Cherished - When i started going to the gym again only a few weeks ago, the personal trainer whoc does all my assessments recognised me and asked where'd i'd been. I told her i'll be back into it full swing again, this time coming in 7 days a week. She disagreed with me on that 1. i wasn't training to be an athlete or 2. even athletes have days off from training. Doing physical activity 5 times a week is excellent and plus you did some at work , so don't feel bad about it. We don't want to burn ourselves out in the first week!
-
Well I have been super good with food thus far - I find the hardest part is trying to still get the daily serves of things while restructing calories so much . . . but think I have found a happy medium - in my head anyway, my tummy disagrees.
Here. here on the burgen bread!! I find it heaps more filling then other varieties . . but am going to have to add good bread to the how expensive is food list
Hopefully bub will start getting sleepy soon so can head out for a walk. Would love to do the jog walk, but can't with my pram, tho anyone else find pushin those heavy things up hills adds intensity all on its own? Sigh - I wish I liked excercise . . I only like the feeling AFTER.
-
I hear you on the feeling after exercise. I find the best thing to do is go for a short walk, like 5-10 mins, gets the blood pumping, sweat starting etc... then come home have a rest, a strecth let the hormones kick in and then go back out for a long one. Stuffing around but might be worth it. Or even if you have steps at home, do 5 mins of up and down stairs?
-
Ok, i decided i should do this cause i really gotta loose this weight so my back doesnt hurt anymore! And for other reasons too of course but ykwim?
Im haveing a hard time trying to get motivated though. I was going to buy myself a treadmill but that could be a while off yet. I cant go for a walk because its so hilly around here and yep that may seem lazy but my knees/ankles and hills dont mix due to damage from playing netball when i was a kid. Also have no idea on diet. I am breastfeeding so not sure what i should be doing there either.
-
Oops, I just posted another thread about me wanting to lose weight, but it looks like I should really just join here instead! Am I too late? I'll PM my measurements tonight Trillian.
-
Just in time sterla! Welcome
-
Yay!!! Can't wait to get started actually! :D
-
well girls, i had a few drinks last night, so had a very well lets say lazy day today, feeling the effects, so back on track tomorrw, heading to the gym in the morning me thinks.
oh when i feel like a choccy hit, i buy the little packs of turkish delights, much less fat than regular choccy, so if i need a pick up i go for one of those, but just have to make sure the kids dont eat them all.
-
Tacos are on the menu for tea tomorrow night. What do you girls think? Healthy or not? I'd be using one of those taco kits. If I use lean mince surely they'd be okay???
-
Well girls I don't know what I am more excited about... Ovulating tomorrow (or the next day) OR this challenge!
Chrissy I have been having a glass or 2 of red wine ever sinice AF arived 19 days ago! BUT after tonight I will not be having any because hopefully I will be UTD after ovulating tomorrow YAY.... I know alcohol can lower fetility but bloody hell after ttc since Sep last year I have had Plenty of alcohol free days including my wedding night AND our 4 week honeymoon to Phuket!!! SO what the heck I deserve it
-
sterla tacos are very low cal... I am a walking calorie counter girls so please just ask  I make them with refried beans instead of mince meat (being vego) but it woudl be about the same anyway... go easy on the cheese and I use natural yogurt instead of sour cream YUMMMO infact I sugested to DH earlier that we have them for dinner YAY
-
Sorry I arrived late! I said I was in, and I am!
I have a goal - June 30 is my deadline to reach MY goal weight... I'm on Weight Watchers and I've lost 9. 7kg (with 4.9kg to go!) since NY (I participated in the NY body transformation challenge!). 7wks to go!!!
Somedays I lose motivation, others just self control and somedays :( both...
-
Trillian, I tried sending you a PM but it wouldn't let me. I've sent you an email with my measurements - hope it worked :).
-
We just had chilli con carne for dinner and it was yummo!!!
I'm not sure how it was on the health radar but we both had lots of rice and less of the mince/kidney beans/sauce. I just used and old el paso jar then added a a can of kidney beans. It was soooo delish and considering it was basically mince and kidney beans i figure it can't have been toooo terrible!!
We did an extra block tonight (our walk) and boy it felt good. Gosh I am shocking with inclines, so unfit. You know though, I had a such a good pace and rhythm (breathing) going and then DF made me laugh and I was poooped!
Anyway else pushing 20kg when they're walking?
we also got some bottled water today so i can get back on the wagon with that. the headaches are killing me, making me really tired, but at least i am not detoxing from daily caffeine dose in the form of Mother energy drinks like my DF
-
OK - I've sent my measurements through to Trillian ... I am planning on getting a WII / fit with my k-rudd money if/when it comes!
