins, 45secs, the second line appeared. Fainter than the control line, but its definitely there, even the OH seen it clearly. Soooo.... looks like a BFP. It came up so easily so late at night after I've been to and fro from the toilet all night. But I'm still unsure, the line was slightly broken up. Like it wasn't completely straight all the way down? Idk if that means anything. I'll put a photo of it up as soon as I can.
So I've gone out and brought another 3 pack of FR LOL. One for tomorrow morning and then the others "just to be sure".

OH is very much in shock and doesnt think its real lol. I'm all "holy shizz what are we gonna do?!" and he's just "Nah you aren't pregnant". If the other tests come up + then off to the docs I go to get a BT done. To confirm it for both of us lol. Any idea how long BT results typically take to come in?

Argh my mind is blown away lol. I have a horse, and the thought of not being able to ride him makes me pretty bummed lol. Idk what I'm gonna do with him, he may just enjoy a nice long holiday lol.

This honestly feels like a dream

Well, if you're right and you have gotten your BFP, congratulations!
If not, stick around - even if you don't TTC anytime soon, we talk about pretty much everything here on bellybelly

    Thanks Tenibear! xD

I went to the docs yesterday and she sent me straight for blood tests. I told her all up I had done 7 tests, the last 4 were stronger positives and she didnt feel the need to do another urine test. She said their ones and home ones are pretty much the same. She also asked some questions, and said it does sound like I am definitely pregnant but to get a BT just to confirm it properly for my partner and I lol. The OH is shocked to the core LOL. But she said the results wouldn't be in until thursday D:
But I called pathology today and they said my results were in and they were going to fax them through today to my dr so I'll be right to try and get an earlier appointment. Called the docs office, they dont have any appointments available until tomorrow (wednesday) at 2pm. Which is a lot better than having to wait until thursday, but I want to know NOW darnit!

    I hate this waiting! lol

    Firstly welcome

Secondly, congratulations!! Your pregnant my dear! Thats EXACTLY what it was like for me, well i actually didnt have any spotting but i had the weird AF cramps, dull aches in my lower abdomen and i felt "full", my boobs got big really fast as well.

I tested and i got very very faint lines but i just went and got a blood test straight away and my doctor said a line is a line no matter how dark it is.

Congratulations again and wishing you a very H&H rest of your pregnancy!

Look forward to seeing you around

I would test the next day you can (cause I know how hard it is to wait more than 24 hours) but use FMU as this will give you the best result. GL. I hope you are UTD. (If that's what you want)

Thanks guys! I am so excited lol. DP came up to me before and rubbed my belly and said "Little baby" lol. Was so cute, didn't expect that from him at all. His a very "manly" man lmao.

This waiting is driving me mental though! I really want to know how far along I am, even just having a "guesstimate" would be nice haha. I've tried due date calculators on the net, but they never take into account how long your LMP went for. I had quite a long one in April, started on the 21st and went until May 1st. So I have no idea when I Ov'ed. The doc said yesterday she'd organise a dating scan for in a couple of weeks so I'm happy with that. She's really nice as well, I dont have a regular doctor as we moved in Jan this year and I havent needed to see a doctor for anything lol.

1stTimeMumma88, I have that "full" feeling too! The cramps/dull ache has eased off a lot today which is good. They weren't painful or anything, just annoying lol. And I've noticed over the last 3 days, today especially, I have been STARVING! I'm not eating any different either. I can have a large lunch & dinner, and within an hour feel like I haven't eaten for days. Dunno if that has anything to do with being pregnant (man that feels weird to type lol) though. DP thinks I'm "imagining" symptoms though lol.

