Vasectomy reversal vs IVF

Hi,
DH had the snip about 12 years ago and we have recently started ttc. DH went to see a specialist and he recommended we go straight to ivf, as it has been over 10 years.

I recently read about someone (on bellybelly) in a similiar situation who had the reversal and within 6 months they had success.

Just wondering if anyone else had any experiences? I know someone else who had the reversal and then had to go through ivf anyway.. So confusing

Hi I'd recommend going straight to IVF.

Well I can only tell you our story, my husband had the reversal after 20 or more years, the reversal worked but we did not know about the antibodies that stick to the sperm making them unable to swim straight! We had to do IVF anyway.

Thanks for your reply Rob. We went straight to the ivf and were successful after 2 short cycles and one frozen embryo transfer - and we are now expecting a baby girl

In the meantime we were thinking of doing the reversal for next time we ttc, but I think we might just go back to ivf in a few years time

Well done mum2B. We have done 2 fresh cycles and one frozen without sucess, but we have just booked on to do a frozen cycle. With our first nothing thawed of the 5 so we just have to pray that the 3 we have now are fighters. But your news is encouraging. Did u get pg on a fresh or frozen cycle?
