Shel had to have a HSG today, about 12.30pm. She had no pain until about 3pm, and now at 8pm she's barely able to walk and is crunched over the toilet vomitting, and is also shivering (although it's 24 degrees and her temp is normal 36.5).
I've asked her if she wants to go to the hospital, but she said no. I can't just up and take her because I'm not sitting around with a 2yo in the emergency waiting room on a Friday night, so I'd need to call SIL to come round, so if this is an abnormal reaction (google is not helping, no imformation really) I want to get her to the hospital ASAP.
I had a HSG in June 20007, and don't remember being this bad... Very crampy and also bleeding but not spewing I'm sure?? Did anyone else get like this??
Oh... ETA... she's jsut come out saying she is hungry now she's spewed. Not in any less pain, but not spewy anymore. Maybe just a reaction to the cramping? She has 3 day periods, and never has period pain so maybe that is it?
Do you have a "nurse on call" type number in Queensland? I find them invaluablewhen you're not sure if something requires a visit to ER or can actually wait. I hope Shel keeps feeling better.
Yeah they are no help as they had no idea what I was talking about!
"HSG? Can you explain that?"
She seems ok. Well, still in a lot of pain and very tender but she doesn't seem as bad. Still normal temperature. I sent her to bed with some panadol and neurofen lol
I had absolutely horrific cramps after a hycosy - which I gather is a similar thing where die is pushed up through the fallopian tubes. They don't mention that the pain afterwards can be really bad, just that you could have "mild cramping" during the procedure.
So I think that part is normal. I think the shakes and the vomiting could well be a reaction to being in intense pain. Pain relief and bed sounds like a good option. If she deteriorates, definitely keep the hospital in mind as it could be something else entirely unrelated to the HSG.