Didn't see this thread until this evening ... ahh well ... funnily enough I had already started a water challenge! I have a couple of 750ml tupperware drink bottles and aim for 2 of them / day. Exercise is the hardest for me, we have so many hills around here ... but will aim for lunchtime walks @ work!
-
:welcome: Kazbah, Sterla and Scone and anybody else i have missed.
Great weightloss to date Scone
I lose motivation and self control on some days too. The fat demon inside of me keeps calling out to me to be naughty and i cave in some days and i feel sooooooo guilty afterwards :wall:. Why can't we all be naturally skinny?
My DH is one of those naturally skinny people. He can eat anything and everything and is still stick thin. When we went on our cruise last year he gained like 5kg in 2 weeks and he was over the moon. I gained 4kg during that time and have only just been able to shed it. I have PCOS, so the weight sticks and is really hard to lose.
Cookie - the water will definitely aid with you headaches. I was popping pain killers everyday to curb the headaches but since starting to drink at least 2L per day, the headaches have vanished.
Went to the gym last night, did 25 mins of 12% incline walking at 5.4kph, then weights and some more cardio. I burned 450 calories just on the cardio alone. Incline walking sucks, i agree. I could feel the beads of sweat building up on my scalp and then dripping. I was knackered but it felt good.
Does anybody else enjoy eating? I tell DH that i actually enjoy eating and the tastes of food and get a high from it. He doesn't understand. He tells me that he only eats as a necessity of living. I guess that is the difference of being fat and thin. Does anybody else feel the way i do?
-
I'm so excited- picking up my Wii and wii fit this arvo, and DH has promised he will set it up for me after the kids have gone to bed tonight- woohoo. I also do 2-3 workouts a weeks with an outdoor group personal training group which I love, some days he works us so hard I think I am going to be sick, but I keep going back so it must be a good thing. This is the longest I have stuck to an excercise program ever, I have been going for 4 months now, and even though it costs me over $100 a month- I dont mind because I am doing it and I see the benefits. I do a cardio session, and Kickboxing session every week, and a toning session every other week.
I think my goal to work on over the next week is to increase my motivation, I have been starting to slacken off a bit, so it is time to refocus with calorie counting, writing down what I eat and, and getting my eye back on my final goal!
-
I had a bad day too chrissy well not too bad food wise just exercise wise. Back into it today!! Hehe
Im with cherished sterla, i dont think tacos are too bad for you! Yummy too. Now i feel like tacos for dinner lol
Wow sconeonamission great loss to date! That goal is completely reachable! Keep at it!! I think secretly we all give in every now and then...;)
Chilli con carne i havent had that for YEARS cookie, was a bit of a mexican night with a couple of you ladies last night hehe good job with squeezing an extra block in, every little bit counts! Yay for bottled water too, get to drinking! What was causing the headaches?
Welcome kazbah, i think i want a wii, they're so fun haha
Turkish i enjoy food, i love to experiment with cooking too, i just went onto taste website and printed a whole heap of low carb low fat recipies that actually look yummy!
So jealous Ali, maybe i need to leave hints all around the house for DP to get me a wii for chrissy or something, bday and anniversary both gone so chrissy is it hehe thats a huge work out plan you have, good job!! You should look at calorie king. Google it, i use it to count my calories i love it. COmpletely free too which is amazing for what it does!!
AFM Dinner last night consisted of lamb cutlets and vegies, not too bad i dont think? Didnt get our usual walk in tho, a poor lady was hit by a drunk driver? drink driver? (not sure which one is right) down the road from us, they had the street closed off for about 3 hours. 2 broken legs facial injuries and her poor dog died.
-
oh I only just saw this - is it too late to join?
-
no no i still think you have time, welcome belfie!!
-
Hi everyone. Well I have had a terrible two days of bad eating and no exercise. But to be fair on myself I had a massive deadline due and worked from 8am Wed morning to 8am Thursday morning - straight through! Then I slept! But I have recovered now and I am more than ready to get started. My goal for the next 3 weeks is to walk 15,000 steps a day or 10,000 plus an activity like soccer. And to stay away from all fried food.
I just have to remember how awesome I feel when I am eating right and how much better my brain works.
-
aamy = I just saw your post - that poor lady - that is soo awful :(
-
Aamy that's terrible :( I hope she recovers quickly. Cutlets! Soooo jealous of you! I never buy them because they are just so expensive. Love them though! Headaches are basically sugar withdrawals. The way simple carbs are broken down make your body want another hit so detoxing from them has the headache, tired, grumpy effect. Onto day three now so almost at the hump (least so I am told).
