I've just found out I am positive for factor 5 leiden. I've had two x mc's in the past 3 months but my OB said that he won't give me the injections just yet and to see what happens when I fall PG next. I obviously have had this all my life and fell PG with my DD no problems at all but now TTC #2 have had lots of issues.
Anyone else have this and have some good stories on falling PG??
I made the mistake an googled this but got some horrible scary stories so called my OB again and the MW assured me it's ok and that she has it with 4 kids and gave me a bit more info but still a bit scary..
Hi mummaof1, so sorry to hear of your mc and troubles TTC #2. I personally think it is an issue and from what I know you should be treated though as I believe that would require clexane to thin the blood which has risks, I can understand your dr not being willing to prescribe this without you already being pregnant. Perhaps the only thing you could do is poas as early as you can and get a BT to confirm right away and get on meds ASAP. Maybe your dr might suggest low dose aspirin in addition to thin the blood as less risks than clexane. Or as a last resort you could see a fertility specialist and cycle under their care as they may prescribe meds earlier.
Just FYI I have mthfr one of the same thrombophilia blood clotting disorders but couldnt conceive without meds. I take daily clexane and low dose aspirin for entire preg.
my aunty also has it, so does my mum, thankfully i have not tested postive for it,
my aunty had a still born boy found out at 34 weeks, she only found out she had factor 5 ledian and thrombophilia once they tested lots on bubs, thankfully she got pregnant a yar later with a girl who is now 9yrs old, but she went threw alot needles and all sorts of checking to get her, she had several misscarriages later and got hubby to get snip so they didnt have to go threw it anymore
my mum only just found out she has it (she smokes and has all sorts of probs and a few mild strokes and only now just got tested for it she is 51) she has 3 kids , me my broher 32, and my other brother boy 15, and she didnt have any dramas or no anything while pregnant, although older brother was born premmmie, and younger brother not sure but he was tiny and healthy, and me the biggest baby she had,
i have heard some people say its a problem when your pregnant with a boy for some reason they think, i dont no if true but alot of people in my family have only lost boys.

my aunty only got the injections once she got pregnant, soon as you find out your pregnat is when u need the blood thinners and what not to help stick better as far as i no, my aunty only got it all once she found out, so she was charting so your dr may be right, its only high risk once your pregnant so they wont do anything untill your pregnant
