    1st day of AF?

I know the first day of a new cycle begins with the first red blood of AF.
My question is: does that have to be on a pad or on toilet papaer when you wipe?

I needed only a light pad, but blood was brown on that, only red when i wiped.

    Hi Charlotte,

I'd go by the red blood to start counting CD1.

The brown stuff sounds like it is just starting to happen - that is the old stuff.

The red is a definite sign that it is happening because it is newer blood.

Flow can vary, generally I find CD1 to be light and CD2 heavier.

I had brown spotting yesterday, but red stuff when wiping this morning and cramps - so I am counting today as CD1.

Hey!! it seems we are cycle buddies this cycle.

I would have to say AF lasted less than 24 hours. I had a little bit of brown blood when I went to the loo, then I DTD, and then had brown blood which needed the use of a pad. I then noticed red blood when I wiped when I went to the loo. Now it has stopped. I was expecting something heavier, as it was my first AF since stopping BC and after D & C.

Charlotte, see what happens when you are up and about today and moving around.

My first AF after coming off the BCP was only 1 day. The second AF was 2 days. Never got a third because we got the BFP but had a m/c at about 11 weeks. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Your body might still be recovering and trying to sort itself out after the m/c and D&C. You might want to mention it to your DR if you are concerned.

    All the best.

I have been up all night, working. Off to bed in about 3 hours. I'm now CD 3 if I say it was AF. I will just keep DTD and keep my fingers crossed, I'm sure we will all get our BFP soon.

Charlotte - that probably wasn't your AF - sounds more like spotting to me. It needs to be full flow to be called your AF and the way your described it doesn't sound like full flow.

Charlotte - I would probaby say that it wasnt AF either... Sorry....
I sometimes get that brown spotting for a few days, then it almost stops, then AF will show...whoosh (and i can tell the difference)... (TMI sorry). Hope you get your BFP soon.
