Hi girls, i am new to this forum and just wanted to hear from different people with their stories.
We have been ttc since august last year, we sadly had a m/c on new years eve and i have irregular periods.
I have had cycles of 48, 47, 41, 48 and 68 days! So i have decided to start checking my cm. I am on day 22 of this cycle and on day 19 i started noticing more 'wet' mucus. my nipples have been a little sensitive and Last night i had really stretchy mucus (sorry for tmi) and today it is not the same. Was just wondering if you are supposed to get the same mucus all day or if it can differ during the day?
To confuse myself more, i have done a couple of OPK's over the last few days and have had darker and fainter lines. Think i am going to disregard them as i am not sure how reliable they are.
Sorry for the essay haha! Would love to hear from others!
Mine differs during the day. The wet mucous is increasing fertility and the stretchy egg white mucous indicates ovulation so if you dtd over the last three days I'd say you've got a good chance of falling pg.
I've fallen pg on the day before egg white mucous and the day of. Hth
I had more of the stretchy stuff last night and a little bit this morning! Eek! Can i get excited yet? Haha! We have dtd every day since day 18, much to my partner's delight!
Your advice has definitly given me hope! Now i have the dreaded 2WW to suffer! Haha! Wish me luck!
Thanks too k4t, i dont think i have any other PCOS symptoms so trying to think positive atm, if we have no luck soon i will go and get checked out
You didn't mention exactly how dark the opk was but remember that an OPK is only positive if the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line. Almost a dark as is not usually a positive.
The stretchy cm you mentioned is indeed ewcm- the best kind! You don't have to see it all day though, you can have for instance ewcm in the morning, creamy or wet later on, then more ewcm or even just the one spot of it. It doesn't matter, when you see it it mend you at highly fertile.
And generally speaking the last day you get ewcm is the day you ovulate. So once it's gone you know you've probably ovulated. Although if you note your cm patterns you will probably notice a regulator pattern over each month. For me I get the usual dry and then creamy over my non fertile week or so after AF then it gets decidedly watery then I get about 3-5 days of ewcm including usually a heap on the last day, then after I've ovulated it's notably dry (no cm) although I do sometimes get an extra tiny bit of ewcm a few days after ovulating.
And yes, polycyclic ovaries can interfere with OPKs as people with polycyclic ovaries tend to have elevated lutenising hormone levels all the time, not just at ovulation. They also mean you may not ovulate every month and that ewcm may be sporadic throughout the month, making it hard to track ovulation. And you can have polycyclic ovaries but not the syndrome - pcos - meaning you do t experience the drawbacks and symptoms of pcos.
But then again you might just have longer cycles and not everyone gets clear opk readings anyway. It's not an exact method.
You have just given me a massive boost! I am so glad to hear from others! (It makes me feel a bit more sane for checking down my pants every time i feel wet haha!)
You sound very knowledgeable as i have just started tuning into my body its nice to have some support i didn't realise pcos could affect opk's :/ might be something to look at if this time doesn't work for us. I have chucked out the kit now and am just focusing on cm and trying to be patient!...and failing haha! Its frustrating cos i don't even know if this 2WW actually is it, or if my body is just playing tricks on me! Gosh my head feels a bit like a washing machine!
I am feeling positive for the first time in a long time though,, i have really struggled dealing with the loss of our bub, especially because of how we found out, but i finally realised i needed help and have been going to counselling, which has helped soooooo much!
I am not sure of the exact day i ovulated (if i definitly have) and i don't know when my period is due as it changes so much, so i am not sure when i should start testing?? I don't feel as wet today as yesterday, and i havnt felt the slight cramps as much today like i did yesterday...so maybe it was yesterday? Im waffling i know
What do you think??
I was once a long time TCCer so you pick up a few things along the way!
I'd usually say test about 10-11 days after you think you've ovulated. But I'm addicted to POAS so I usually test from 7 dpo.... Sometimes earlier! :redcheeks: but given that implantation is usually 6 (or often more) days after ovulation and it takes a few days after that for the hcg to show up on a test you are better of waiting as long as you can!
Do you chart at all? I found it super helpful and I was Miss Irregular herself
For me whilst I couldn't pin point a regular pattern to when I would ovulate, I realized that no matter when I ovulated my luetal phase was identical, 14 days each cycle.
I also didn't think I could have pcos because I had none of the typical symptoms apart from irregular periods. When I had an ultrasound though it showed my ovaries were polycystic. At least I knew what I was working with
My cm was all over the place too. I ended up going down the path of trying to get my body right so my cycles would get some regularity, which they did reduce in length. That and dtd every day or every second day. It's a hard life for men!
Sorry, didn't mean for my advice to sound like such a downer. I was in a bit of a hurry at the time. Good luck with your 2WW.
(I tend to recommend people get advice early as I'm surprised how many think they HAVE to try for 12 months or more before getting things checked out. I spent many frustrating months getting useless temp/cm charts and OPK results before finally being diagnosed with PCOS. Other than irregular anovulatory cycles I didn't have any symptoms.)
Hi little_O, i havn't been charting my bbt because i don't have a thermometer, and i never get up the same time every day, and am usually too out of it to remember taking my temp before i get up although i did download the period tracker app on my phone. Its no good for predicting my periods of course but i have been using it to keep note of my moods, cm, and any other changes i notice today is day 4 of the stretchy stuff yay! So hoping that means i have ovulated! That's interesting about your luteal phase haha my partner hasn't been complaining! Didn't dtd last night but will be tonight!
I just remembered, when i had the m/c, i had an abdo and vaginal ultrasound, and vaguely remember the lady saying that everything looked good and she showed me my ovaries...do you think she would have noticed/said something about if i have pcos then?
K4t, i did't mean i don't appreciate your advice in any way, i'm really sorry if i came across that way i just meant im trying to think positive thoughts, i understand that it could be a possibility though and i appreciate your concern <3
