lengthening LP with Blackmores vitamin B complex and folic acid level in Elevit???
Ok, so im thinking I might have too short a luteal phase and this is why TTC 1st month did not work. OPK+ on cd17 of last months cycle and had period on CD25. That makes 8 days if I actually ovulated on CD17 that is, could have been cd18 or 19 too
just realised either way it is much too short for my "eggo to be preggo from the first get go'. Im not sure if all of this is a side effect from coming off the Nuvaring right before that cycle.
I did some googeling and saw you could lengthen LP by taking vitamin B6 and a supplement of B12 to help absorption of the B6. some websites suggest just a vitamin B complex as the complex has both and is balanced. Blackmores has both. However, when i researched the active ingredient levels of the Bcomplex, it as 300 microgram of folic acid in it too.
My question is, Im already using the Elevit with Iodine and that has 800 micrograms of folic acid. If I take another supplement of B-complex with 300 micrograms of folic acid in it on top of the Elevit, will this have any bad side effects. Is it ok to take 1100 micrograms a day? and would it affect fertility
and to the ladies that either took B6 or the Bcomplex, did it help lengthen your LP???
BTW, i am now on CD5 of my 2nd cycle TTC, have started temp charting, and bought the OPK to figure out if OPK shows positive, and i do get a temp rise then I would have ovulated but if the temp doesnt get up i wouldnt ovulate, is that how it works? just want to keep charting to help me understand my body in case TTC 2nd month doesnt work out.lut
I took vitex to help lengthen my luteal phase. I was under a naturopath by the time I started vitex. The cycle I took it it worked and lengthened it by about 3 days. I'm not sure if it was going to continue working or not because I ended up going to see a FS and started on progesterone pessaries to lengthen the luteal phase.
IMO vitamins a certainly worth a shot. I'm not sure about adding the B complex with the folic acid on top. Vitamin Bs certainly didn't lengthen my luteal phase, but not to say it won't help you as the causes for these things are all different.
Ovulation can be seen after the fact by a temperature rise and a sustained higher temperature through the luteal phase. I found it always best to use with the OPKs because I would get mini peaks in my temperature for days leading up to ovulation. Sounds like this is what you are doing anyhow.
I took vitex and it was great. I remember my dr telling me more than the recommended folate was not a good thing! I was taking my Preg supp and it didn't have iodine and the only iodine supp I found had folate with it but I couldn't take it because the Preg supp already had folate so I switched to a Preg supp with iodine.
