I suggest you wait until your AF is late, otherwise it can get a bit expensive testing every month.

The earliest I got a positive home test was when AF was five days late and it was a realllllly faint line....but definitely positive.

I waited until my period was a week overdue- and the line was faint for me too.
I did another test a few days later and the line was much darker- so the preg hormone obviously rises very rapidly after that point.

I think it depends on the test.. some say you can test a day or two before AF. But have to agree with the saving cash perspective! Hard to wait, I know! But hCG hormone (the hormone pg tests pick up) increases daily, so the longer you wait, the better indication you'll get from a HPT.

I think with the sensitivity of tests nowadays, first day from when AF is due is a good time to start thinking about testing.
