Hi
I'm brand new to the site and was wondering if you would be able to give me some advice. My husband had a vasectomy nearly 13 years ago when our third child was 3 months old, as we thought we were done with having children. For a while now we have been discussing how we both would like another baby but are unsure which route to choose as we have read alot of conflicting info with both options ie vasectomy reversal or IVF.
I am 37 years old and my husband is 40 so obviously if we are going to go ahead we need to do so as quickly as possible as we are not getting any younger and I'm at an age where my fertility rate dramatically decreases.
I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience and what route you found the most beneficial. Thanks.
Hi. I dont know about either topics apart from a friend whos husband had a reversal and they had no luck trying to conceive tho she had PCOS and ended up having IVF which resulted in two children!! I just wanted to say goodluck!!!
I have just joined this forum. My partner and I are also weighing up similar options. He had a vasectomy just over 5 years ago - about 4 months before we met. I am not sure the best choice. I think that the reversal would be less invasive as there would be no need (hopefully) for ivf and also the procedure to extract semen sounds to be pretty invasive (needle...). I am not sure of the cost comparisons, however I get the impression that it takes a few goes for ivf to work. I am not sure with the semen extraction - if they extract enough so that the procedure only needs to occur once!?!
I am also interested in medicare/health fund rebates.
Your posting was 6 months ago - so I wonder if you have any updated information?