Turkish - jealous of your DH, I have had many friends like that and it really doesn't aid the confidence when you are feeling down about trying to lose it. And yes, I enjoy food, most of the time. However there are days i could go without if it wasn't a necessity!
Scone - Woohoooo FABULOUS loss so far keep up the great work!
Ali sounds like you are doing great, you must be so impressed! Have fun with the Wii and wiifit when you get it!
Belfie! Great to see you here! Not too late to join, just less time until first weigh in (so to speak). Get your weight and bust-waist-hips measurements off to Trill ASAP. Then email your first losses on Tuesday! Good luck!!
Krysalyss Sounds like you have a great plan in place! Good luck! How do you find the pedometers? I always buy them and forget about them  So not useful to me though I have considered it time and time again trying again and again.
AFM I think the grumpy tanty chucking toddler is the hardest part because it is grating on my nerves and then i want to binge on bad food... but I havent. And i won't!
Looking forward to jumping on the exercise bike at home today. And oh how I am loving food at the moment. I think the hardest thing for me is that I don't normally eat, so for me to lose weight i have to start eating properly but once I eat breakfast I am hungry ALL day long... ten seconds after I eat! *sigh*
-
I have that problem too Cookie. Im lucky if i can get 2 meals in a day. Most of the time im just not hungry. Which is why those shake diet don't work for me cause they make me too bloody full!
I was good this morning, i did 30 situps and 10 pushups. Would love to use my wii fit, but DS1 kept using the Wii as a vending machine and it eventually broke!
-
DP is a butcher so we get free meat, love it! Congrats on staying stong cookie!
-
TD - my dad's like that, he always complains that when Mum goes on a diet he loses weight! I guess that's cause they cut out their 3-squares of chocolate per night habit ...
OK, I'm a little worried about my measurements, they were horrid! So that's motivation enough for me! I think I'll do shakes for breakfast & lunch, and healthy meals for tea. I have a pile of shakes here, may as well use them. If anyone's a Fernwood member, their shakes are the best I've tasted! I also add other food flavourings to the shakes, like orange with chocolate etc.
Aamy, what a horrid thing, I hope she'll recover soon and the evil drunk driver is thrown in gaol for a while. Poor thing losing her dog. Makes me want to arrange another (rescued) dog for her to love.
CM - well done!
Yesterday I could smell tomato at work, it made me feel like toast with sliced tomato with a little salt & pepper ... that's healthy, right?
-
I have had the worst 2 days!
Wednesday - Had Master Js speech path appointment then went and got stuff for dinner as well as doughnuts and a choc shake!!!
Thursday - Spent the day with mum shopping had Chinese for lunch and a bottle of Coke!
I think I might have a shake for breakfast (DF did the optislim shake diet and lost 10kgs in 12 weeks!) revert to my old eating habit of Chicken Noodle soup!!! I lost a heap of weight when I was living at home and ate that for dinner every day!
I hate my exercise Bike it gives me the sorest butt!
Here is to me eating healthy!
-
Here Here re bikes and sore butts. Give me a treadmill anyday hehe.
-
Well I have sent off my measurements and i have a long way to go to where i want to be so gotta get a wriggle on.
Dh is getting me a gym membership as we have a really good treadmill at home but i find it hard to be motivated with the treadmill alone. So i start that next week. For mothers day i am getting a new gym outfit too!! Woo hoo. DH said that when i lose my target 10kg he will buy me a new outfit, not that he doesn't usually let me buy clothes but this will be a special outfit and i wont need to worry about the price as long as i feel awesome in it! I love my DH.
For those of you in the know are the shake diets a good idea?? I was thinking that you may put on alo of weight once you stop using the shakes and start eating breakfast and lunch again. Does anyone know if this would be the case??
-
aamy - the poor lady - I hope she is ok
Well I'm just back from the gym and jogged 3km in 22.5min so was pretty proud of my second jog in almost a year and since giving birth. Then did some weights and abs and stretching. I've done some exercise every day this week so I'm feeling much fitter and haven't eaten any chocolate - woohoo!
I'm getting some new runners for mothers day so that should also be a good motivator.
-
Isabel - I know people who have had no problems coming off shakes but you have to be vigilant with calories and portion sizes. Maybe you could try PM Lucy? She did shakes for the first while and then went to calorie counting and it has worked for her, she might be able to give you some feedback? Just an idea.
Nai that sounds great! New runners are always Fab. Mine are a $20 pair from Target and do nothing for my feet but one of my minigoals is to prove I am committed enough before spoending any large amounts of money etc.
