belfie - today have not done any exercise yet, but am going to meet a prospective employer this avo so will walk there (as is truly glorious day) and then do my intervals this later on today. but feeling *totally* energised compared to yesterday (was just exhausted mentally from whanau being here and also starting again on trying to get bub to not breastfeed through the night - involves a lot of sitting with him waiting and willing him to go to sleep...) as bub slept from 10.30pm to 5am (as did i!) so totally stoked. hoping that this is the beginning of not being sleep deprived! i don't think i've had a full night's sleep since he was born... almost 2 years ago... :D so very excited at the prospect of having a baby who sleeps!
mildez - i haven't looked at leesa's vid, but am sure that would tell you what to do. essentially is like holding a press up position, either with your arms straight or with your elbows directly below your shoulders on the ground and your knuckles together (like as if you were on a racing bike). main thing is to make sure your bum and hips are in line with the rest of your body (from the top of your head to your heels) to resemble a plank, not too high or too low. also a pilates trick is to imagine that your navel (and below down to your pubic bone) is being buttoned up like in really tight jeans - suck it in! that works your abs/obliques so not just the 6pack down the front bulking out but working the ones that act as a girde and wrap around your body. pilates is about toning and strengthening not loosing weight or building muscles up like a rugby player or body builder!
starbright - i think there is such a difference in how i look compared to how much i weigh now because i'm working out lol. i used to eat whatever and just stay slim, but had generous hips/bum/thighs always. i think i still need to loose the weight as am still pretty heavy for me, but am trimmer because of pilates (lengthens and strengthens) and intervals (aerobic and anaerobic parts). i still think i could do to loose the weight i still have on my hips/bum/thighs but am getting really close to one of my ultimate goals already - fitting my size11 jeans! have a pair of size10s from pre preg too but never thought that possible! so that might end up being my goal!
AFM - i went shopping today! yay found a pair of ashley fogel skinny jeans at the sallies, and they're size14 so am going to have them taken in for me (OMG! who would have thought *that* would happen! not me, that's for sure!). $220 jeans bought for $15 and they'll be another $15 to have them tailored to fit so $30 for $220 jeans! and they look *gorgeous*! i've never ever been able to wear skinnys before as i've always just looked like a lollipop - long legs, but big bum/hips/thighs at the top! yeyah!
lol mildez - i think you and i must be pretty similar shapes :) long and slim, but with "childbearing" hips in the middle ;)
Thanks for the welcome everyone :)
You're all doing so well - very inspirational.
I've lost 900g since I last posted and I'm pretty stoked because I thought I was having a bad week. You all must be good luck!
belfie - just wanted to say that i did everything and more that i intended to do! :D
- intervals
- press ups
- dips
- planks
and then went out dancing! :P
am planning on doing a similar workout tonight, is the best time to do it i think - just before bed then can hop in the shower and go to sleep smug lol! ;)
i do need to do a weigh in though... tomorrow i think. am a bit worried as diet has gone a bit out the window as i said in recent posts... nervous am going to see something i'd rather not...
Woo hoo livvy, that's great!
Well i've done nothing today plus eaten more naughties than usual (too much socializing!) so I'm gunning for 500 cal on the bike tonight. Gunna gunna gunna do it!! & DH has just started again, weighed himself this morning... I have fingers crossed he'll work it out this time!! No more excuses & his key motivation word is discipline.
Me again... did my cycle, 67mins yeeha.
And now I feel silly saying it.... but...
I'm changing my goal.
Both DH & I agree I don't need to lose much more, but 1kg more than my original goal wouldn't hurt, and honestly my tummy needs all the help it can get. And while I was going to have "birthday month" then revisit... I just wanna be done. I don't want to get out of loss mode just to have to get back into it. And I'm on a roll now, so really it's only another two weeks if I continue as i am. And while I have to get through DH's birthday (easy, given my ILs are away)... then final weigh-in date (17/9) is my DD's 1st b'day which ironically always my original goal (just my goal is now 3kg less than the very first goal I set). So um yeah  I promise that's it though, I don't want to go below this new goal.
