Question Ovulating more than once in a month

    Hi there,

I have had odd cycles since age 35 coming off the pill, but I am wondering if there is a freakish chance of ovulating 2 days before a period?

I lost track of my cycle this month which generally can come 28-30 days, as I didn't write down when my January one was. My BF and I DTD and late that night I felt the same ovulation pain near my left front pelvic bone that I normally feel mid month. It lasted for several hours and I took the usual pain killer as sometimes I need to because the pain can drive me crazy! I was sure I was past it because my MC was a snotty stretchy one, and not EW. I normally recognise the tell tale plug either coming away, or building back up again, but it doesn't stretch between my fingers! Two days later A.F arrives.

Surely I wouldn't have ovulated two days before a period????? And now thinking ohhhh...is pregnancy possible? Anyone???

    Thanks

Yep, it's rare but does happen. A lady I worked with fell PG with her first daughter (after 4 boys!) completely by surprise at the very end of her cycle! It was a complete 'whoopsie' and so unexpected but so meant to be

yep, it's called "super-ovulation" (do the superman pose here... 2 of mine can be blamed on it!! 3 days before af due & 2 days before.

The rhythm method doesn't work for me!!

Yes, some women release an egg from each ovary each cycle. It usually runs in families, hence the very high rate of fraternal twins within mine where both sisters have had them, but they actually haven't been conceived on the same day but one week apart. So far, I've just been lucky enough to become pregnant on the first month of trying both times by DTD every second day, but next time I'm hoping for the double whammy. For my mother, no.1 sister and me, this quirk has been a blessing so far, however for sister no.2 it's been both a blessing and a curse as she has m/c many babies within a short timeframe. She has three beautiful girls now, but for some reason just can't hold onto the boys, and this seems to be another family quirk. My DS and my brother are the only non-twin boys within a couple of generations, any other boys have seemed to need to piggy back with a sister to make it through to the end.

Women also release more eggs the older they get, hence the reason for higher incidences of twins within women over 35.

    Not sure whats going on

well, I am not sure what is going on. The last two days I have felt a bit down and teary. Although, I seem to be good at finding other reasons to exlpain it. Over worked, over stressed,............I usually get like this before a period-not after!.......Im pretty convinced Im not pregnant though, but normally my libido has shot up by now,....but not so far! Don't know whats going on!
