Hi there,
First of all I must say, I am not too overly stressed about this cause it might just be me, but thought that I would put it out there and see what you think....
So the average period should be 5-7 days yeh? Mine is only averaging to be about 3 days and maybe 1/2 a day of spotting if I am lucky.
I have been off the pill for 4 months now and my period has gradually been getting lighter and shorter:
Cycle #1 - heavy to medium flow lasting about 4 days
#2 - 2 days light, 1 medium, 2 light and 1 spotting
#3 - 1 medium, 2 light and 1 spotting
#4 - 2 days light, 1 day light/spotting.
Im not quite finished on #4 but I dare say its going to be tapering off today..
So could the light/short flow been I don't have a thick enough lining for an egg to implant or has this got nothing to do with it?
With my successful cycle, I had 3 days light and 3 days spotting..
my periods have been like that for years! id be lucky to have any sort of bleeding after day 2.
if your worried get a CD21 blood test to make sure you're ovulating. maybe an US to check the lining.\
but i never had trouble conceiving
Looking at your last cycle, I'd say you had a very short LP. The lining wouldn't have had time to build up.
I suggest getting some basic blood tests. Get one at CD3 to test estrogen and FHS.
If your estrogen levels aren't high enough, the egg usually isn't great, meaning the corpus luteum isn't great, therefore you don't produce enough progesterone, therefore lining isn't great, therefore implantation is difficult....etc.
Also get one at 7DPO or CD21 to test for ovulation.
Tash - YES my last LP was very short so I guess that makes sense as to why I would be having such a light period now. Back in high school I used to take the extra little estrogen pills to make my cycle longer as I has bleeding every 2 weeks even tho I was on the pill???
Hmmm I wasnt really planning on seeing the doctor this cycle, was going to go through one more and see what this one does. But I don't really want to waste another cycle if its not going to happen anyway. I know I am ovulating cause I got a very strong positive OPK.
Should I go no to see a doctor or wait one more cycle and see how it goes?
Does having a thinner lining now mean that my next period will be light too or does the lining build up during the course of your cycle? Oh you cant see on my chart link, but I have a chem pg on the cycle before last. Could this have any effect on my current estrogren/progesterone levels?
My GP told me yesterday that 3-5 days is ideal because losing blood is losing iron. I am on drugs to make mine only last 3 days now since mine have been averaging 8 days to 3 weeks!
I think your last cycle was like my last one - there was probably something wrong with the corpus lutenum so it couldnt keep producing progesterone, hence the temp nose dive and AF during the LP. If you have concieved before I wouldnt think there would be anything wrong with your lining
