Guess what my lovely DH and the kidlets got me for my christmas present - Betty is black and sparkly and utterly gorgeous :dance: I am already planning the first thing to made in it day after tomorrow - nougat. With cherries, pistachios, hazelnuts and honey :)
DH is considering getting me one (feel bad much after he got an iPad for Christmas and I got a pair of leggings lol) I'm not a good cook but hoping this will change things. Anyways I've seen some at Costco docklands and was wondering how it would work with the warranty? As they are an American firm importing?? Would anyone know??
I made Pizza dough and am so in love!!!!! I'm going to have a crack at bread later today and if all goes well do not plan to buy bread ever again!!!!!!
Also making a quiche for diner tonight and pizza again tomorrow night when my bestie and her family visit! :)
When DD and I made pizza the other day, she was very cute - stroking it and encouraging Ruby to mix "you're doing a great job Ruby!" "just a little more mixing please Ruby". Very cute. KA appreciation starts early in this house!

HERE is a link for an artisan bread I have made a few times with mine hun, easy and delicious!!!! I make mine on a pizza stone - turns out fabbo each time!!
Well the nougat turned out ok - not great, because I don't think the sugar syrup quite got hot enough to make it set properly owing to a Little Mister who decided he didn't want to sleep as long as I was hoping, but it is definitely tasty. And Betty did a stellar job of beating the egg whites - soooooooo much easier than standing there with a hand-held mixer!

That bread looks great Tanstar! We cheated a little and used a Lauske's (or something) pack from the supermarket. It comes with the flour measured out and some yeast in a sachet then you add the rest and do the rest. Was super easy and taste's AWESOME!
I just made some shortcrust pastry for a quiche and it seems to be going ok (so far!). Looking forward to having it for dinner :) After dinner, DD wants to make cup cakes and DH wants to use Ruby when I'm at work tomorrow to make desert for tomorrow night. It will either be Pav or Lemon Tart. Oh I love my KA!
Betty and I made a berry pav with marscapone cream for dessert for a bbq last night - so EASY and a big hit as it turned out beautifully. Now I just have to figure out how to make use of the 6 egg yolks in my fridge - thinking maybe lemon curd for a tart or something.
Tanstar, that bread looks delish - might have to try it when our hot weather finishes on Wed. (I refuse to put the oven on in 40+ temps)

is there such a thing as a food processor type attachment for a KA? Thinking about next year's choc balls already - current food processor/blender combo thing isn't really up to scratch anymore

Just to clarify tho as I was also looking at the same thing Leckert, the KA food processor is a completely separate machine. There is no food processor type attachment for the KA Artisan Stand Mixer.:)

MG - the vanilla one on the instruction manual with the ice cream attachment is sensational. I've tried a few now, but keep going back to that one. Added Oreos to it as well to make it cookies and cream has been a big hit too.
So, Molly is beautiful, shiny, bright red and sitting on my bench top! :dance: I'm so in love! Even better, she came with a free mincer and $25 of bread/cake mixes. Woohoo!
Oooh, DH has said I have to get the mincer/sausage attachments. Amazon here I come!!

Is Amazon the best place to get extra attachments? Price-wise? And what would be the best ones to get? The guy in the store today said the mincer was the most popular, but that was free anyway lol.

Everton Online has lots of KA attachements they will also order in them for you. I got my KA for christmas a couple years ago from hubby. He bought it from Costco for $600 I got the version that is one below the professional model.
<3 my Kitchen Aid. Means that when I bake it saves me so much time.
Has anyone used the grain grinder attachment for kitchenaid? I'm debating on getting it. I want to grind my own whole grains or seeds to make food for DD. the reviews online hasn't been quite favourable.

I made the rustic fruit bread from the KA website on Monday. Fantastic! Even my DH loved it, it's great with butter. The citrus pinkies are yummy too.

I don't have one (I wish!) but I think they retail for $700-$800?
DP got one for Fathers' Day last year. He looooves it. The pasta attachments are great, but I'm told it's a much better mixer as well.
I can't remember how much ours was because we bought attachments as well. Around $750?
Peters of Kensington have them for $649.
My DH swears it does a better job than the average mixer. The motor is quite powerful (and I have one and love it, but I think the Kenwood is actually more powerful) and uses a different mechanism than standard mixers. It is all metal. I plan to give mine to my daughter.
I have lots of attachments for mine so when I am at full capacity (ie not about ready to drop a baby lol) it gets used most days for different stuff.
I love my ka and use it most days. I think it makes everything better!

My KA, Ruby, has gotten a work-out today...carrot cake, lemon and coconut cupcakes and coconut bread! Can't wait till the kids come home afterschool and smell the house! I love it when they walk in and say "mum what smells so good!". Will freeze alot for school lunches so today has been a productive day. Am debating do I do more?:think:
Bought my kitchenaid as a christmas present from myself and everyone else chipped in! I bought her on the 28th, but have been busy working or suffering migraines, but today - I'm making coleslaw!

I have the mincer, it's great! Only thing I get annoyed with is the little bit of meat at the end that doesn't get pushed through and doesn't get minced lol.
I got the slicer/grater attachment for Christmas, yay! Has been getting a workout :)
I got the mincer and sausage stuffer for Christmas, am yet to have a proper play with it as the smell of raw meat is making me want to puke. DH of course, thinks this is hilarious *sulk*
I have the Ice cream maker. I've never used it as DH makes the ice cream but it is awesome! It does a great job and we have the yummiest ice cream! My one food request when I had dd2 was that there be vanilla ice cream and strawberries waiting for me when I got home. Yum yum yum!
I have the icecream attachment too. I can't say I use it as much as I could but it's been getting more of a workout since I got my thermie.

I might be getting a KA for Christmas :dance: My Mixmaster has started clunking now and then, so I thought I'd see if I could get a payment plan somewhere, mentioned it to my mum, and she said she'd buy it for me! I'm not 100% sure I want to let her drop so much money on me though, so I'm at least trying to find a good price if it ends up happening...
Hooray Teni! They're brilliant mixers. Unfortunately I sold mine :( Money was tight, it was really *needed* and Mum was wanting one. Oh well. It's really good though Teni :)