Hey all... I am disapointed :(
No loss at all.. still 81.5!!!!! GGGRRRRRRR!!!! I think maybe eating more hasnt helped!! I just dont know!! I think maybe i need to rememeber that my meds effect my appetite and that maybe even though my tummy says I am hungry, I really dont need the food (taking steroids). Oh I dont know!!! Its quite unmotivating!!! And I REALLY want to get out of the 80's!!!! I am so friggin closE!!!!!! And as much as I want to do more excercise.. I really cant seem to find enough hours in the day to do it AND be a good mummy/house wife!!! Sorry having a real downer of a day today :(!!!
Belfie, YOU go for it babe.. do what feels right for you!! YOur goal was to look hot and enjoy yourself for the Birhdays and I think thats already gonna happen for you!!!! :-)
phew! no loss, but no gain :D have clambered back on to the wagon diet wise and been really good today. also helped that in a moment of weakness when i went to get a piece of ginger crunch i discovered that it was all gone lol so that was good. was still disappointed though! but yay, no temptation = no lardy arse right?
last night did intervals, sit ups and lotus arms. so all good. but rather tired tonight, so not sure how much i'll manage tonight. motivation is all i need! :D
Some of us are having a good week aren't we? Well weekend maybe. I gained a kilo. How disappointing. Livvy thats good to hear all the ginger stuff is gone. Helps stop temptation when there is none there.
Just thought I would thank Ladybird11 for her utube link ages ago on the push ups. When I first started doing them over a month ago (after watching you do it) I did 24 yesterday. Maybe thats pretty pathetic but when I started I could only do 3 so yeah me. Now to attemp to learn how to do a sit up. YesterdaY I tried that also (practicing for my fitness test) and I couldn't do a single one without cheating. I couldn't even get half way up. Talk about sad lol but there is only room for improvement.
Hellloooo everyone!!!!
We are back :) After a whirlwind week and a half in Sydney visiting friends and family, we are back home. As lovely as it was to be with family and friends and to be celebrating and having fun, it's always so lovely to come home!
Well, I didn't do too badly for the last few weeks. I'm a little disappointed that I did put weight on, but it was just sssoooo hard to keep eating well. The exercise part was pretty easy, I was walking everywhere and carrying my kids half the day when we were out, lol! But the eating, well....it went by the wayside. By the end it was terrible! But now I am home and I will get back to it.
I was 89.8 the morning we left, I was so pleased to be under 90! But now I'm back up to 91. Though I'm not too disappointed, I was expecting more.
I am not even going to try to catch up with anything! I have missed way too much. I hope everyone is still on track and is going well. I have missed you guys :)
Welcome back 3LM! Great to hear you had a fab time. I'm cheering for you to get back into it now you're home - how does your week look?
Mildez - oh darn that just bites doesn't it. I have fingers crossed for you that it's just mostly fluid & you'll be back down in no time. I LOVE your improvement on pushups, that's awesome! I haven't been doing them, so boy I feel a bit sheepish now. Doesn't matter what you started on, given you're still doing them, you'll overtake slackers like me! I'm sure the sit-ups will go the same way too.
livvy - lol lardy arse, love that phrase. Very karmic that the ginger nut was gone teheheh
SB - it has been a dodgy week hasn't it. I'm so sorry you haven't lost. Have you got a plan B? What do you do if it's not working? Can you research a bit more about the meds to see how likely it is they're having an effect? Have you got a food diary or been tracking to see if you really are eating too much? My DH who has just started trying to lose again has a similiar issue being on meds that are notorious for appetite increase/weight gain. He feels like he is so legitimately hungry, but I worry on his behalf that it's the meds. I've been encouraging him to snack on really low cal things so hopefully that will help offset the meds, however, we've set up a plan whereby he'll seek more help - maybe medical, maybe a food coach - if he doesn't succeed with his first strategy. I think you definitely need to try find a way to outsmart all this pesky stuff. As for the "enuff hours in the day" ... yeah well that's a simple one, there never is! Ultimately everything IS a compromise... spend 5 mins doing this or that? But if you prioritise your body/health over the house & all the other crappy stuff - it isn't easy - but you'll be glad you did it. And your kids will love having that healthy active mummy enjoying things with them more than they'll remember that patch in your life where the house was a bit grottier/crazier than usual because you were busy exercising & getting fit! It's a tough gig tho.
