It's not too late to join, is it?
I'd love some motivation and support and all that jazz. I know I can do it, I just need a little push along the way.
Also I feel like I need to step out of the shadows here on the forum and feel like I'm part of something instead of being the shy chick in the corner and not wanting to say something wrong or feel invisible. Phew, that felt good to get out.
I'm still deciding whether I wanna add my starting weight and that. I know I should but give me a few days, okay?
I'm also trying work out my goal weight. Can we do like a mini goal weight, then change it along the way? I don't want to get too far ahead of myself and feel like I can't make it. (I work better with little milestones, I think)
Sorry about the rambling. I hope you're having a fabulous day!
If anyone has an iPhone?
Go Meals is associated with Calorie King and is helpful for knowing what is what i.e carb, fat, protein intake.
Also I use iMapMyRun so I can calculate how far I walk of a day, I use it to motivate me to beat my times each day and increase the distance travelled.
I also use another app called TargetWeight to record my weight.
Traveller - its important that you have recognised that - all the more power to ya! :)!
ZF - I used calorie king ;).
Ok- exercise was fabulous, big tick :) 3k run, 1k row, 12k cycle and 5 weights circuit (4x15 reps of each)
Food, big thumbs down :( DD didn't like her lunch so i ended up eating two bowls of pasta (i made double for her dinner as well), on top of my well intended velish pumpkin soup, and then i added in 2 slices of pana di cassa bread with butter... How can i salvage this? I was thinking of having a tuna salad (tuna, lettuce, corn, tomato, cucumber) for dinner instead of the family dinner. I am breastfeeding, so i am giving myself 500 additional calories, but i think all this pasta was a bit over the top!
well done on the exercise :D After a lunch like that, I would generally not eat the family dinner and have a bowl of soup or a salad instead.
Ok ladies i had 2 feral teething kids and it was nice outside so i did the dishes, 2 loads of washing, mopped the floor then drove to the closest town (could walk IF there was a footpath and it wasn't 100k country road) and took the girls for a walk.. according to runkeeper i walked 1.72km in 30min (was a little less but i wrote 30, and we stopped a couple of times).. that was pushing 2 kids in a pram when i haven't walked 'properly' in years.
I :heartbeat: walking and i've missed it but man it hurt, also didn't realise how steep the hills were in that little town with 2 main roads so some of my travels were on gravel.. pmsl.
Girls enjoyed themselves and i got out and about, might have to do it more often.
Kate - did you want to go for a walk wed or thurs morning? says light showers wed or top of 19 thurs.. my appt isn't til 12 in romsey so i could go for an earlyish walk about 9 - 9:30 on thurs!
I went for a walk too. I managed 0.8km before it started bucketing down rain. Since i'm still not 100% over my bronchitis, i got DH to come get me so i didn't end up with pneumonia or something. Never realised how stuffed my back is. My pelvis must really be out of alinment. Time to see the Chiro i think. The walk itself was ok though. Not as unfit as i thought i was.
I was hoping to go to the gym tonight, it will depend whether I get DHs CV done beforehand as to whether I will have time. If the weather is nice we might all go out for a walk after dinner.
At least when I start the new job I will have a walking buddy for lunchtimes, so that should be good.
Traveller hun can you check out my food diary for yesterday.. i think i did well.. i wasn't trying or anything either, maybe i should show DP this.. he thinks i sit at home and eat all day.. IF i am eating like this and still gainging or staying the same what the hell is wrong with me.
Today is MG, i WILL reists the choccy biscuits and soft drink or juice and stick with water, crackers and fruit... :)
Had fruit and half a slice of toast this morning... also started having mint green tea with breakfast.
Hey ZF! You stll have to update my details on the front page ;) Hehe thanks hun
I can't see your diary Z, you need to go into settings and make sure you have it set so that friends can see it :D
Wow, i did a 2.18km walk this arvo. Didn't realise there was a massive hill at the end either. I almost died lol...almost! I'm still alive and feel pretty good at my achievement! :-)
Did the grocery shopping today and bought all healthy foods. Can't wait to start cooking with the recipes i've found.
I made it to the gym last night and the plan is to go on the way to work tomorrow.
Also managed to make dessert for DS last night without eating any myself
I am getting used to eating my dinner without rice. Extra veggies and meat seem to make up for it. Beef stew tonight mmmmm
However my online food diary seems to be broken :( I hope it comes back soon, years of overeating mean I am unable to calculate a normal days diet without someone telling me if I am eating too much or not enough.
Haven't posted in here yet, just the FB page one. But I wanted to say, do something nice for yourself.
Last week I put fake tan on my legs and painted my toenails bright red. And I felt great!!!!!! I haven't painted my nails since before DD was born, and fake tan? Forget it. But I found a bottle in the bathroom cupboard, it hadn't expired, so yay for my fake tanned legs!
