I used to have a regular 28/29 day cycle, never went past day 29 without a period. During this time I could predict ovulation pretty easily. Over the past 3 months I have been anywhere between 29 - 36 days. I did have a loss so I am assuming this has upset the cycle a bit. However we are ttc again & I really have no clue when I can expect to ovulate. Do I base it on a 28/29 day cycle or 36?? Or throw that all to the wind and just dtd every day!!!???? Any tips appreciated!
At any point during those longer cycles did you still notice if you got ewcm at all? If you don't get ovulation pain/cramping then that will be one of your best indicators that you are ovulating. You could also try temping for a bit too. For me, I always get ewcm for up to 4 days, but I know I only actually O when I have the cramping, so I could have ewcm for 3 days before I get the cramping and other times the ewcm is finished before I get a bit of cramping. If you DTD at the first sign of ewcm and then DTD every day or every second day then you will be in with a good chance of catching the egg. So work on the premise of a 28 day cycle and then the longer cycle to cover all your bases unless you get some really clear signs and know when you are Oing. Good luck hun
Trill when I was regular I used to get all the ovulation signs, I always knew when I was ovulating. But lately my body has been doing weird things and I have no clue lol. But thats a good idea, we will work on the 28 day cycle then the later one to cover all bases. Hmm thats alot of sex lol.
I have just bought myself a themometer that is specifically designed for ovulation I ordered online so havent got it yet but many women on here temp and it helps them a lot to pin point ovulation, that IMO would be your best bet. But if you just want to go with the flow with TTC then just take note of the CM and DTD around when you think you would be ovulating.
Hope that helped a little, good luck with your journey
I have a cycle which overall fits a normal cycle length but my natural ovulation is several days (ie: 5+) later than the text book case for my cycle. If you've been TTC for awhile with no luck, I think it's worth trying a method to pinpoint ovulation to just double check where your ovulation falls, or at least when your fertile window occurs. I've used POAS - OPKs (cheapies off the internet), thermometer which I bought from a chemist and looked for EWCM.
EWCM and watery CM is always a sure indicator as temping will only indicate after O has happened. You could always just do full charting for a few cycles to check to see if your cycle brings itself back in line with what your used to!