AFM, going ok this week, AF here so that might play havoc. My DH is going well & while his back had gotten sorer than usual it's settled down quickly, so yay, that's a karmic reward! I think he gets scared of making it worse (it's always sore) and so holds back from doing stuff when he needs to do more, not less. I'm looking forward to his b'day this week and feel pretty motivated to eat well. He's feeling really good about what he's doing, much more determined and no longer feeling like a victim (of illness & injury). I'm loving seeing this new attitude... and I so hope he gets some good loss this week, would be a nice reward. I'm also working my little buttzilla off trying to get down to goal weight asap.... aarrrgh so busy, I can't wait to drop my exercise back a bit time-wise! Am gonna cycle tomorrow (sometime - DS is dropping his day nap EEK!), zumba thurs... dunno what yet on Fri. Up & at 'em...
Hope everyone else is going well.
Thanks for the cheer up guys!!
Belfie.. The meds definately increase appetite and fluid retention. I was amazed when I did some research before starting just how much they effect weight. It is kind of nice to know its not just me that failing. that there is a reason. I am slowly weaning off the drugs!! I am down to one tablet. In a two more weeks i cut that down to half a tablet, and then a quarter a day, then a quarter every second day, every third day etc etc until I eventually stop. (they are steroids so i need to wean slowly as I have been on them for over six months) Until I stop it seems I will be flogging myself silly and only losing a minimal amount. But on the bright side, i guess when I stop them I will be used to doing so much excercise that I should lose lots of weight!! lol
I was keeping track of food on the CK but the program told me to stop tracking for two weeks.. when i was tracking i was supposed to eat upto 1650 calories (eating back any excercise too) but on ladybirds recommendation :) I dropped it down a bit and didnt eat back!! My intake was usually about 1300-1400 calories and then i would excercise about 200-300. That was with eating three meals a day and having one museli bar to snack on, and doing about half an hour or so on the bike. So I upped my food a little bit- but also upped th eexcercise and it hasnt helped!!! So I dont know!! Then today i hop on the scales an dI am on 80.5! So thats a loss!! lol I will just keep soldiering on!!!!!
Goot go for now DH needs the computer :)
really.don't.feel.like.cycling.
gonna do it tho.
SB - hope to BBL later to post properly... but ah those meds... that's no fun at all. Sounds like you are doing everything right... and hey, that drop to 80.5 sounds pretty promising!!
I have had a bad week girls... Exercised Monday, that's it. Haven't been eating very well, was especially bad today... Not good. I've joined the Spring Challenge thread though - with the aim of losing 10kg+ by summer. Starts tomorrow - am hoping it provides me with some renewed motivation!
:hello: everyone.
I am returning to this thread - it's been a while  I joined WW in Jan this year and lost about 6 kig in as many weeks but then life got in the way (DP got sick) and we were back to constant travel and I was doing a fair bit of emotional eating so it didn't take long to put it back on :( There are no real excuses though as even though life was crazy, I could have made so many better choices along the way.
Anyway, I am no longer a member of WW but I have the shopping guide and points calculator so I'm starting again on my own. Day 4 today :) If I find I need the discipline of weekly weigh ins I'll rejoin for that but hopefully I can get myself into a good routine without having to spend the money. Unfortunately my washing machine flooded the laundry last night and my electronic scales have died. After not using them for 6 months they die the week I want to start getting re-aquainted
I am still 5kg over my pre-preg weight which is incredibly annoying and I'd like to lose another 5-8kg after that. I'll hve to read back tomorrow to see how everyone is going.
Sterla - now I know why it's so quiet in here... everyone has gone to the spring challenge lol!
Kaz - welcome back, you sound like you've got a good plan... bummer re the scales tho! how annoying. Will you get new scales, or run with measurements instead?
