    TTC/Pregnacy Multi Vitamins

I have recently started taking a conception/pregnancy multi vitamin and wondered if it is important to be taken at the same time every day? I am hopeless with remembering to take tablets (hence the reason I dont go on the pill) but have been really good at taking them, just not at the same time each day.

I don't think it matters as long as you're taking them each day. Vitamins are not as sensitive to timing as the pill. The thing with pg vitamins is that it's ideal to take them 3 months prior to TTC - that way you're sure to have good levels of folate and iron before falling preg. I think a minimum that's ok is 1 month though.

One thing you can do is put them near your toothbrush in the bathroom to remind you each day.

ETA - I'm sorry for your recent loss.

Thanks Kaz. I havent ever taken vitamins with my pregnancies before besides folic acid, which I started taking as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I went on and had healthy full term babies. After my m/c in Jan, I decided I would take multis 'just incase' and although I have been taking folic acid on its own for 5 months now I have just started the multis.

Oh I'm sure not taking multi vits had nothing to do with your loss darl

I think they're great though (esp as you already have kids to chase after!) in helping to keep all your levels good so you're less prone to illness. I was incredibly tired during my preg (who isn't??) but only got a mild cough through winter for a couple of weeks. Normally if I am that tired for an extended period I would get sick and I put it down to the multi's keeping me healthy.

Thanks Kaz, totally understand the multis had nothing to do with the loss, it was just something that happened. I re read my post and worded it all wrong. I meant to go along the lines of taking multis to boost myself up and make me 'more conceivable'. Especially cause I do have 2 kids to chase plus work, plus run the house. I think there is a reason I am the queen of nanna naps!

    Hi Ubba,
Just wanted to say sorry to hear of your loss...
Also I am back taking the Blackmores preconception ones plus a folic acid tablet each day. I was taking mine 5months prior to our last bean and whenh I found out switched stright to the preg ones. I think either would be fine though...
Hope your TTC journey is short..
    Em

I started taking the Natures Own pregnancy gold when I was at CD 5 this month. With DD I started taking folate as soon as I suspected I was pregnant and my GP told me not to take anything else until I was 12 weeks pregnant. Then I started taking Elevit. It wasn't until I was taking the Elevit when I found out I was supposed to be taking it from before I was pregnant, and DD turned out just fine. I'm only taking the preg vitamins now because we're TTC. I used to take centrum everyday, when I got up in the morning for my first loo trip.

I have been taking the Cenovis Pregnancy and breastfeeding capsules. I only got them cause they were the cheapest off the shelf at the time (about $15 I think) Like I said earlier I havnt taken Vit supps before with other pregnacies except for folic acid. I am mainly taking it for myself, to boost my self up!
