Thinking of TTC Baby Nos 3 @ 41 ! Anyone conceived over 40? Tell me your story :-)

    Hi there ladies,

Just been thinking about TTC again
We had no trouble conceiving our first two babies- but I snuck them in just under 40!!
Bit nervous about if its going to be harder this time round and would love to hear some positive
stories and even some not so positive for a reality check!!

    Thanks in advance

Well we tried while I was ( or rather am) 40. We had to use clomid as I don't ovulate every month (same as when I was 38 with DD), but fell first round. Am 20 weeks today.
    Good luck!

I'll be 42 next week and Miss A is 10 weeks old. I was very lucky in that I fall pregnant very easily. I was unlucky in that I fell, lost, fell, lost etc four times. We then trundled off to the fertility specialist. I had injections to trigger ovulation and then injections throughout the TWW. I was incredibly lucky and got a BFP first time and then started with progesterone tablets 4x daily and injections 3x weekly until we got to 13 weeks.

I don't "do" pregnancy well, but this last time I was very sick the entire time and it was very difficult being like that while having two other kids to care for. i then had a great natural, drug free birth at 40+8.

It was really tough mentally, emotionally and physically but now that she's here I can't imagine not having had her ITMS.

Good luck with whatever you decide

NicNac - CONGRATULATIONS!! That is wonderful news - halfway there (the rest will fly!) I guess I will see if I need to go on clomid or get some assistance if things dont happen quickly - thank you for sharing

LuluHB - Wow thats wonderful - hopefully I can emulate what you have done - how are you finding the jump from 2 to 3 ?

Thanks again for your inspiriration to give it a try

Not the same but my mum has had 2 in her 40s one at 42 and one at 46.
She had no trouble getting pregnant in fact the second pregnancy was a big surprise!

I have actually found it a heap easier to go from two to three than I thought it would be. There are frustrations obviously, but generally Miss A slots into our family so easily and she is such a content, easy going baby. The hardest part at the moment is getting time with Miss I and Miss E together away from Miss A and also on their own but we're getting there

Thanks LuluHB - that is good to hear - I hear that 2 to 3 is not too bad - I did find 1 to 2 pretty major (like you they were pretty close in age too)
    Thanks for your positive words

Bellany - WOW thats amazing your Mum is a legend- does this run in the family ??

    Have GREAT DAY !!

I was 40 when I fell pregnant with DS. I was very lucky in that I fell pregnant with ease and had a great pregnancy. Every woman is different. Good luck.

I fell pg naturally at 41 with DD but she was stillborn at 41 weeks. If you are having a baby over 40 it is my recommendation to have the induction when they offer it as stillbirth rates are MUCH higher in older women. We then went to an FS as it'd taken us 8 yrs to fall with DD. She tracked ovulation for me ......lots of giving blood but no biggy.....and I fell at the third round of this. I am now 44 and have a 1 yo DS. I would love aother but having a baby at 45/46 might just be pushing things.......

I had my first baby at 38 and my second at 41. Fell pregnant both times naturally within a couple of months. I charted both times so that I could make best use of time

I have difficult pregnancies but it's not related to age. If it wasn't for that, I think I would have tried to fit in another one.

Now, at 43 my cycle is definitely changing and I think (just my gut feeling) that it would be much trickier to fall pregnant now. Though I've done my family history and a lot of women in my family have had babies in their mid-forties.
