no walking for me today! It's raining!
Rhianon, seems to be clearing up now! I hope so because I want to go for another 1.5hour walk like yesterday! :D
Girls - don't let the rain deter you!!
I was hesitant about going out in the rain too but it ended up being the best walk/jog I have had. You can push yourself HARDER because the rain keeps you cool.
CombatQueen ran me through my program last night, I've just eaten my lite'n'easy breakfast (muesli + toast with marmalade), now I'm off to work with my morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea (all lite'n'easy)
the only reason i didn't want to walk in the rain, coz i have jensen with me and i don't have a rain cover. If it does stop raining we'll go out to the corner shop, coz we need milk.
I've stepped up my weight training and oh boy do I feel sore today. I've also ordered in a Wii fit so I can't wait til that comes in. I really want to get out and do some walking, but I only have a single pram and DD1 just can't keep out for the level of walk I want to be doing. What kind of cardio exercise can I do at home?
Captain - skipping is hard work but great cardio and you dont have to do it for too long to get your heart rate up, a bit hard on the knees though
just realsied I entered lucy's email wrong with my measurements  oh well Ill send through next weeks to the right address
Rhianon, yes I don't have a rain cover either  it is not raining now though but so humid out there. will walk later when it is cooler
Captain - why don't you try looking up some aerobics (or similar) videos on youtube?
Head to your local library and grab some exercise dvds/videos there. They are free and you can try a few different brands/styles to see what you like. I like crunch pilates dvd.
It stopped raining just before nine, so got in a 30 min walk. omg the sweat poured off me, and I know it wasn't the exersize (shame tho!) Least I can say I got in my 30 mins!
WW ladies! I'm craving sweets! I want to make something, rather than buy it! What can I make!?!? I love chocolate, and I thought about the peanut butter slice, but I don't have all the right ingredients!
Peanut butter slice - makes 24 serves. Each serve = 4points
1 1/3 cup plain white flour
1/3 cup plain wholemeal flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup reduced-fat peanut butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup caster sugar
2/3 cup reduced-fat butter spread
2 whole whole egg
1 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 cup skim milk
3/4 cup icing sugar
* Preheat oven to 170C. Line a 22cmx 30cm slice tin with non-stick baking paper and set aside.
* Combine flour, wholemeal flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a medium size bowl. Add oats, toss and set aside.
* Combine 3/4 cup peanut butter, brown sugar, caster sugar and 1/2 cup butter in a large bowl. Beater using electric beaters until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla and beat for a further minute.
* Add half flour mixture to peanut butter mixture, then half milk, beating until just incorporated. Repeat with remaining flour mixture and milk, until well combined. Spread mixture into prepared tin and bake for approx 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of slice comes out clean. Transfer to a rack.
* Meanwhile, to make icing: combine remaining peanut butter and butter in a medium size microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high until butter is melted, about 30 seconds. Whisk until smooth. Add icing sugar and 1 tbs water and whisk again until smooth. Immediately spread icing evenly over slice. Set aside to set. Cut into 24 squares.
I only have ordinary flour, and no skim milk (only whole milk), and I'm probably almost out of peanut butter.... Do you think if I cut it smaller, it's worth less points smaller slice?
OOOOHHHHH you've made me want something sweet now..that sounds really yummy. I definately don't have the right ingredients. But like you I have to start to make my own treats so much better for the kids and us.
Punkin, you are doing great I did lite an easy after I had Sophie as a kick start to lossing weight again, I had lost about8 kgs and came to a halt, it was great, so easy lol, very nice not having to cook.
Go girls you are all really focused< i have to get out tonight and do a walk.
Queenbee, 20cms if a fantastic effort...it must be really hekping keep you motivated. I can't remember who has lost 22cm but again a fantastic effort, congrats.
Thanks Pam, feeling awesome. WW weigh in is tomorrow so hopefully I have lost some more.
Rhianon, if you want something sweet, freddo frogs (not filled ones) are only 1.5 points!
I had a kickboxing session today, and man it felt awesome, of all 3 of the different sessions I do over the week, it would definatly be my most favourite.
I had a pretty good day today- I went to the shops and really really wanted a muffin break muffin (they have lamington ones for Aus day and Lammingtons are my fav) so I bought one, has a bit less than half, felt satisified that I had had a taste, and I threw the rest in the bin, that for me is a big step because often I would have eaten the whole thing whether I wanted it or not.
Determined to have a good weekend, get some walking done and eat well.
I hope everyone manages to fac and over come any eating/excercise challenges thrown at them over the long weekend.
hi ladies
finally got my wii and wii fit! Its so much fun! I cant wait for the Jillian Michaels game to come out... gotta go and play some more!
Just had to come in and have a little brag
DH came home yesterday and when i asked him if he could see i'd lost weight he said "i think so" well anyway after losing just over 5% of my total body weight since starting this challenge i went from feeling fantastic to a bit down- thanks DH :wall: Anyway one of DH's friends who i havent seen since NYE came over this Mo and made a huge fuss saying how fantastic i looked and asked me what had happened to all my flab lol. It was just what i needed to hear  He is the first person (outside my immediate family and friends who all know about the challenge) to really notice the change.
