    IVF - Decisions Decisions

    Hi there,

I am interested in IVF. I am 43 and have been told it is pretty slim chances but I am willing to give it a go.

My problem is I only have limited money. I only have $20,000 savings to my name.

The clinic I am currently with - IVF Australia - charges $10,000 per cycle not including hospital costs (which I hope are covered by my private insurance).

My question is, do I stick with IVF Australia - and just give it one shot - I know it would be a miracle baby! - or do I borrow money and have 3 chances. I would have to borrow say $15,000 to do that.

(My parents have quite a bit of money set aside for me when they finally sell their house, so its not like I will be broke once I have the baby). I am tempted to ask my father for the money to borrow against what he was planning to give me anyway, but I have a feeling he will not be that supportive.

Anyway, the main question is - do I stick with the costly yet familiar clinic I am with, or do I start shopping around for cheaper options at cheaper clines to get more goes for my money - if so are there any that people could recommend?

Also, If I had to borrow the money from a bank, should I ask for a loan for IVF or lie to get the money?

    many thanks,

    Kate x

Hi! Best wishes for your journey.

Personally I would suggest staying with the clinic you know, especially if you feel comfortable with them during such a roller coaster time.

Medicare do cover some of the charges, so you will be reimbursed part of the fee.
I hope it only takes one cycle to create yiur miracle bub.

Yes your out of pocket expenses will be closer to 6k I think.
I would be more inclined to stick with the clinic you are with. The starting up with a new clinic takes time and it sounds like you want to get started sooner rather than later