Update about my DH. He did a sneaky weigh-in this morning (day 5) and he's 1.3kg down. I'm so happy for him. He's pushing through his back pain & vertigo issues and is feeling better with the exercise every day (just 20-30 mins at this stage). Yippee, I think the penny might have dropped for him!
Hi everyone...
Total me post coming up as i am sooooooooo terrible at keeping up with this thread, i wish our house was set up differently new that DSS is living with us!
Anyway, i didnt weigh in on Sunday as i 'knew' i would have gained, i havent done any exercise since being sick and DSS moving in, things are really hectic here now and i am finding it harder to manage my time... our poor doggy :(
So today i decided that i NEED to get on the scales, i didnt want to weigh in on Sunday, which is my birthday and find a massive gain, especially as i wanted to get to 70kg by my birthday, that was my first big goal...
Those of you that are FB friends, may have seen that i can get into my pre pg jeans, so i was feeling slightly hopeful that i hadnt gone backwards...
Anyway i have lost, yes LOST another 0.8kg :leap:
That means i am just 500grams from 70kg.... I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hoping that i can get there by Sunday, that will be the BEST birthday present to myself :)
Soory for the poor support i have been giving! i aim to go better
Hey everyone!!!
I have had a very slack week for excercising!!! Eating has been good, but my motivation to excercise has just been completly non existant!! I am feeling very blah at the moment!!! I am much too scared to hop on the scales for fear of a rise, so ignorance is bliss for me today!!!
DH has been home - he is trying to find a job closer to home, and not having much luck. For some reason I just lose my excercise umfph when he is home!! So last week was kind of like on long weekend!!! I think its just cause I get out of my routine and everything!!!
I have also come to the conclusion that while I am on these meds, the weight is really not going to shift the way it would if I wasnt on them (lol does that make sense!!) Which personally can be REALLY disheartening!!!! Putting in so much effort and excercising soo much and getting jack all results is really deflating.. but thats what happened a few months ago, and as a result I put on a good 7-8 kg's because I got all mopey about instead of doing something about it!!! So I really need to stay focussed, and be ok with the fact that the weight may not shift, but that at least with all my hard work, I'm not getting heavier!!!!
I hope everyone else is having a better time!!!! :D
Happy excercising!!!!!
Hi everyone! I have been well and truly off the wagon over the past few days... I did a walk here and there, but haven't been eating well. I'm feeling quite motivated again now though, so back to it! I haven't weighed in to assess the damage, but I thought I might just weigh again on Saturday (my usual weigh in day), and hopefully I won't be too far off what I was.
I really wanted to get a walk in today, but the weather doesn't look good, so I'll most likely have to get on the bike tonight. I haven't done that in a while...
Part of my renewed motivation is that I really need a haircut and I always told myself I could treat myself to a haircut when I lost my first 10kg - and I'm currently about 3-4kg away from that. I have a voucher waiting to be used - just need to get my butt into gear!
Sterla - that's great incentive! And now the weather is getting nicer I reckon it gets easier too.
SB - you are in such the same situation as my DH. It's really hard when you're not seeing the results... but I agree, to get heavier would be even worse. I hope as you wean off the meds you start to see more & more results for your hard word!
SJ - I'm wondering if you got there? And I hope you had a fabbo b'day day regardless... cos either way that 0.5 kg will be coming off!
AFM, well I weighed in on Sat with a 200g loss... but now today (coming off AF) I'm another 200g down (after a birthday weekend yah!), taking me to 13kg lost (19% of my bodyweight!) - so I'm gonna be sneaky & count that loss from this morning. My waist is still 81cm tho :wall: I'd really like to get to that 80cm... or heaven forbid, under it!! So I have been umming & aaahing about my final goal, but got DH to take some pics this morning (bra & undies), and yep, I'm gonna try lose another 0.5 - 1kg then stop. I have 2 weeks to go till DD's b'day, it's a good stopping point. My issue is that I wanna finish on a good note and feel I am where I want to be... and right now I don't feel like I'm there. So I've packed the chocolate & sugar away again for another fortnight lol. Oh and DH's first week loss was 1.1kg and 3cm off his waist.
