    where's my mucous?

    Hi there,

After being on the Pill for about 11 years, I went off the pill at the end of August.

AF came after a day (bright and heavy) and I've been dry as a bone ever since.

Was looking forward for checking and charting my CM and looking for egg whites, etc, but nada.

Stupid question - can too much sex dry you out?

Or can it just take a while? Early days I know, but would love any ideas...

Milly - to be perfectly honest I could never pick up a distinct pattern with mucous (and that is after nearly 2 years ttc). Everyone is different though, there are some ladies in here who can very reliably track their cycle through mucous. I found other ways more helpful (taking temp & opk's). I didn't find sex would dry me out. Good luck and I hope you get a BFP real soon

You may not always get the egg white stuff. What you should look for is a change. ie you get dry days and then a sticky one, or sticky secretions and all of a sudden you have a wet one etc.
In your case you should really try and take notice of any possible mild pain that could signal ovulation or take your temperature to try and pinpoint when it's happening.

    MillyC you're right, it can just take a while. the best advice is dietry b/c you're essentially waiting for things to return to normal post bc. it is a great idea to start temp charting now so there is some info if reqd down the track. But all you need to do for the time being is maintain a healthy lifestyle, ie work/play balance, diet and exercise and adequete sleep. some foods which may help to return the CM which you can add to your diet where convenient are;

Aduki Beans, Apricot, Beef, Beetroot, Bone Marrow (stock), Chicken Egg, Calamari, Dandelion (tea), Dark Leafy Greens, Dates, Dang Gui (chinese herb- angelica) consullt with a Dr of Chinese med for this, Grape, Kidney Bean, Longan, Microalgae (seaweed / spriralina), Nettle (tea), Octopus, Oyster, Parsley, Sardine, Spinach, Sweet Rice, Watercress

Apple/ Asparagus, Cheese, Clam, Crab, Duck, Duck Egg, Honey, Lemon, Malt, Mango, Milk, Pea, Pear, Pineapple, Pomegranate, Pork, Rabbit, String beans, Tofu, Tomato, Watermelon, Yam

I hope this helps! take care and all the best!

Hopefully you will find some sort of pattern soon. I think Raven makes a good point about looking out for ovulation type pains. It might take awhile to recognise everything, but you will get there.

I have always had noticeable mucous, but the month I fell pregnant with the twins I had absolutely none for the whole month (never happened before). Yet I ovulated TWICE!!

Here's hoping you get a BFP soon!

My first month off the pill gave me heaps of EWCM (with jelly-like ckumps) so I thought great!

My second month there was only watery CM and ovary pain on my left side

I'm currently on CD 7 of the 3rd month of TTC so we'll see what this month brings...obviously it will take some time for our bodies to settle after the pill though

You're right Emz16, and its only natural that when a period is forced (like on ocp), instead of allowing a natural rythym, that sometimes your body loses more resources than it otherwise may. the end result being time required to return to normal. I do not condone the use of ocp, personally I think it is overprescribed, and its long term effects are underestimated, but, it is widely used so the issue really is how to treat those effects. Patience is certainly nessecery and i truly believe the wait can be shortened by consult with a natural medicine practitioner;-)
hang in there and let me know if you've any qns!
