    when to give up hope?

I am just wondering at what stage I should 'give up' on this cycle. As far as I can guess (and it is a guess because I have just gotten af back and she has only visited the once since have DS 11months ago - I am also still breastfeeding), I am about 7 days overdue to receive af. All the HPT's I have done have been negative.

I guess I am just not sure if I should still be holding out hope until af does show up, or if I should maybe accept that things still aren't working down there properly, and that I am not pregnant.

In another thread, someone posted that implantation can occurr up to 12 days post ovulation. my real problem is I don't know when (or if) I even ovulated.

I guess this is more a vent then anything. but thanks for listening.

    Hi Misty,

I cannot really offer and advise but I would like to offer a , I too am TTC whilst my AF has not retured since the birth of DD and I am breastfeeding (expressing actually), it is so frustrating not knowing when you are ovulating. I just keep doing the BD and test once a month. Maybe you could just keep checking once a week to see if you are pg this time round and keep doing the BD in the meantime.

Have you tried tracking your temp, cervix position, CM etc as a way of knowing when you are ovulating? I personally don't, I find it all too hard Although I have checked my position today and it is very high... mmm am I ovulating or pg... too confusing for me!

Good Luck with your TTC journey.

    Deanne.

I'd suggest temping. If your temp was up higher than usual and your AF was overdue you could be pretty sure you were pregnant before even testing.

Your cycles can take a while to regulate after having a bub and b'feeding. I got my first AF back when DS2 was 6 months old and I didn't get another AF for 45 days (I used to have a 28 day cycle), I have not had a regular cycle since either!

    Good luck

Similarly to Trish I got AF back at 5 weeks PP... then somethingg like 8, 12, 24 and now we're coming up on another 8 weeks with no AF. I'm still not pregnant despite her returning 10 days after i finished PP bleeding.
Sorry to say but I wouldnt hold your breath. Even when AF is back BFing can prevent implantation. *sigh*

Thanks for the replies, AF has returned - which is a relief, because now I can TTC again this cycle. I am planning on using opk's to see if I am even ovulating.

If this cycle doesn't work out I have decided that I am going to wean DS (I would probably do this soon anyway as he is a year old on NOV 7th, and I don't think I would bf much longer then that).
