AF/Pill (levelen), bfn but strange things happening!

Hi Ladies!

Hoping someone here who knows more about how the pill works than I do can explain to me what might be going on as I am more confused after reading the leaflet!

I'm not TTC at the moment and have been back on the pill taking Levelen ED for about 3 months.

Is it correct that when you take the sugar pills, you are not having a true AF, it is a withdrawal bleed or something? Would like to know more about this...

Just trying to learn how it works as I feel very strange again this month and not sure if this pill is right for me or if the BFN I got today might be a BFP in a few days.

Ok so here we go.

Started sugar pills as per packet on Saturday last week (today is Friday). I had a very very light bleed for a day on Monday whereas last month I had my normal horrible heavy bleed that lasted 5 days. Since Monday I've had cramping and tingling bbs sometimes. Today we are at friday and still having cramps and feel like AF should arrive any day however I am not bleeding at all.

If anyone knows a bit more about how the pill works and if Levelen is a strong or not so strong one, feel free to enlighten me!

I just never get cramps after a bleed, and my "period" while on this pill is never that short or light..Very confused and think if I am not accidently PG then I need to try a different pill as this one doesn't seem to agree with me like it used to.

Hi roquen. I got pg on the pill, 'af' still came but was light and pink, and lasted around 24 hrs. You're right, af on the pill is simply a withdrawal bleed from the hormones, hence the bleeding beginning a few days after you start taking the sugar pills. Test again in a few days, otherwise I would consider switching to another brand. Xx

I personally didn't have much luck with Levlen ED.

Not to say there is anything wrong with it, it just wasn't right for me.

After I told my GP of my symptoms (similar to yours) she tested me (BFN) and then changed my pill to Estelle.

I personally suffer from PCOS and she told me Levlen ED is not the best option for women with this disorder.

I would talk to your Dr about it.

Thanks for the replies. Another BFN today so I will go to the doc this week and talk about trying something else. I just don't feel right!

Hi Roquen. I hope everything is ok.
I'd say go get a blood test as sometimes there isn't the right amount of HCG to have a positive test - for example my stepmother did 5 home preg tests over 5 weeks, and got two blood tests in the foloowing two weeks... the second blood test came up as positive, all the other tests were negative. The ultrasound three weeks later showed that she was almost 13 weeks preg.
Stranger things have happened lol.
I myself can't use the Levlen ED pill since having DS, makes me very VERY hormonal, nauseus, and not a nice person to be around, and gives me breakthrough bleeds which it never did before DS.

Oh, and DS was concieved while on the pill too, I'd been on it for almost 3 months when I found out I was preg.
