i have been taking vitex since august. so far no pregnancy but it has helped regulate my cycles. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007 and although I have been taking metformin for 2 years, my cycles didnt become regular until i started taking vitex as well. I have read that it takes 3-6 months to help with pregnancy. I am hoping that when my current period is over, hubby and I will succeed in finally getting pregnant.
I am nervous about actually getting pregnant though. No one seems to have info on when to stop taking it once you find out you are pregnant. From what I have read, I have decided that once I find out I am carrying, I will reduce my dosage from 1200mg to 800mg for 2 weeks, then go to 400mg after that and continue with that dosage until I am in my 2nd trimester.
good luck to you.
and if anyone else has stories about if vitex worked for them, i would appreciate you sharing your experience whether it be positive or negative.
My AF was really regular (31 day cycles) for ages, then suddenly went all over the place. I was being tested for PCOS and endo but I took Vitex in the middle of all the testing etc. I wasn't taking anything else and yep it totally got me back on track. I conceived within two months.
It doesn't help you actually conceive, it simply helps to regulate your cycles to give you a greater chance of catching the egg Good Luck!
