Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Kazbah, thanks for reminding me how good and easy TM risottos are. We had a leek and green bean risotto to go with lamb chops tonight, and it was the perfect accompaniment. We're doing the Failsafe elimination diet, so it's nice to have something that's almost exactly like what we'd normally eat!
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I love using the TMX mushroom risotto as a base for adding different veges to mix up the flavours a little. The other night I put baby spinach leaves in the bottom of the thermoserver and when the risotto was done I poured the hot mixture over the spinach leaves, sprinkled some toasted pine nuts and crispy chorizo and Parmesan over the top and let it rest for 5mins. Oh my goodness.. So delicious. :)
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I had a demo on Sunday so will shortly be getting my half price second bowl and blade :-)
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I had a demo on Saturday and got my second bowl set. So excited! Hehehe
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I had one of those risottos the other day - mushroom recipe base, added zucchini and asparagus and a chicken breast that I pan-fried separately. DH doesn't really like the texture of steamed meat. Yum.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Ocean - I have been buying smoked chook breast and slicing that through - yum.
Yeps, I got my second bowl and blade too! Delivered on Friday arvie :) Had a sale at my party so even cheaper :)
Tonight I'm reheating the leftovers for the kid, DH and I will have kievs. Lazy night ;)
Need to make more biscuits - really wish I had a lot of cheap blanched almonds.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Made a recipe tonight for what I thought would be a great spag bol and it was terrible! So so so bland and I had to rescue it by throwing in so much other stuff. So gutted because I was so excited about making a sauce from scratch with no nasties in it. Anyone got an awesome recipe?

Kelly how did your meat turn up? Last time I did that it turned up more like a thin meat paste. Taste was OK, but I tend to throw in heaps of basil, thyme and oregano. Plus red wine.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I made Quirky Jo's & it was great.
Had loads of flavour & the meat was like it should be.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Tonight I made chicken, bacon and garlic creamy sauce pasta and then fruity dream with blueberries for dessert - YUMMO!!!
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
At my demo was asked what I make most often - that is a hard one, because I don't like making the same thing over and over - I love trying new things all the time - but the one thing I do make over and over (although probably never exactly the same) is the Cyndi O'Meara Vegatarian Sausage Rolls - I can use up all sorts of veg in them and they taste great everytime and always loved by the little ones (is the feta, oats and walnuts that I think are the key).
What do other people make over and over?
I am also ordering a Quirky Cooking cookbook from my consultant :-)(saves on postage)
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Kaz, we use half chicken mince and half beef mince here (its really nice!) so there is a different consistency with it - but the thermie did result in it having very fine bits of meat, but not terrible. It was more the sauce that tasted like watery meat with a bit of tomato. I used tomato paste, fresh tomato, fresh basil, dried italian herbs, veg stock, onion, garlic, a bit of bacon, zucchini, a bit of dijon mustard, stevia instead of sugar... trying to remember! Ended up putting tomato soup in it amongst other things to get some depth!
Sounds like another Quirky Cooking recipe for the list then :D
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
What I make most often are-
mushroom risotto (or variations of it!)
Quirky's brown rice and chicken soup
chicken veloute
EDC arrabiata sauce and gnocchi
herb and garlic or ham and cheese pull apart
EDC 5 seed bread
soft boiled eggs
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I make
Custard
Banana muffins
Rice
Pizza base
Pull apart bread
All sorts of biscuits.
I'm sure there is more but this is what I currently make the most.
The Quirky recipe was so simple, my 6yr old made it for us & then we made herb & garlic pull apart bread to go with it.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
I'm hoping to get quirky book too.

I feel the same, so now only do the sauce in the thermie and then I brown the mince in my cast iron casserole dish or the slow cooker and pour the sauce over and finish it off like that.
Just can't get it right and I hate it being the texture of pate. Even when I use the meat they suggest I'm not the hugest fan.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Have you tried cooking the sauce first then adding the meat at the end? I prefer it this way.
Re: Thermomix Lovers United #3
Ordered my second bowl set and chocolate cookbook.