So once the BT confirms it, we'll be off to tell our parents. I'm worried they are gonna blab to the rest of the family though. We feel we should tell our parents, but we dont want to tell anyone else until we're at the 12 week mark. Just in case, y'know? The rest of my immediate family will likely find out at the end of June though, we're all going on a holiday to QLD, so my lack of ****tails and the snazzy place we're staying and my lack of going on rides at the theme parks will tell all lol. My aunt especially is pretty clued in to this stuff, she'll guess it the moment I decline a drink lol. DP & I are laughing at the thoughts of what his mother will do, she's been on our case for a while now to make her a grandma!

Soo very excited. Cant wait to start all that goes with pregnancy, well maybe not the morning sickness. I dont like puking, it usually comes out my nose lmfao

The dull ache disappeared around the time i got my BFP. But i had growing pains from 4 weeks to about 12.

I actually completely lost my appetite and my morning sickness kicked in at 5 weeks and i couldnt eat a single thing without being sick. Lost a total of 10kgs in the first 3 months.

And we told everyone when we got the confirmation. Well it was my DP who wanted to.. i wont be with any others we have.

I wish you all the best, i hope you dont get morning sickness as bad as i did.

haha oops I forgot to update here!

The BT results were disappointing I only have a hcg level of 57, which obvs isn't as high as they would like. So the Dr wants another BT done (which I had done today also), and an U/S which I'm getting tomorrow morning. I get the results of both on Friday afternoon.

I'm so gutted I just my hcg levels rise like they should, Dr said if they dont rise by at least 2/3's then it most likely will not be a viable pregnancy. Even then though it's still iffy. Poor DP was really after a definitive answer, as was I. it takes a turn for the better

    Hun, dont stress.

My HCG level was 29 the doctor doubted i was pregnant..... which was straight after saying a reading of more than 2 is a positive..

I had bloods done again and they were like 10,000 which was a big relief

57 would just mean your only a few weeks pregnant.

My hCG at 11 DPO was 69. Then it went up to 283 by 13 DPO. Don't stress. Please post your results. Fingers crossed for you hun!

Thanks so much for the support

I had the U/S this morning, which was inconclusive.
The lady doing it said there's nothing in my uterus, but my right ovary shows evidence of pregnancy and of supporting a pregnancy. So she said its likely I am not as far along as the Dr thinks, and it is still microscopic size. Waste of money lol. I asked the Dr if it was possible I ov'ed later in the month and thats why my hcg was low, and she didnt say much.
They ended having to do an internal U/S, most uncomfortable thing ever! My poor cervix is still cringing! D: lol. But the lady who done it, was a bit... abrupt. Idk she was friendly, but she asked questions and when I answered made me feel like I was an idiot. Like she asked when I got a + HPT, and when I told her she asked "Then why did you go to the doctors so early? Have you even missed your period yet?"
I was just "Well I was suppose to get my period last week, and it didnt come like normal. And I went to the Doctors because... I want to know?" Like duh. And she questioned why I was even getting the U/S done as it would be too early to tell, like wtf? The Dr asked me to get one, I dont know any freaking better. Gah.

So back to the Dr's tomorrow arvo at 4 for all the results, I'll definitely keep you's updated xD

I'm sorry to hear that the U/S technician wasn't pleasant. they do tend to forget that we have alot invested in those moments emotionally...it's not something we see or do everyday. it does sound to me (going by the spotting etc) that you would probably be really early in the pg (say 3-4 weeks). so no doubt the HcG levels are still low and it would also explain why there isnt much to see yet on the U/S. hopefully the next BT results will show a lovely big rise in those numbers; and if that's the case, then ask to get sent for a dating scan...i would try to hold out until you are roughly 7 weeks pg, that way there will be a more conclusive scan etc. getting them so early can sometimes lead to more worry than necessary (as you know!).

i cannot believe how the U/S lady was questioning you like that!! umm, yeah, my AF was late, i got a BFP on a HPT...of course i am going to see the GP!! man, what do they think? it's the 1950s and we still need to wait 10 weeks?! LOL!

big babe, hope this is it for you guys...you both sound really sweet and ready to welcome a baby xx
