I have just started using ovulation testing kits. I started last thursday and the first one didnt show any test line so i assumed i wasnt ovulating. I tested again on friday and both lines were the same colour. I tested on saturday and the test line was darker than the control line. Tested on sunday and the same thing. Now its monday and i tested to see what would come up and the test line is still darker than the control line. That means i have had a positive test for 4 days. Is this normal? Im scared im going to miss my fertile window wven though hubbya dn i have BD on saturday and sunday (and probably again today now i have another positive test)
I personally havent had any experience with this, sorry, but are you charting aswell? Crossing your temps with the OPKs could probably show you when you actually O'd as there would be a spike and a sustained high in your temp.
Not that much help but I do hope you end up catching that eggy!
I would tentatively say you ovulated 12-24 hours after the darkest line and you had a long surge. I always had very short surges and would sometimes miss it altogether if I tested at the wrong time. That said, I don't believe OPKs are the be all and end all of ovulation monitoring. Your body can tell you more than a cheap test, the tests are useful to help pinpoint it among other signs, such as egg white or super clear runny cervical fluid, basal body temperature etc. Get to know your body rather than putting all the emphasis on an opk.
Thanks ladies. I have gone with my first positive test with a dark test line which was on saturday, I haven't been taking temperatures as i don't have a thermometer yet but will next month (if this month isnt it). My CM wasz stretchy on saturday and sunday and we BD both days, so fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone. I did another test this morning and it was lighter than the previous ones so fingers crossed. Although i don't feel pregnant, no symptoms except i cried for over half an hour today but that was related to work and probably not a symptom.
If you only ovulated over the weekend and if you did conceive the egg and sperm wouldn't have even nearly reached your uterus let alone implanted so it is highly unlikely your body would have signs yet.
Thats what i thought, but in my unemployed state, i have been googling way too much and read people's stories and they had symptoms from 1dpo. im not reading anything into it or looking for symptoms though, just wait and see
I used to get 4 days of positive opks. I also charted as well. After doing 3 months of both I got the hang of when I actually ovulated. It was always the day after the darkest positive (so usually after the second positive opk). When I get onto my computer I'll link my charts so you can see what I'm talking about. I read all these horror stories online about people who get lots of positive opks in a row (like "building up to ovulate, but not actually releasing an egg" ). Totally freaked me out, (so stay away from google!) but got pregnant first month trying, so even with four days of positives you can accurately predict ovulation... Hope that helps
Thanks Raupe, thats good to know. the one i did yesterday was lighter than the others. I haven't charted anything this month but will next month if nothing happens this month. Still getting used to it all.
