My husband and I are eager to start trying for bub number 2. Problem is, my period hasn't returned after having our son so I doubt I'm ovulating. Our son is now 15 months old and breast feeds once a day. I'd like to keep breast feeding. I started tracking my temperature about 2 weeks ago and can't see any evidence of ovulation yet.
I'm worried my period won't come back for ages and we won't be able to start trying.
Welcome! I'm in a similar boat - not that DH and I have 100% decided we want another but I want some control over whether or not we do have one.
And no AF yet! I'm worried about ovulating and not knowing... AF returned for me last time when DD was around 6mths so I have no idea what's happening this time round.
I conceived ds without getting my period. Dd was 17 months and breastfeeding twice a day or more. I noticed a change in my mucous, sex drive and then felt ovulation so decided to try and conceive and fell pg straight away. I wanted a smaller age gap but didn't want to wean...so I just waited for those signs.
Hang in there, you can fall pg while breastfeeding, but you may need to wait until your body is ready. For me it feels like the perfect age gap now because it's exactly as nature intended.
I know how having no AF can be when TTC. My last cycle was 100 days and so my FS suggested going on clomid because I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I wasn’t completely fussed on trying medication yet so I am exploring Chinese Traditional medicine. The Doctor I am seeing has been doing 2 sessions a week of acupuncture along with some herbs. I am a major needle phobic but I can handle it surprisingly. In the session he combines electro-acupuncture, cupping and normal acupuncture. It seems to be working though because I have ovulated on day 25 this time instead of 86. So now it’s just the TWW!! I really recommend looking into Acupuncture. It seems to be getting my system working better now. So even if it’s not successful this time at least I know I will be ovulating more regular to at least TTC. Hope this helps and all the best!!
Naturopathically you could also try taking supplements that can promote ovulation and restore regular cycles. I'd suggest Chaste tree, EPO, Fish oil supplements, a multi vitamin and if haven't checked get your iron levels checked so if depleted you can take iron tablets.
