TTC and CT scan using contrast...

I needed a CT scan using contrast on my chest yesterday in hospital, they stressed the importance that I wasn't pregnant but I forgot to ask what impact it might have on TTC this cycle.

I'm currently on day 7 of my cycle so the test was done day 6, ovulation wont be for a week or so.

I've tried googling for info but again it just covers pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Will I be fine to continue TTC or should we give this month the flick and try next cycle?

Toomanyshoes, I have been wondering the exact same thing - except for an MRI.

I think I ovulated yesterday (CD14 and had some O pain) but I had a MRI yesterday just before lunch. Like you they asked if I was pregnant (I wish!!!) but I am not sure if it would have destroyed/damaged the egg.

It would be ridiculously unlikely that I could/would get pregnant this month anyway, but I did wonder...

    Thanks n2l

I'm kicking myself for not asking while we were still at the hospital!

It's unlikely we would be successful this cycle as well but I would hate to get pregnant and then find out something was wrong because of the CT.

Maybe its best to play it safe?

You should be fine to ttc. Radiation doesn't effect eggs until they start dividing. So after conception.

If you want further reassurance ring where you had your scan, or any large imaging department in Melbourne and aak to speak to chief radiographer or radiation physicist.

Hope all is ok with you 2ms X

And n2l MRI is fine. No radiation in an MRI machine.

    Thanks JM

Hoping tomorrow I'll get some answers as to why I've had serve chest pain since Tuesday morning. A blood test at the hospital indicated it might have been a blood clot but the CT was clear. Got sent home with "take it easy, see your GP Friday" so trying to hang out until then.

They were convinced it was just heart burn but I've never had it before not even during pregnancy and I don't imagine heartburn would be bad enough to have me doubled over in pain and unable to breathe.

The pain has also moved from the centre of my upper chest to the right, the pain has eased off quite a bit expect when I try to breathe deeply and it becomes rather sharp. My main issue at the moment is how tired I am, I ended up sleeping from 7.30 last night until 10.30 this morning, I know the kids woke me a couple of times but I must have fallen straight back to sleep.

    Thanks Junglemum!!!

Like I said, the chances of me getting UTD this month - or any month for that matter! - are ridiculously slim!! But it still pays to know these things

Toomany - Could it be gallstones??? That can feel like heartburn/indigestion and it is very painful.

Good luck!!!! I hope you get answers really soon.

    take care x

toomanyshoes- did they check for pericarditis? My DH had similar symoms, we thought he was having a heartattack but thats what it was. His was worse when he lay down ( ? I think? or the other way round??) which is a common symptom. Hope you get an answer soon x

They thought it might have been that but again all the tests said no.

One of the tests I had was positive/higher than usual which indicates blood clots, but when the CT didn't show anything they couldn't tell me why the blood test said yes. All I got was "well there could be 100 different reasons".......