Hi guys,
Well I didn't make my goal... I went backwards, so now have 1kg to loose  but I had a carefree weekend with LOTS of cheese, cake, fried breaky etc!!!
I don't mind though, belfie, your right, it IS coming off.
SB - medication is a hard one, but if your not going backwards it a great thing, and just think about how much it will just fall off once you are off the meds!
Belfie - awesome and yay for your DH too!
Sterla - great goal/reward to work for :)
I'm off to visit work for lunch today... Let's see how good I can be!
The GReat news is we have tidied the garage and my xtrainer is now accessible, I can't bring it in the house because of DSS moving in, but I can use it out there, not ideal, but a start at least :)
Have a great day every one

Hi ladies,
Hope you don't mind me joining you - I really need some motivation and support to get off my bottom and get fit and healthy again!!
A bit about me - have been overweight really most of my adult life, but definitely the last 10 years (probably started when was working and studying full time with very little time to do anything else, and then on meds for depression and anxiety which made me gain more weight). DH and I started TTC after our wedding in November 2007 without success, and finally in January 2009 I got serious about baby making and joined Fernwood. I was soooo good, and between a healthy diet and exercise I lost 15 kg. The I fell pg after IVF and being totally paranoid I did very little exercise. Put on almost 20kg during pregnancy but lost it all breastfeeding DS much to my delight! Then I became depressed and anxious again, suffering debilitating panic attacks and went back on Cipramil. I've since put on 15 kgs, and although I've gone off the meds I'm still eating like a crazy woman and not doing any exercise at all. So I need to lose 30kgs to get back to a healthy BMI. I'm about to get back into running and started a food diary again this morning, two things I found helped me to lose weight last time. I'd really love to go back to IVF later this year and would like to be in a much better position physically for the journey.
Anyway, cheers to you if you made it through this post! I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing your stories (and weight loss!!)
Lise
ETA - I should add I really struggle with the food side of things, particularly since having DS (who I'm still feeding btw). I have oral allergy syndrome, which means I'm allergic to most raw fruits & vegetables, and also nuts. So my snacks HAVE to be pre prepared, I can't just grab an apple, banana, handful of nuts etc. Not impossible at all, just a bit harder now I have way less time than before ;)
Heeellllooooooo!!!!! Where is everyone? We were so busy there for a while and now everyone is gone...you all must have lives, unlike moi!
Welcome lise! This thread has gotten very quiet of late, but it waas a happening place to be a few weeks ago, lol!! It might pick up again soon.....
I have done terribly for the last week and have gained back the few kg's I had worked sooo hard to lose :( I have gotten back on the horse today though, properly!! A huge yummy salad with ham for lunch, and some healthy spag bol and salad for din dins! Lots of water drunk today, still too much coffee and a couple of the kids bickies though. I have to get back into the right frame of mind again. I am getting there, but still not like I had been before our holiday. Once the kids junky foods (like tiny teddies and muesli bars) are gone, I will not buy any more. The scary (ish) thing is we have another holiday coming up in about 9weeks, so I am worried I will do the same thing I have just done. I guess I will have to work on that. I have 9ish weeks to do so!
I hope everyone is going well!
HI everyone- I am here just feeling really bleh.. got back on the bike (literally) today, still too scared to weigh in as I am sure my week of not excercising has done terrible things to the numbers and I just dont want to know how much!!!! I have been really tired lately, up too late and DD awake too early, plus a bit of depression due to some life things (total rehaul of DH's work situation- he is doing the righ tthing and trying to find work closer to home, but in the mean time its kind of leaving us in limbo. He has an interview tomorrow and another one on thursday so fingers crossed!!!).. but anywho- we are ok, we will be good, its just taking some time!!
