Hi,
I have just turned 27, I have PCOS and when I was 16 I had my right ovary removed due to a large cyst, I have also had about 90% of my left ovary removed dues to cysts and several operations. My husband and I have been TTC for 5 years just naturally but with no luck so have now decided to take things more seriously and get some help.
We have had our first appointment at the Fertility Specialists of WA, and they were great. The doctor had a look into our medical history and recommended we go straight into IVF since one of the problems seemed to be my left tube (I still ovulate, but the egg cant flow through the tube) and my womb looks good. He seemed really positive about IVF.
I have a couple of bloodtests to do before we go to our second appointment in June to discuss the results and talk about startivg IVF treatment.
Does anyone have any advice on what to expect during this time? I do not know anyone who has gone through anything like this and would really appreciate any advice.
Thank you
im not sure as i have not been through it myself but i wanted to wish you luck. Maybe check in the assisted conception section, im sure someone in there will be able to help you out
Faithful.. sorry to jump in. I to was in your situation but i was the one that had the problem as i had my tudes tied.
I was thinking to myself well it should work ive never had any trouble before my op.
So we jumped in feet first and went down the IVF path and it was great, emotional but still great.
I was so positive the hole time but so scared at the same time.
We were very luck and got pregnant first time so miracles do happen.
We have a beautiful little girl who is one next weekend.
Where are you from???
Im about to do a frozen embryo transfer next month as we have 4 frozen blasties left from the cycle we did to get her.
So here's hoping we get lucky twice.
Evee.... There's not much you can do but wait till your next appt so the fs can refer you to the IVF clinic.
I guess you could start on a pregnancy vitamin.
Blackmores pregnancy & Breatfeeding Gold was a good one that my clinic had recomended to me
Welcome to BB! This is an awesome website as the girls here are very supportive and are like part of your own family! I'm so sorry you've had some issues with your fertilty. I too had to do IVF last year as my DF had a snip a long time ago (he was married for 18 years and has 3 grown up kids) but when he had the reversal done in April 2007, they told him that it didn't work as the swimmers weren't coming down as they should be
We've been told that IVF was the best way to go, and we commenced the first cycle in May 2008. We we very lucky to fall pg on the first blast (5 day old embryo) transfer. I had a pretty big fibroid that caused my late term miscarriage at 20 weeks, but had that fibroid not been there, we probably would have had a baby now (Josh was due on 12/2/09).
I wish you all the very best in your cycle hun, there is a great thread LTTC where a lot of girls are going through the IVF treatment and you can get a lot of information, advice & support there.
Faithful, good luck in your cycle too hun, I hope it's a nice short ride for you!
Hi eevee,
I am doing my first IVF round, and it was so helpful to ask questions regarding this stuff so I was prepared for what the FS said at our appointment. It made it easier to ask questions and so on.
If you go into the LTTTC (long term trying to conceive) section, there are numerous posts about first IVF rounds and heaps of women who have had struggles to get pg.
Faithful.. thanks that was lovely.
I didn't at first think about IVF cause in my mine it was always to expensive well so i had heard.
So i had my op to reverse my tubes.
We tried so hard for 12month but no luck.
By this time i had found Belly belly and was finding my way around.
One of the girls on here(crazymum) had said why don't you try Ivf.
I said its way to much for us at the moment.
So she said well theres a place at westmead hospital that do it for $1,450 from start to finish.
Im like WHAT $1,450 are you serious!!??
So i looked into it and with my 30th birthday fast approaching i said to my partner thats it we have to try Ivf.
So we did, we went and seen the specialist. He had said because i had no problems in the past at falling and i'd never m/c that my chances of falling first go was pretty high.
Within 12weeks of seeing him we were pregnant with twins as we had had 2 embryos put back.
Sadly one little bubba only made it to 8weeks but we still had one very happy and health bub in there.
So yes darl miracles do happen
boble,
Thanks, i checked out the assisted conception site, it was really informing, thanks
Faithful,
Good luck, i hope everything goes well for you