Yesterday I didn't have a great food day, but I think I was just feeling a bit blah, so yeah. No excuse, but at least I can recognise it. My meals were okay, just too many bad snacks. Tonight we're having cannelloni for dinner, spinach and ricotta and I even grew the spinach myself :)
Antheia, do you have any recipes to share? Would love some inspiration :)
Traveller I am impressed you are doing it so tough and even giving ip rice! Wow...
I had another good exercise day, I did the zumba class and added on an extra 3k ride, weights and 1k cooldown run. I also put up and down a two room tent and took DD and DS on a 2k walk. Eating was TERRIBLE though
I couldn't give up rice so have got brown rice instead of white. Also changed to multigrain pastas and wholemeal bread and soy and linseed bread which is a fav of mine.
I'm still struggling to drink water *sigh* Kinda makes me nausous when i drink it.
I have already mapped out my walk for tomorrow. It's 3.5km, eek! Hope i can make it.
appletree, i use the taste dot com dot au website for my recipes. Theres soooo much yummy stuff on there. Just search your fav foods and it comes up with heaps.
I love the taste website, i usually do a search for diabetes friendly recipes to make sure they are going to be low fat/carbs etc and they are always delicious! Two i tried recently were the balsamic beef with kumera mash and the maple paprika chicken escalopes with pear and baby spinach yumm yumm! Good luck with your 3.5k walk, you can do it! As for water, i recently bought a brita water filter jug and just leave it on the bench with a large cup. I used to hate water unless it was really really cold, but now i just have it as is and don't seem to mind. Otherwise, how about you fill up a water bottle 1/3 of the way and freeze it overnight so you have a nice big icecube, you can refill the water bottle a couple of times before the ice melts.
Off to the gym again this morning. I might keep it simple this morning and do a 6k elliptical trainer and read my book, i don't have much time today as i am meeting a friend to go to the babes in arms session :)
Keep up the great work everyone....
Yesterday at MG i stuck with water and the nice healthy foods, then they had cake for 1 of the little girls but the mum is VERY sugar conscious so the icing was cream cheese & honey :) so i had a TINY piece.. normally i would have had a normal sized slice and then some.
We walked around the shopping centre for over an hour and half of that was pushing the trolley and carrying DD2 at the same time.
Today am off for a walk with Kate... woo hoo.
I was naughty and jumped on the scaled before... 101.3 :o
I can't have lost 2kg in a couple of days.... wont be adjusting my ticker... lol will wait til official weigh in MONDAY and see what happens...
DD1 thinks it's fun standing on the scales and she looks down and goes YAY ... pmsl.
Have sent some PM's re: goals etc.. please everyone check i have your details correct.
CharlieBrownGirl - i wasn't 100% on your starting weight.. can you please confirm if you want us to list it.
I too have had a sneaky peek on the scales, but will hold off for the official weigh in on Monday
I am going to a Halloween party on Saturday and am dressing as a fairy princess. I have the wings, the glitter and the wand. So I tried on the dress at the weekend and it fits well - my wedding dress! I am so pleased I can get back into it and breathe :D
I have been resisting the urge to have a sneak peek at the scales. Otherwise i will become obsessed and weigh every day.
I'm going to check out my local gym today and see how much their membership costs. It's open 24 hours a day too which is handy.
Well my scales said I haven't changed at all grrrr
Didn't make it to the gym, DS was up overnight so 2-5am was not enough sleep for gym + work
Hopefully I can go tonight instead
LOL, you're all braver than me. I hate the scales. They're in DD's bathroom so I can avoid climbing on while my shower is heating up in my ensuite!!!
I'm feeling okay today, sore throat has been fobbed off so hoping the rain holds off so I can walk this afternoon. I'm out for lunch today so rain rain go away, come again TONIGHT WHEN WE ARE SLEEEEEEPING!!!!!
Have a good day everyone!
Ok so i went for a walk with the beautiful Kate and her DD this morning and MAN am i unfit, got half way up a hill and was like DAMN DAMN DAMN i'm unfit... BUT we stopped, had a sip of water and kept going.
We stopped a couple of times along the way for water, to look at flowers and to do things with the kids.. we also stopped and played at the park for 15-20min and for Z's tempter tantrum cos she was sooo over tired.
BUT it took roughly 1.5hrs or about 1hr 10min walking and according to run keeper we walked about 5km :o wow... imagine what we can do when we have some fitness up.... oooohhh oooohhhh ooooohhhh
 Well done ZF!!
I went for an hour walk yesterday and was pretty pleased with myself. Then I got home and ate a piece of cake ... and halfway through realised...:o...DAMN!!! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE ON A DIET!! AHHHHHHH ....so I through away the second half of the cake piece and went for another hour walk (and got sunburnt) :wall: Why. AM. I. SO. DUMB.?? Gahh :wall:
Haha, vent over.
 hun.. your not dumb and i am refusing to use the word DIET.. this for me is a lifestyle change and you know what in LIFE there are things your allowed to enjoy every now and then... like.... CAKE.