So.. Hi lise!!!! I totally hear you on the medication and weight gain!! I have been on oral steroids (a fairly high dose) since february. I have ALOT of fluid retention and puffyness around my face especially. Until the last few months of my new excercise and eating lifestyle change, I gained about 10kg's in that time. I was already about 10ks overweigh tto start with, so my ultimate goal is to lose about 20kgs.. I am ALMOST a 1/4 of the way there (ok more like 1/5)
I work damn hard and get barely any results which is really depressing!!!! But I need to get my head around the fact that if I DONT do all the hard work and excercise that I gain weight, so for me right now, I am learning to be happy and content as long as the number isnt going up!!!!!!! I am slowly weaning off the meds, I have drastically cut down the dose already and hopefully in a month or so I will be off them completley and I will start to see some change!! My food weakness is snacking on biscuits and eating waaaay too many carbs and sugar!!!
I think we have all been a bit unmotivated lately.. I think we all need a :grouphug: a good slap on the butt and we all need to pull our fingers out and get back into it!!!! We will not lose the weight by dwelling on the suckiness of it and wishing it away (I tried that this week, didnt help) So lets do it girls!!!
LETS GET BACK TO IT SO WE LOOK GREAT IN SWIMMERS FOR SUMMER!!!!!!!!
oR WHATEVER ELSE IT IS YOU WANT TO LOOK HOT FOR!!! :D
Lets get back to it!!!!!! No more biscuits, no more cake we are gonna lose some weight!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, thats enough from me.. lol I will get back on the bike tonight and do some more!!!!!!
What are YOU gonna do????
SB - WOO HOO - loving your attitude! In answer to your question, well I'm gonna zumba tonight :)
3LM - good on you for gettin' back on the wagon. And in 9 weeks you can make a heap of progress!
Lise - welcome to the thread! I was so intrigued by your oral allergy I had to go look it up, that does look like a PITA! I'll join you in the food is a pain camp as we have multiple issues in our house - allergies to eggs & nuts (DS), intolerance to all dairy (DH) and fructose malabsorption (me - cuts out wheat, onions, some veg & lots of fruit). So I agree, it's not impossible but it can certainly be a PITA especially when you're busy.... you have to be on your game all the time. I realised I'd used my FM as an excuse for many years. I'm finally stopping from doing that, but it's taken me a long time to get there. So how is the running & food diary going?
AFM going GREAT! I weighed in today (mid-week weigh-in? ;)) and was 0.5kg down from Monday and actually 0.7kg since Sat.... so I have... FIVE HUNDRED GRAMS TO GO! Holy **** I can't believe it. I've also started being REALLY good doing my abs exercises (for muscle separation) and wearing a belly band... and my stubborn waistline is already looking better AND finally measuring in at that elusive 80cm! I told DH this morning that if I I get to within 0.4kg of my goal (i.e. in the lower half of the kilogram) then I'll stop there.
And um...
I look awesome. Just sayin'.
So for anyone struggling with motivation, hang in there, cos trust me - it IS worth it when you get there.
Belfie that is fantastic news. Congratulations. You deserve it heaps from all the hard work you have put in.
3LM I too have gained back a few kilos hence my absense. But this 12WBT (Michelles Bridges) starts next week so FX that helps me shed the kilos I gained and a few more.
hi everyone!
sorry, long time no type... well have been pretty sick at our house the last two weeks. virus all round and then some secondary infections just as it seemed to be easing... ah well. que cera cera right? but we're getting there. have been too unwell to do anything in the way of exercise for about a week so got back into it yesterday with some intervals (did hundreds and legs as feet were too sore to do normal ones) but only got through three and a half rounds (so about 7 mins) before just got too spacey to feel okay about going on. but we'll get there! about to do my ones for today now as was watching rugby opening game, great game! but just thought i'd pop my head in to say
WOOHOO! 71kg! all is not lost, i thought i'd have had a gain given the amount of bread have had... had to actually consciously say "no. you don't need it" as i was just too tired to really think about it and was just going hand to mouth... bad bad BAD!
but yayness! not much but def a strt to get back on track! also had people comment that i looked "great, really great!" and that my weight loss was "really noticable!" so double woohoo!
sorry for no catching up and therefore no personals.. need to get to bed and have hundreds to do yet :) night all!
weigh-in for me today... with 1 week to go till goal weight but it doesn't look like I'll make it next week.
Because...
