Question Ovulation Pain. How painful is yours?

Just wondering how painful ovulation pain should be? Mine is seriously sore. I used to think it was *achem* (sorry for TMI) bowel pain but know its ovulation pain now. It gets so bad sometimes that I need to double over or lie down for a while. It can last up to 12 hours and will sometimes be a dull pain for a day after the initial pain. Does this sound right / worrying? I can get it on both sides but it's usually the right side.

Anyone know why we get ovulation pain as well? Does it mean the eggs are having a hard time releasing or something? Just wondering if this much pain could mean a bad egg or something??? Sighhhh, sorry for all the silly questions.

ZigZag, its not a silly qustion!!! There's never a silly question

Ovulation pain can be really common - Mine is absolutely unbearable, always has been... and has gotten a LOT worse as I've gotten older

I've always had huge issues with my reproductive system - Got my period at 9yrs and things just got worse from there with endometriosis, etc.

It could be nothing, but it may be worth getting it checked out JIC as I know ovulation pain is quite common with all of my issues

It may also be nothing - over the years, my period pain was always worse than the ovulation pain (but still horrid) - but as I've gotten older, the O pain is much worse thean the period pain

My doctor said its common to be sensitive to ovulation as you get older... but if its got you doubled over, hun, its best to check it out. It can't hurt

With my pain, I also get ridiculous amounts of EWCM and my stomach swells up that much I can't fit clothes around my waist properly over the few days I'm ovulating. Those days are trackies or tights days for me!

It does feel like really bad wind, or like a really painful stitch - but its common to wake me if I'm sleeping, and I always take something for the pain.

If yours is like what mine is, then see your Dr - JIC xxx

Hoping its that your body is being super sensitive, because its ready to do its thing and make a baby

    Good Luck hun xxx

Thanks Hollybolly. Yep I've had endo as well in the past and funny you mention it, I get loads of EWCM too. I bloat up a bit but not enough to change clothes but def. wear more unrestrictive clothes for a bit.

I've just started getting things checked out with the doc so will mention it to her next time I see her. Getting my hormone and ovulation levels checked this cycle.

I wish I could remember whether I got this prior to having my DD but only seem to remember having memories of it after I had her so hoping its not going to be a complication. Anyway, will see and keep trying
