    cluck cluck

So I've been having passing thoughts over the last few weeks about ttc#2
Then I come on bb today and now I'm fighting the urge to jump DF and start right now!!
(Spose it would be a tad awkward considering my sister is on the other couch holding ds lol)
I have always wanted my kids close together, but I don't wanna miss out on enjoying ds, is there any such thing as to close? What are your thoughts? How far apart are you kids and why is it good? Is there anything bad about it?

HAhah I'm so clucky i have names picked out for my next 2 kids lol geez I'm lame

I have 19 months between DS and DD1, just under 16 months between DD1 and DD2, and am due in 2 weeks with DD3, and DD2 is 15 months tomorrow. I love the age gaps, but sometimes feel envious of people with bigger gaps because it is exhausting sometimes, and it would be nice to spend time with a newborn with another one at school instead of hanging around as well lol!!!

I have 18months between my girls. I love this age gap. DD1 has handled everything wonderfully and absolutely loves her sister to pieces. I have not had any of the issues of DD1 not wanting to go to bed because DD2 is not (I guess I am meaning no jealous reactions) I started trying when DD1 was 6 months and it took 5 cycles to fall. DD1 has playgroup twice a week and I love this time that I get to spend with just DD2, this makes a big difference. I do want a 3rd one day but I will hopefully try and hold out until DD1 starts kindy. So DD2 will be about 3-4. Gosh that is if I really can hold out. Been on BB really makes it hard to want to wait. I am like you I get so clucky.

Oh I just noticed your sons birthdate. What a fantastic date.

I have 4 years (give or take a few months) between my 3 kids and there will be 19 months between my youngest and the one im pregnant with now.
I do love the big age gap as it did mean i always had one on one time with each of them and my eldest is such a huge help.
On the downside, they dont always play nicely or get along but when they do its great!
Im stressing a bit about only having 19 months between my last 2...

    Thanks arimehs Eden and kazzo
DF and i both come from families with like 3/4 year gaps, but both want our kids close together, and i have friends with bubs around 18 months apart and they love it.

Thanks kazzo i agree its a wicked birthdate as well and we gets loads of comments about it, he was 12 days late so i think he was holding out for it hahah

ETA - thanks ubba, there is 4 years between me and my older bro and 3 yrs between me and my younger sis and we always had arguements like any siblings but played together more than we fought. But we just acted siblings, I wonder if having them closer would make them more like friends??
could have just been us though

I have 11 months between DD2 and DD3 (they were born in the same year) and 13 months between DD3 and DS4...so 24 months between all three.
As they get older it will get easier but I do have to say it is probably a little to close...I am absolutely exhausted most days.
My DD1 and DS1 are 17 months apart and i think that is an awesome gap...they are still really close at 14 and 15 (though they have there moments.
The first few years with close children are the hardest...but it does get easier.
Make sure you have a really good double pram...it makes it so much easier to get out of the house.

Raffy, no, not lame - just VERY organised & on the ball! PMSL.
You know, whatever age gap that you choose, is the BEST!
There are 2y3m between my 2 girls & IMO that's perfect - for US!
If you have 2 years or 10 years, it'll be YOUR family & it'll work for YOU!

Wow rainbow brite, so will they be in the same year at school? Your an amazing woman for doing that I'm glad you liked 17 months coz we are thinking like 16-18 months if all goes well. I fell pg 1st cycle with my angel bub and then 1st again with ds so I'm being realistic and no might not happen again but praying we aren't ttc for to long

Hahah thanks Jayne. I think your right

My 2 boys are 20months difference and I love it. At first it was really exhausting though - but I always knew it would just better and better as they got older. Now 1 year later I can already see the wonderful bond between them and they are starting to really play together - I love when they sneak down to DS1's room and its all quiet and I go to check and here they are playing cars together on DS'1 mat. They love to make each other laugh too...I love it!

We were unofficially trying to conceive #2 straight after DS1 was born - so was prepared to have a close age gap between them too if it was meant to be (DS1 was a fertility baby - so was happy to give nature a chance with DS2)

But if we were to go round 3...I would love to wait til DS2 is about 3. My reasoning is that by the time I'm due to return to work...12months later (cause I probably will have to) DS1 will be in school and that way I can continue to have DS2 in childcare a couple of days a week so that I can have some quality time with #3 and keep up with housework and catch up on sleep as it was and still is exhausting when my boys take it in turns waking during the night - DS2 has only in the last few weeks beginning to sleep through the night more regularly - but DS1 has taken over in the mulitple wakes ups instead

Thanks frangipani. That's so cute your boys love playing together. Must melt your heart

ds has been sleeping through the night since about 2 months he sleeps from 8.30-6 (at the earliest sometimes even til 7.45-8ish) so if he keeps that up and even if number 2 wakes during the night i think i could handle that. Plus DF gets up on the weekend and does it so i have at least 2 sleep ins a week which keeps me going. But no a 'bad' night for us is waking between 5 and 6

No they will not be in the same year because in WA the cut off is June 30th...kids that have a birthday in the second half go to school the following year. Which I am pleased about.
Good luck TTC and I hope it happens nice and quickly for you.

Between DD1 and DS1 there is 4 years, between DS1 and DS2 there is 22 months, between DS2 and DD2 there is nearly 6 years, between DD2 and DD3 there is 21 months and between DD2 and this new one there will be 2 1/2 years. I've found the closer together they are born the better they play with each other. Although my DS2 is really good about playing with his little sisters

We are having 2yrs 3.5mths between our kiddies wanted to enjoy DD first and BF her as long as I could without pg affecting the BF (which it did in the end but she was 22mths so that was ok).

Ooh glad it's not just me, I was just thinking of starting a thread asking the same thing! DD1 is only 2 months old now but I was thinking of starting ttc again when she's 6 months but the 'is it too soon' question was getting at me! Good to hear of others stories...