I AM AT MY GOAL WEIGHT!!!!
:happyforyou::happyforyou::happyforyou::happyforyo u:
I did it!!! I dropped 1.2kg in the last week, cannot believe it. The goals I achieved were:
- To get my waist measurement is finally below 80 - made it to 79cm!
- To get to a healthy weight (BMI) by DD's 1st birthday - which is NEXT weekend.
My final stats:
69kg to 55kg (BMI 22.03) - a loss of 14kg over 26 weeks exactly.
Average of 0.48kg lost per week.
A whopping 50cm lost off my measurements!
- Boobs - lost 16cm
- Waist - lost 22cm
- Hips - lost 12cm
Now to keep it off! I owe myself a big shopping trip, still haven't gotten my reward massage (have a voucher) and generally splurging on myself! Tehehe.
I promise I'll still stick my nose in here & cheer you all on - and I'd like to say a very big thank you to everyone who has been so supportive & helpful during my weight-loss journey - couldn't have done it without you!
And just yay yay yay!!!
That is soooo awesome!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: for you!!!!! You are reinspiring me!!!!!! Please so keep popping in- we need that motivation in here to know that the hard work DOES pay off!!!!
Go and enjoy your shopping trip!!! Buy a fab new outfit for DD's birthday!!! You deserve it!!! :D
wow belfie! way to go! that is just do fantastic! am so looking forward to getting there! 4kg to go til will be officially in the realms of my old weight (67-62 being my old normal, as have never been one to worry about a little natural up and down!) am sure am minutes away from my size 11 jeans now that am a comfy size 12! next step, size 10!
quick question - how do you propose to maintain your weight without continuing to loose and loose? will you give yourself more leeway with your foods or cut back a little on the exercise? have never considered this bit... the getting there is one thing but the staying there is totally another... does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?
good question - I've looked up my calories, and to maintain it on MFP it says about 1750... but that doesn't factor in BF'ing. I figure I'll drop my exercise back to 30 mins a day (and not necessarily as high intensity) and just try to eat well. I was really cutting out chocolate & sugar the last month or so, so I'll let myself have them in moderation now. I'm a bit nervous about accidentally gaining back (especially when she weans)... so I'm still going to weigh in once a week to make sure I'm on track. I figure my healthy weight window is 54 - 56kg. If I start going up towards 56kg again I'll just crack down on the diet & exercise till i'm back in my healthy zone.
Interestingly this last kg or two really came off my belly. I compared a pic from a week ago and there's a big difference. Last week I had a little round pot. This week it's virtually gone :D.
I'm doing yoga twice a day and eating healthy freshly picked (and caught) organic food for a week, plus swimming. Wonder how much weight I'm going to shift.
Im doing terribly. Will be back when I have refocussed :(
Belfie, congrats hum! You go girl!
Same as above :(
Ok, so looks like a few of us have dropped our bundle...
Let's do it together.
What are your goals ladies to get back on track?
Mine are;
No snacking after dinner other than fruit (I know it's higher carb, but I often need something after 2 BF after dinner)
Drink more water or jasmine tea
Exercise once a day, walk, xtrainer, swim or DVD
Weigh in tomorrow to set EOM goal
Track food as I'm better that way!
And just to say again, Belfie you ROCK!

There's too much junk in the house for me to start again today, but tomorrow, definitely! I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and see what damage has been done. I know at least I'm not where I was when I started a couple of months ago, so that's something :).
With me, I find I just can't have any 'bad' food in the house - if it's there I eat it. I need to tell DH this so he stops buying stuff. I'm quite happy to get back into walking, and I need to start doing the bike again, cause I've stopped since I got the pram and started walking instead. Doing both will be more beneficial though.
I'll be back tomorrow!
Thanks for the welcome ladies!
I'm afraid I have to confess to having a crap first week in here :hide: Started with DH having surgery on his hand which is now in plaster/a sling and me over indulging in a little comfort eating to make up for having to do EVERYTHING around the house and for DS. Then we all got sick, nasty tummy bug which I still have. So on the one hand, the tummy bug has been good because I haven't over indulged (!!) but on the other hand, I haven't done any exercise cos I feel crap and I can't leave DS with DH anyway since DH can't look after him with one arm in a sling.
