TTC after a Blighted Ovum

Not sure if there is a Question out here like this but i tried to find it before i posted

OK here it goes..
Ron and I been TTC for 9 yrs well we finally got pregnant && we found out on Dec 14 09 then on Dec 22 we lost the baby @ 7 weeks and 6 days.. They are calling it a Blighted ovum..

Well This is how it went they was going to set me a date on Jan 7 when i go to the OB/Gyn .. But i have naturally passed everything It all started on Dec 26 ,27,28 and then on dec 29 i bleed all 4 days then stop bleeding on Dec 30th and 31st.. then spotted on Jan 1st then Nothing on Jan 2 and 3rd.

I have Irregular periods and sometimes they last 2- 5 days..
So i should be starting AF here in the next few days.
My 2 Questions is:
1....Is it possible to get pregnant during a miscarriage or right after a miscarriage has happen?

2.... Do i have a higher risk of having another blighted ovum or another miscarriage?

Firstly I am so sorry for your loss . From what I understand you can get pregnant straight after a MC even without a period in between. I don't believe you are any more likely to have another blighted ovum in the future just cause you have had one. I am not an expert though.... I also had a blighted ovum and went on to have a healthy baby boy. I wish you all the very very best on your journey tp your forever baby - may it be short

Thanks Rach... that does give alittle comfort in knowing that you have conceived after a blighted ovum.. if you dont mine me asking did it take long after the blighted ovum to conceive?

I thought u could get pregnant after a miscarrige just wasnt sure..
We really want to try but we didnt know if it would harm me or the baby if we did..
I got soo many questions to ask the OB/Gyn on jan 7th...

I do know that blighted ovum is caused by chromsome defects or low progestrone..
which i want to be tested for alot of things to see if there is something to help me ..

I know you can get pg after a mc even before your next af would be due..

I had a blighted ovum with my first loss (2001) I took a while to fall pg again but went on to have another son.. I had another mc 10 months later but it was not a blighted ovum and have 2 more children since then as well

We had to have IVF to get pregnant in the first place, our FS said sometimes it just happens.... They don't know why?? It is just one of those things (not the easiest thing to hear when you are going through it I know ). So, we did the cycle end of jan by April had the D&C as I was about 8 weeks along, and showing no sign s of natural miscarriage - it would have happened but I didn't want to wait. I felt pregnant the moment I saw those two lines of the pee stick. Then I got one period, and in the June we did a forzen transfer - it didn't work I was cool with that, I never felt PG. Then in the November we did another fresh cycle - put two embies in and fell PG with one, my son Eli! So all up we had been TTC a la natural for 5 years, and 1 year of IVF treatment gave us one angel baby, and one forever baby and we have 3 frosties waiting.
As for hurting you or bubs in trying. I think they usually recommend one cycle before trying again, but stranger things have happened. Keep up your vitamins and eat well, IMO if you feel you are ready your ready.

Rach81: I seen were you cyle end of Jan then D&C in april.. can i ask why they waited so long?

I will know on Jan 7th if they still wanna do D&C , but i believe they wont since i did everything natural on dec 29th..

I just wish if my body was going to go into reg cycle of AF or not.. if im going to start i should in the next few days..

i dont know if im crazy but i feel like im so ready to TTC right now... or if its just me still grieveing over the loss and wanting to fill that spot..

im going to wait till JAn 7 and see what they have to say... ill update in here when i know something.


Im taking Flinstone vitaims.. since Dec 14.. and still taken My aunt said those are good ones so i decided to get them..

The IVF cycles take a while. We started cycle late Jan, had embie put back in mid Feb, then I was 8 weeks along before we knew what was happening. I found out on a Thursday and I had D&C on the following Monday. So we didn't wait long from knowing it was a no go to having D&C if that makes sense? Wishing you all the best for the 7th and I hope you get PG soon

Hi, I am in exactly the same boat as you.

We had a blighted ovum in mid Septmeber and had a D&C at the time as I couldn't handle waiting for it to all be over. This is our 3rd miscarriage, but we have 3 children as well.

My Ob told me to wait 2-3 months before TTC again, simply to give my body a chance to get back to normal and heal. It has now been 3 months, almost 4 (we had to wait an extra month due to other circumstances) and we are in the TWW.

After my first miscarriage a couple of years back my first reaction was to get pregnant again. ASAP. And 6 weeks later we were. However a scan at 6 weeks revealed that there was problems and a D&C and testing followed. It showed chromosomal abnormalities. I will always wonder if my haste to get pregnant again so quickly somehow affected the viability of the next pregnancy. That said, there are plenty or women who get pregnant straight after a mc and go on to have healthy babies. Age and time are not on my side at the moment, so I don't want to have to wait 3 months again if something goes wrong again.

If you feel you are ready to start trying again, then I say go for it. You can wait for your cycle to start again or you can have a bit of fun and if it happens it happens.

I am sorry for your loss and hope that 2010 will be the year you get your baby.

Thanks sweetie.. reading about others experience and makes me at ease ..
See that is what im afraid that its going to be to late im 30 now.. and i wanted one b4 that age got it but taken from me.. so im hoping and praying that 2010 is the year and that everything will go well...
we to blood work tomorrow to see if my hgc levels have dropped its only been 6 days since i passed everything with no bleeding now.. then i go see the doc on Jan 7 i have soo many questiosn to ask and i do hope i get them answered...
