I saw my GP because my last 2 cycles were anovulatory, actually DH and I haven't been using any protection for about 6 months and nothing happened during that time. I really don't want another 12 month emotional TTC rollercoaster, and I'm hesitant to invest any emotional energy in this TTC#2 if I am not even ovulating. So the Dr offered me clomid once I can get a set of CD21 bloods to her. Would you take it, or go natural for 6 months first? It's hard to decide whether I'm over reacting to 2 anov cycles in a row by taking the clomid.
CD40 now and just waiting around for AF . By the time I get around to another CD21, it will be december before any decent TTC will be happening I guess.
Short answer - I'd give Clomid a go. TTC can be such a mind-game, and if you're really keen for another bubby sooner rather than later, then I'd say "take the clomid" .
Long answer - It worked for me on the second cycle and we ultimately had DS1. The back story is that DH and I were TTC #1 for probably 12 months - I say "probably" because my cycles were totally up the putt and I'd just started a new job, so we didn't "try" very hard (I didn't chart temps and I could never really work out what day O was supposed to be etc). Anyway I had to see the GP about something else and raised the issue. She sent me straight off for bloods and an ultrasound. Nothing was wrong as such, I just needed help to ovulate regularly and "properly" (for want of a better way to put it). So a FS put us on clomid.
So yep, it worked well for us. And then DS2 was conceived naturally 12 months after DS1 arrived.
Thanks, I'm very tempted to do it. I know I'm not ovulating and anything to make the journey less stressful and faster would be great. Was going on clomid stressful though? I know I don't want to do multiple BT's and scans each cycle...
I was probably more anxious than stressed. I definitely recall having a few BTs in the lead up to ovulating (fortunately BTs don't worry me), but I didn't have to have any scans. My other distinct memory is that I did get some sharp "twinges" in my lower stomach (I'd guess around my ovaries). I wasn't told that it might happen and I recall that one day they were sufficiently uncomfortable that I called in sick at work. But I don't think the twinges happened often, maybe 1-2 days each cycle of clomid. It seems to be reasonably common with clomid. But please don't let that put you off - yes, I felt a bit uncomfortable, but it wasn't THAT bad.
On the up side ... I have a beautiful (if not full-on) toddler who may not have been here today had I not put up with the relatively minor discomforts of clomid. Definitely worth it.
