    confused and upset

Hi girls. I'm a bit of a stalker on these threads, so be patient with me as I'm nervous to really join in.

I've been o n the BC for lots a years and only took 2 tries at dtd to fall with Darcy. After I had her I reacted badly to the minipill and need some sort of hormone regulation so my Ob suggested the depo injections.
All good, but all the time I had them I had like an old blood discharge, but no real AF.
Had my last ine in December last year, so would have needed the next in March.
We have been TTC since March but I still regularly have the old brown discharge.
The last few weeks I have had what I thought was AF. I had a 21 day cycle before and that's pretty much the timing of these AF right down to the day like clockwork, but still the discharge.

I thought O was roughly 14days before your next AF and we were wroking on that, but now i have done a chart on FF and that tells me I'm right out - great so I'm dreadful at that and DH is on arvos right when I'm suuposed to be O'ing.

Also last night we DTD and for the next few hours I bled but it was mucousy (sorry TMI - but I'm really stressed about all this) new blood.

I'm getting terribly depserate as I never thought I would and Im so frustrated that I have no control over my body. I know you are all in the same boat and I shouldn't complain after only this long....but man I want to cry.

    Hi Kim,

    Hope you're doing ok.

When i was on Depo i was told it can take a year for your fertility to return and that was the case for my GF who was on it for 3 years and came off when she got married. SHe fell PG in her 14th month off it. I was only on it for 6 mos as i reacted badly to it (bled or spotted continuously) but even then it took at least a year after my last injection before my periods returned to normal cycles.

I can't believe the doc told you it would "regulate" things - surely it just shuts it all down? My GF who was on it for 3 years didnt even HAVE periods during that time, about 3-4 a year at most and as you say, no bleeding, just brownish spotting. I've been put in the BCP before to "regulate" and when i came off it my body was the same as before - as far as i know the hormones in contraceptives only mask these problems rather than solving them.

I know it's awful to wait, but i think my GF was told that if she'd been trying for 2 years without success (1 for the Depo to get our of her system and 1 because they make everyone wait a year before they count it as a problem) then her GP would refer her to a FS (i'm in the UK, might be a bit different in Aus?). So there's most likely nothing at all wrong and it's just your body getting back into the swing of things kwim? I do know people who fell pregnant prior to being off depo for a year, so keep trying anyway, but if i were you i wouldn't be worried yet. If you're temping and your cycles haven't gotten back to normal yet, that's probably what's confusing FF.

I hope this helps in some way and more to you. Hang in there.

    Bec

It may be a bit of a wait though I think my SIL waited 6 weeks to get in to see her,but then you are a previous patient so might be able to see her sooner. I love Bernie she is such a straight shooter and good doc.:doctor:

and Im so frustrated that I have no control over my body.
Awww *hugs* Kim. I don't know much about the depo side of things, but I just wanted to add that when I was charting & temping, it began to give me a great sense of control over my body. Over a period of time (9-12 months), I started to really understand my body, to be able to interpret changes, to predict ovulation etc, and when I eventually went to see a GP about the length of time we'd been TTC, my charts gave her lots of information to be able to help me properly.

Stick with it sweets - over time it will seem less confusing and out-of control, even though it doesn't seem like that at the moment

Thanks Bec. I was only on it 2 injections also.

Cherie, I did start to chart but I'm not the world's greatest sleeper and neither is Darcy, but I am going to make an effort to do so this go. Everybody here seems to have good success with it.

Really appreciate the support. Thanks so much.

kim, I only had 3 depo shots and it took me another nine months for my cycle to get back to normal. I warn everyone I meet not to use depo because if there is any possibility of wanting more kids, depo will screw u for months after the last injection wears off. I'm sorryto be so blunt, but it will prob take a little more time for ur body to re-adjust back to normal, but once it is, u'll be pg before u know it! Charting will help that I can promise u. I always thought I O'd 14 days into my cycle, by charting, I worked out it was usually 17 days and bang, first goal in the right time frame, I'm pg! Goodluck hon. If there is anything I can help u with, let me know ok?

Hi Kerry and Racael! I'm doing well. Much more relaxed and actually enjoying the process (who'da thought!). I went to see a naturopath/iridologist and she gave me some god-awful herbs to drink and mixed a bit of vitex in. Hasn't harmed my BF and I'm having a perfect cycle this go so I'm happy! Not real fussed if it doesn't work first good cycle cos at least I know I'm getting back in the swing. Got all the right o symptoms though and my chart's looking ok too.

    Thanks so much for caring