Well i have still eaten really well for the last 2 days though havent done much exercise and i have to admit i miss it. I am finding if i dont do anything then i am feeling really bler and lazy. Its like i need to do it to feel good.
I am working tonight and 2mo and i know take away is on the agenda for dinner at work so it looks like i might have to take in something as an alternative in case they get something really bad iykwim. It also means that 2mo will be hard to find time to exercise but i will try and go for a walk when i finish.
Had a little bit of a scare this morning with my twin sister calling me to tell me she had been admitted to hosp. SHe is 30wks pg and had hemorrhaged through the night. They were still trying to stop the bleeding as although it had slowed was still a worry and she cant get a scan til this arvo as they were having to call someone in to do it as its a Saturday. For now bubs seems ok but i can hear how worried she is in her voice. It made eating a decent breaky really hard but i did ok. I am the biggest emotional eater so for me it was a challenge.
I hope you all have an awesome long and healthy weekend.
Only lost 0.4kgs on WW this week  feeling crap. I know a loss is a loss BUT I think I am walking too much, around 7hours per week, perhaps I am gaining muscle! Ah well, will be a better week this week. Thing is, I am eating super healthy :)
Hoody, well done! I am so proud of you xx I hope your sister is ok, let us know if all well ok?
Kellie - the wii fit is lots of fun! I like the yoga and the stepping and boxing.
Hoody - well done! I also hope your sis and bub are ok.
Queenbee - a loss is a loss, keep it up!
I'm stuffed now after a few hours in the garden, raking, weeding, sweeping so that's my official exercise for today. Going for a run tomorrow morning. Have been eating a bit crap the last couple of days, had thai takeaway for dinner last night. Found some low fat icecreams called Skinny Cow - anyone had them and are they really that good? Apparently they are only 80 calories.
Hi ladies
I'm still around, LOL! Just been busy...
Well I'm doing ok with eating, not great, but not really bad. Exercise is only incidental stuff at the moment, I have just been trying to do active things, like I went out and scrubbed the verandah again with the broom, and doing the vacuming and mopping inside. I'm not actually purposefully exercising, but my house is clean!!! I also swam for a while with DD in mums pool, though not actually swimming really just throwing her around in the water and paddling with her.
I would like to lose another kg by next Wed, or probably Saturday, cause I'm going to a wedding next weekend and we fly to Adelaide on Wed for it. I so excited! I had wanted to be down to 80kg's by then, but thats 2.7kgs to lose and I think that's jsut not feasable in a week. It would have been ok if I hadn't stuffed myself so much this past week :(.
I'm finding it really tough to exercise in this horrible heat we're having in Sydney and I don't want to take my bubs out in it either. The heat and I are really not good friends! I get dizzy and light headed in heat like this. It was 41degrees here today, 38 yesterday. Waaaayyy too hot for my kidlets to go out for a walk. Even my ac was struggling to cool the place down today!
Laranna, I have had the chocolate skinny cow icecreams. They're ok, good enough if you want a choccy hit without the fat, but they do taste low fat, kwim?? I think WW icecreams are better.
Kel, try the Peters Low Fat Ice Cream, 1.5points for a scoop! Doesn't taste fat free I don't think and the WW ice cream is so expensive for 3 little tubs! Expensive way of buying them!
queenbee the ww are expensive but I eat it and dont go back for more, if I had a scoop I would have another and another lol. my favourite is the ww cookies and cream yum only 1.5 points
I tried the skinny cow icecreams last night and they were ok, good enough for my icecream fix I think. Queenbee, I've tried going just one scoop from tub but I can't stop! lol....it's safer for me to have the individual ones :)
Just finished week 2 of the couch to 5k this morning and I am totally stuffed. I hope I shed some kg's this week, even though the cm's have been dropping the weight has been going up. But then again it might be that it looks like AF is returning for me again.
Sara and Laranna, I never feel tempted to go back for more. Have my little bowl (tiny one), put a scoop in and don't open the freezer again! The WW ones are very yummy though I must admit, especially caramal swirl. Mmmmmmm xx
Hi everyone. Dont seem to have much time to drop in lately. Am going ok with my food but pretty happy with my exercise as still sticking to the plan - at the moment it is ride to work 2xwk, indoor soccer 1xwk, and job 1xwk. I am not shifting too much weight at the moment though. Clothes feel a bit looser but when I took photos and compared to last month I look fatter. Hmmm. Not very motivating. Also I am just not confident I am taking measurements accurately so find it hard to compare. Oh well, just keep on keeping on as they say. Glad to hear everyone is going well and staying motivated!
I had an oh my goodness moment this morning- I must be getting fitter. I went for a walk- we go to the local farmers markets on a sunday morning, so I told DH I would walk down and he could drive down with the kids and meet me- I told him to give me 45 mins, anyway I was near where I needed to be in 20 mins, so did a huge loop around the block, and then a smaller block as well, it felt like I walked for miles. After we had finished at the markets we drove home the route I had walked to see how many Km's I had walked, it was 4 kms in 45 mins. I was so proud of myself.