So my goals to get back on track:
*joining Fernwood again tomorrow, including one PT session per week and at least two other sessions at the gym, plus walking EVERY DAY
*food diary. I've never done Weight Watchers, but when I was at Fernwood before I had to stick to a certain number of portions from each food group - I found it worked well for me. I have to show my food coach the diary at the weekly weigh in.
*Keep the house free of bad foods. Including baking ingredients. If there is nothing 'yummy' in the house I have been known to make a cake just to eat the mixture
Question though - i'm still bfing DS, usually three times per day. What impact does this have on food intake?
belfie, CONGRATS on reaching your goal weight, fantastic effort
Lise, I am bfing too, though my DS is only 7mths and is still feeding 2-3 hourly most of the time (day and night!). But according to Calorie King (a website to help with weightloss etc. I should have up to 2000 calories, which I am finding HEAPS! So maybe sInce your DS is only feeding 3 times a day, you could have a little less than that, maybe 1800 cal.
Ok, so back to it for me this week, I have to get control back!!
This weeks goals for me are-
Track my food again with CK.
NO MORE JUNK FOOD!!!!!!
Drink plenty of water.
Eat 2 serves of fruit and 3-4 serves of veg.
Walk 4-5 times this week.
Make up a simple monthly meal plan for dinners.
Short and simple for now. I will weigh and measure tomorrow. So not looking forward to it!
Thanks Lise! I'm BF'ing my DD usually 3 times a day too. Apparently CK adds about 500cal per day, and I found when she was younger, it felt like I definitely needed it. Now she feeds a bit less, I reckon I definitely would not need that 500 extra calories, and over the last few months I was definitely a lot more strict with my food intake (even though not actually counting calories). Reducing my calories didn't seem to impact my supply at all, and I felt fine within myself too. So I reckon go with how your feeling & how your weight loss is going. Allow for a bit extra in your food intake and see how that goes. Good luck with it.
Cheering you all on!!
hey there lise!
i hope this week goes better for you... that must be tough having no hands on support with your little one. my bub is about 6 months older than your but am also still breastfeeding, we've also all been sick with some horrible virus (the spots are just starting to fade... but i think i have laryngitis now!) so my exercise is only just starting up again over the last few days. also am admitting that i had excess bread today AND a teeny bowl of pudding.. ah well. hopefully one lapse won't kill me!
re your BFing question, since your bub is not exclusively BFing and is about 15months (i think?), i found in my case that by that point my eating was way in excess of what i was technically needing to BF. i was still giving 3-4 feeds during the day and letting him suck all night every night (4-7 times i think). i think i was more eating from habit rather than necessity if that makes sense to you, so was basically packing on the pounds... so to answer your question your giving 3 or so BFs a day would probably not give you much excuse to eat more than a non BFing mum.
BUT in saying that, i have not stopped BFing yet, so maybe i'll eat even less when i do. honey, just go with what you feel you need. let your hunger drive your eating rather than a "quota" of x,y and z aspects of a diet. have healthy options but don't let yourself get hungry. you're still providing food for your baby as well as yourself. i went started out with a goal of 1800-2000 calories per day (through an online food diary as have never ever calorie counted before) and then found that i actually only needed about 1500-1700 per day. some days would get to 1800, but some days would only get to 1100. it just depended on my needs on that day. i figure so long as i get all the nutrition i need and am doing it without using supplements or food replacements then how can it be incorrect? am all about the eating of fresh/real/homemade/home grown foods.
i hope that helps... good luck with your journey! it really is the best feeling to hear someone say "gosh you're looking great! well done you!", even if after a week or three you look in the mirror and see no change, you'll get there! don't let your self get discouraged or distracted. sadly there is no quick fix, but it is possible! you will get there! you will hear people say these things to you! you will look in the mirror and think "damn, i'm hot!" just give it time, patience and enjoyment in alternative "treats" like dry roasted almonds or fresh or tinned fruit with yoghurt.
:D
