Smile New to BB ...and to TTC!

    Hello all BB'ers!!

Firstly let me just say I've been searching around for a decent forum to share my thoughts and experiences and listen to other women's, and I have to say I love the look and the "feel" of BB!!

I am 28 years old and my DH is 25 and we have finally made the decision to TTC. Me and DH have been together almost 5 years, married for 15 months now. We have finally decided to take the plunge and start our own family, but alas due to medical problems with myself we have to undergo IVF. We went and saw the fertility specialist on monday and after a couple of blood tests, we are going back on monday to sign the consent forms. Due to a few other reasons, we wil not be starting the actual treatment til about mid Jan 2010. I have accepted this fact, as also it gives us a couple of extra months to save and maybe get prepared. BUT the real reason for this post (after all my rambling, lol) is I just feel, well lost? Like I dont know if there should be books I should be reading? Things I should be buying? I dont have a close family network - well my DH side is great, but because its such an emotional journey I dont want to tell everyone we are starting IVF treatment in case it doesnt work you know?!
So I was just wondering, has anyone felt like this or have any suggestions on what I should do in the meantime or what I can do to start preparing?
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    1) welcome!! This is an awesome forum. Great people reside here.
    2) I wish you & your DH the best of luck on your TTC journey.
    3) reading:
    a) the forum. There is hundreds of years of combined experience on this forum, and so many supportive people that are happy to help answer any/all questions.
    b) I'm reading Conception Pregnancy And Birth, by Marion Stoppard. I almost wish I bought this book before we started our TTC adventure because there is a brilliant section on Reproductive Therapy. It goes into a lot of detail about both male & female fertility, and the procedures that are commonly, and uncommonly used. Just brilliant! And for when you get your BFP, the whole rest of the book is filled with pre & post natal things that you probably never think to ask about. It also covers a lot of what the men-folk are likely to be going through, and how they can cope with it (& how us womens can help them).

    Anyway...

    WELCOME & GOOD LUCK!!

Hello! How is everyone's 'hump' day going?! Only 4 more sleeps til next specialist appointment, but hey who's counting!!

didispunk - we are waiting til January to TTC as the next clinic in november is fully booked, the fertility clinic closes over december and besides that, in financial terms with the medicare safety net it makes more sense to wait til Jan anyway. Plus we have only just finished renovating our house, so I'd like to do some finishing touches etc. Are you TTC?

entreat - thankyou for your warm welcome, and the tip about the book! I will have to look for it! I went into the bookstore the other day and was just overwhelmed at the number of books there were & actually left without purchasing one! I do look forward to meeting many people on here and sharing in their experiences as I think it wil be very beneficial for me as a newbie! lol!

    Have a great day!