Got heaps of yummy (and very cheap) fruit and veggies at the markets, so there will be lots of nice, salads and things this week- I am really hoping that my kgs lost will catch up with my cm's lost soon. DH is noticing I am shrinking, he told me my boobs had shrunk (which they have by about 6cms). Men hey!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend, I am off to talk my ironing mountain.
Hi girls,
Hoody I hope your sister and her baby are okay!!! One of the girls in the older womans group had her baby at 30 weeks just recently and the baby girl is doing well. Fingers crossed that it does'nt come to that though.
Well I went out and did 1hour 30 mins hours of carting wood, I had to have lots of rest stops though but I feel really good now. Tomorrow I am going to have a cooked brekky, but then they do a heart walk afterwards, so will be pushing the 2 youngest in the pram and DS 4 will ride his scooter, DH has to do a job, only chance apparently??? but he will met us at the swimming pool later.
Queenbee you would think with the amount of excerise you are doing that you would be gaining muscles.
Laranna, lilias that's the kind of excerise I like....the stuff that gets things done and home and sport type things. I find the gym a bit depressing especially when the jobs at home have'nt got done.
Ice-cream!!!!!! I have trouble when I buy the tub, nearly ate the lot over 3 days:wall: Yikes...Not sure what my weight loss will be like this week????
Girls, just in relation to the ice cream........and please please don't think I am ****ing on your parade.........but do bear in mind that if they contain flavourings 950 or 951 they are likely to be doing you more harm than good regardless of fat or calorie content...........
What do they do Lucy? I try not to eat artificial sweeteners besides the fact I don't really like that taste, it's really not healthy! And I have read stuff about it messing with your metabolism or something like that cause your body has cravings for sweets but doesn't get the real thing...something along those lines.
Lucy, ah interesting stuff. I have one scoop from my tub every few days. I might google 950 and 951!
Hoody - I hope your sister and your niece/nephew are ok!
Laranna - I've had the skinny cow icecreams too... they are only 1.5 points on WW. We dont have boxing on the wii fit yet, I must need to do more to unlock it
Lucy - I'm also curious as to what they do....
just checked my ice cream. no artificial sweetener 950 or 951 in mine
been bad but happy - had a lovely weekend with my SIL - ate well and lots and fun stuff.
you know why I am ok with being "bad"? because I know that this challenge is part of a LIFESTYLE change.
I think I am starting to be healed of my crazy up-down yoyo dieting thing
Just checked my trusty additive book:
950 - Caused cancer and tumours in animal tests
952 (Asmartime) - Linked to many health problems including asthma nausea depressions, hyperactivity and seizures.
Makes you think twice about what you eat!
Rory, I agree, it's a whole lifestyle change. I always end up binging if I deprive myself, so good food in small amounts works for me.
Aurora, that's a great attitude!
I came on here to admit to a bad, bad, bad day...., DH is home and is sabotaging me again! I have to change that...I have done no exercise, eaten lots of not good for me foods....:( back to it tomorrow though!!
i agree with you girls. it is a lifestyle change, not about quick fixes! if it takes me a whole year to lose another 8 kilos, so be it! i really don't care anymore. i am on a good path anyway. going to a BBQ tomorrow with our friends. hmmm....it is going to be hard  because i am going to drink some wine.
Just checked my icecreams and they have 951 - ick! Won't be buying them again!
What are your favourite home made healthy desserts?
How do you get past your cravings? I am struggling with sugar cravings, particularly soft drinks at this stage. It is easiest if I don't have them in the house.
i am addicted to lolly snakes. 4 of them is 1 point. seriously, i have to buy them every week, i am a shocker!!!
i am so craving sweet at the moment, AF is due!
I've been having a shocker. AF turned up on thursday afternoon, thankfully she's now visiting someone else, but I've felt really blah all weekend. I didn't even bother walking, woke up late yesterday, with a headache and generally feeling yuk yesterday, did what shopping I had to and nothing else.
I did get on the wii-fit last night and kept getting messages - your weight has changed since last time do you still want to do this or do that - well der - that's why i'm here. But I did almost an hour of different things and was a sweat ball by the time i'd finished. Back up this morning (not quite my usual time) but better then yesterday, off for my walk, I added another couple of blocks in this morning and I feel really good now. So hopefully, the blah has gone and i'm back to normal.
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY EVERYONE Remember to enjoy yourselves, but don't go overboard.
Queenbee - enjoy your barbie.
even the killer pythons??? :D:
i am addicted to lolly snakes. 4 of them is 1 point
might have to get me some - I occasionally want a sweetie, though my downfall is salty things....
PMSL Rory!
I've been good-ish all week! Eating sandwiches for lunch (tuna/lettuce/tomato kinda stuff).
I'm also exercising. I can FEEL healthier! Can't wait for Tuesday night basketball...that's going to be the real test!
Hope you're all going well!