I am snacking on half and orange, half an apple and a kiwi fruit. Oh and 150gm of Gippsland Dairy Yogurt. I really don't like apples anymore, not sure why.
-
I hear ya on the sore butts - mine feels all bruised where the seat was, serves me right for taking so long to get back on it. I was mortified at my level of 'non' fitness, I struggled to do half an hour.
Well I made stroganoff last night, but instead of serving it with rice or pasta, I served it on a bed of green beans  I still ike it that way, DH was none too impressed - too bad for him.
Mmmm, Mexican . . all this talk about food when I am hungry, sheesh. I can't comprehend only wanting to eat out of necessity - food is delicious, if we weren't meant to enjoy it God wouldn't have made such yummy variety - we'd all just eat porridge or pellets. I don't have that problem though, my DH has always been chubbier than me (And is a BAAAD influence when I'm trying to diet!), but he can lose it a lot easier too, makes me cranky that he can do the same workout as me and burn so many more calories just because he is a man!
-
Aamy - that poor old woman. I hope that person who hit her gets what he/she deserves. And to lose a dog? OMG, i would be devastated if one of my two dogs were killed. Hope she recovers soon though.
Antheia / CM - how can you guys not be hungry all day? Yes, there are days when i just don't have to time to eat, but never coz i'm not hungry. Geez, i wish i could be never hungry. It would do me a lot of good.
MelanieKate - I hate the bike too, just because it gives me a sore bum. I tell the personal trainer at the gym not to include the bike in my program. My bum slips off the seat constantly. i guess that tells you how big my bum is!
Don't you regret eating the bad food later on? It's great at the time of eating it but later i regret it majorly. Now i think about how long i need to jog for on the treadmill to burn off the calories of what bad food i am contemplating on eating.
IsabelB - good luck with going to the gym. I think the gym is more motivating as you have to go somewhere to exercise. If it sits at home its more like "yeah later" and you never get to do it. My DH makes me go on the days when i don't feel like going. He is great. Re: the gym outfit - go girl, how exciting. I can't wait to by a crop top and wear that to the gym. Don't know how DH will feel about that though! Just 6 kgs, i keep reminding myself. If i've lost 15kgs, i can lose the 6kg too.
Nai - woohoo on the workout. Just think that you have to jog for about 9 minutes to burn the 99calories in a small piece of choc. All that pain for 15 seconds of pleasure. Not worth it. New runners are awesome.
CM - keep up the healthy eating!
Sas - my DH is a bad influence too. He eats all the bad stuff in front of me leaving me salivating over it.
-
TD normally I dont eat because Im too lazy! So when I am eating properly, like now, I am hungry all day and it drives me nuts! If I don't eat until say 2 in the afternoon thats less time for me to be hungry so I just used to avoid eating!
-
I have no idea why im never hungry. The only time i am is when im pregnant. The only reason i need to loose weight is cause i gained so much in my pregnancy with DD. Haven't gained anymore since then, just havnt been able to lose it.
-
-
I used to find the same thing when I was younger and very desperate to be thin (I was a fat kid, Faat teenager and have to really work HARD to get to and stay a 10-12) so I used to not eat breakfast and then have an apple and a diet coke for lunch, and half my dinner (Terrible I know, it let to a disorder, I'm over it now) But I didn't get very hungry then either. It's because your metabolism is through the floor cause not starting the engine with fuel, so when you eat brekky for instance, your metabolism speeds up which makes you feel hungrier, is actually a good sign because means your body is burning.
-
well at least the driver stopped, so many seem to take off down here. twice the limit!
OK, well alcohol's going to be hard for me, I usually have a glass with tea each night *sighs* Found the pate in the fridge, guessing its better to finish it than to leave temptation there, IYKWIM?
Re the gym - I don't get motivated enough to get out of the house to get to the gym! So I give it a miss more often than not. Which is why I'm thinking the WII.
-
Aarrggh! So much posting - can't keep up, lol!
So, I am having sugar-withdrawal headaches... I've worked out that's what it is, cause I've been drinking heaps of water today.
Also, have been discovering the 'joys' of trying to exercise with a 3 month old! Went for a walk with DS in the pram this morning - got about half way and DS started crying. I think he had some wind that just wouldn't come up (or down). I ended up having to walk back home with DS in one arm, pushing the pram with the other! Ah well - that can count as an upper body workout too!
-
Sterla, there is a book out there (cant remember the name sorry) that shows you yoga techniques to use with a baby. Maybe try looking for something like that?
