Can someone suggest what might have happened?

Hello everyone,

My husband and I have decided that we will try for one more baby starting this month. Must be crazy at my age (37) with two teenage daughters and a toddler!
My period started on 14th June. I have normal 28 day cycles no fertility issues in past. Period ended on 18th June. We have happy fun times in bed on 19th and then maybe every 2-3 days until now. I was waiting for egg-white CM which I normally get on day 13 or 14 but on day 12-15 had a bad case of thrush (not had thrush since I was pregnant with the little boy). Never detected the egg-white CM just horrible thrush. Thing is on day 15 I started with nausea and it is now day 19. It isn't getting worse but it is very persistant all day (I didn't get much nausea with the other pregnancies). Also breasts are tingling a little and very sore. Also have very mild headache. Is it possible that this is all in my head? Or is it possible to ovulate early - but how on earth would it be possible to be feeling like this so early. My period is due in 10 days so guess I will just have to wait it out. Any insights appreciated.

It is incredibly rare to have symptoms before implantation. Implantation occurs from 5-8 DPO, usually around 7 DPO. Perhaps the symtoms are just a coincidence? Even after implantation it usually takes days for the hormones to build up strong enough to make an effect on our bodies...

as you age it is certainly possible for ovulation to come earlier and earlier, and may not always be predictable. When I was 32 I was briefly pregnant, and I was symptomatic from 4-5 days post ovulation. That pregnancy was confirmed via ultrasound. I had a positive POAS 4 days before my period was due (28 day cycle), and had nausea, not wanting to drink coffee etc 5 days before that (so day 19 of cycle).

Yes as you get older your cycle can be a little erratic. I found I suddenly started to get shorter cycles at around 40... not every cycle but some. I always found that I got pregnant on the cycles where I O'd early. Also as you get older you may find that you don't get as much or seemingly any fertile CM. I had symptoms from around a week after O. So if I O'd on CD11 then I could have symptoms from as early as CD17.... for me it was tiredness, stuffy nose & bleeding gums.

Are you sure that your last period was a period? Could it have been an implantation bleed?

Thank you for your replies...they are vey much appreciated.

I am still unsure as to what is going on. Thinking that maybe it could be coincidence and that I could have picked up a bug. The nausea is persistant even waking me at night. Last night was much better though because I juiced some cabbage (an old remedy for nausea). If it is a bug which is pretty uncommon for me I am still suspect as I would have thought i'd get diarrhea. But I wonder if it's Giardia - never had it before but have heard that you can still have the nausea without diarrhea.

To answer one of the questions - I am sure that my last period was not implantation bleeding as it was normal (lots of bleeding) and we were not ttc last month. We did not have any accidents.

I'll test on Monday 13th and be sure to let you know the outcome.

I have no advice for you as i have no children and im not yet TTC (iv got PCOS and trying to get that under control before i start) but i do hope you were successful!!