I have some of A's birthday cake frozen and i plan on once a week having a little bit with a tiny bit of ice cream, i mean whats the point in living if you can't enjoy the good things in it... it's all about moderation!
So think of it this way... TODAY i had a piece of cake.. tomorrow i will drink more water and eat more fruit... next week i can have another slice of cake.
You are right, ZF! It is a change of lifestyle, not a diet (I think I just say diet, because it's shorter than saying 'permanent lifestyle change'. Maybe we should call it PLC instead! Tehehe )
But I was so angry at myself, not because I ate cake, but because I didn't even realise I MADE the cake, then ATE it all without paying attention or making a conscious decision! I'm not that worried about eating *naughty* foods, as long as I made a conscious decision to ENJOY a piece of cake -not just shove it blindly into my mouth without realising! What else do I eat/drink without even noticing? Scary. Note to self: Pay attention to what you eat.
Thanks for your support
I'm off for another walk (me lurves walkin!!) But this time I'll use some sunscreen.
Good work hun... maybe put a note on the fridge or the cake container.... "do i NEED to eat this now" ???
You know what Raupe? I think you've hit the nail on the head. How many times have I walked past the drawer where we keep chocolate and just put my hand in and before I know it, I've consumed it without realising it or enjoying it and then going back for more and the vicious circle continues. I stopped buying chocolate for that reason.
We limit our choc now to one night a week - we weren't having any quality husband and wife time, so we have "Saturday Night In" where we get a bag of chips, a bag of mnms and a movie and we just enjoy being together. Somehow, that way of thinking has spread into the chocolate wants most of the time during the week, so I'm not actually looking for it anymore.
Well done on the walk today ladies. I'm not going to get one in. Just got home, waiting for DH to get home in about 15 or so and then we're going out again. Maybe tonight, if the rain stays away, but def tomorrow!!!!
ETA - ZF - What is runkeeper? Is it something to figure out how far you've actually walked??
One of the biggest challenges for me was taking note of what I was eating and when. This is the main reason an online food diary worked, but writing it all down in a book will work just as well. It helps to switch your mind over from "eating without thinking" to "I have to write this down and own the decision...do I still want it?"
Hehe, PacRacMG, you should come to sunny SA!! I can't get rid off the stupid sun (sorry, my sunburn hurts still).
ZF: Will do! We currently have before- and after- pics on our fridge (from when we lost 10 kg), which is a motivator to stay strong. We don't have cakes or sweets in the house, so we are never tempted. Unfortunately I developed a special talent for whipping up delicious cakes-for-one, whenever I had a craving. So I have to put my "note-to-self" note on our flour, sugar etc  maybe that'll stop me!
You know, I think I figured out why I love walking so much! Because I try to do something else other than working on my stupid Uni assignments! I'm the WORST procrastinator in the world, so whenever an assignment is due I cook, clean, do the laundry, go for walks, browse BB :hide:, really ANYTHING apart from the work I SHOULD be doing
It's that bad that everytime DP comes home and the house is sparkling he asks: "Is there an assignment due, by any change?" caught!
Forgot to add:
There was a "Procrastinators unite" thread, but I kept putting off posting in there   I am THAT bad!
True story!
I had scrummy pepperoni pizza for dinner, and not only managed to limit the cheese I put on, but I was able to stop after 2 slices. I know it is still a bad meal, but it was so scrummy and I am really pleased I was able to restrain myself portion wise.
Well i did a walk earlier this arvo but only did 0.92km as it started raining again. Typical! But I just did another walk tonight because it has cleared up and i did 2.92km! Making my daily total 3.84km! Feeling pretty good about that actually.
I'm going to join the gym next Tuesday when i get paid so will be able to increase my exercise then.
ETA: It's 1:15am and i can't sleep. So i decided to make tomorrow's lunch. I have a home made pie baking in the oven. It's my first attempt and it looks pretty good if i do say so myself. I bought the best looking mince for it, couldn't see any fat in it at all and its got carrot in there as well plus the pastry is even fat reduced and salt reduced. So it's a pretty healthy pie. Will let you know tomorrow if it tastes any good and i'll share the recipe.
Traveller - well done on the 2 pieces, i love pizza and it is something i wont be giving up.. home made pizza with a little less cheese and a lot more veg :)...
Last night i decided just for RAUPE it was going to be my cake & Ice cream night, i had half the slice i normally would and half the ice cream i normally would... it was beautiful and i savored every minute..
Ok ladies how do i work out how many calories are in my food, Traveller i want to enter in some 'new' foods of my own to the diary but don't know how many calories, how do i work it out?
Whats on the agenda today ladies?
For me girls have MCHN appt and FIL is tagging along so we will go to the park afterwards, last time we had F&C's at the park but this time i might make some cheese & veg sandwiches and takes some fruit.
