im no expert and others here can give much better advice....but i think it sounds like your doing all the right things. ive read 1800cals for breastfeeding in the first 6 months so that sounds pretty good to me. well done on the walking/excercise!
i dont think i could say anything to improve on it really!!
the only thing im doing differently is not going on kgs but on cms on my waist...only because i find that kgs go up and down too muchand i get a bit OCD about every 100gs!!
good luck and hope you get some motivation from this thread, its helping me so far, ithink it really helps to have someone to hold your self accountable too...keep up the good work!

sneaks in.... Did anyone notice I was gone?? I am totally off the wagon! I was so sure I was in the right head space to loose more weight  I just can't be bothered cooking let alone making sure I'm within a healthy calorie range. I hadn't put on weight last I checked and I don't feel heavier so I guess I'm still good. I will weigh again Monday and start over again. I told dh last night that I think I need to take my vitamins every morning and drink enough water every day and hopefully the energy for everything else good will come... then he told me that I'm capable of more than that and even plankton can do more than that  so I don't know!
There's been a bit of talk about loosing while breastfeeding. When ds was 6 weeks old I lost 8kg's over 12 weeks on Jenny Craig and they had me on 1800cals. It felt like I was eating heaps of food and DS ws feeding like a trooper, no problems at all. Part of me thought that JC wasn't doing anything and that I may have just been loosing weight because that's whta happens when you breastfeed and after the baby you just loose weight but I was wrong! It's taken months to loose even 5 more kg's. Wish I could afford JC again.

thanks beckoes! i have no idea where my waist was to begin with... all i know is alot smaller than it is now lol! i think it was about 29-30 inches and is now about 32-33... Our scales are a bit dodge luckily so is impossible to be overly critical about self when standing on them so hoping that can make it back to something that is not an NZ 16 in jeans (was 10-11, but am aware that bub did *masses* of damage to that lol, so am trying to go with the flow - had no stretch marks until after he was born which only took 3.5 hours... hence the irrevocable widening of hips!)... or at least loose the food baby whenever i eat!
hmmm... have bought a skipping rope from the heart foundation and am thinking of some ankle weights (1 kg tops) from Trade Me but am pretty broke so don't know if i can justify them...
thank you for your support beckoes and good luck with your cms to go! <3

thanks cherished! also with vitamins, you'd be better to look for them in food if you can rather than take a supplement, like say 1 golden kiwifruit: has more vitamin C in it than a daily supplement and your body absorbs all of it because it's not a synthetic substitute. also helps with the old colon lol! am mapping my calories with the nutritional thing on babyfit
as have never counted calories before so is really good tool although have had to add in food that wasn't there (unbelievably things like apples and sultanas weren't there... hmm.)
but yeah.. sigh. wish it was instantaneous so could see if was actually working. :P

At risk of being flamed *hides* just thought I'd share some research I've just across.
It is healthier on your heart to be slightly over weight but fit as opposed to normal weight (or even under weight) and unfit.
So whilst some people only look to changing food intake to lose weight emphasis should also be on exercise.
Sorry, I may be stating the obvious here, but I was quite happy at having this confirmed :)!

Leesa - I think that's great research, I seem to remember hearing them say something similiar in regard to diabetes too? it's possible to be skinny & metabolise sugars really poorly (or something like that... or maybe I just dreamt it!).
Livvy - welcome. In regard to tracking calories, I've used Calorie King (the aus website is free) and that's good a pretty good range of foods in it, if that helps. So saying, your site might have more info about the nutritional value of foods which would be interesting. I totally get what you mean about being impatient to see results already. Well I started in March and can't believe it's June already, so before you know it, that'll be you too!
Cherished - welcome back hun! It was a bit quiet in here for a while, so glad to see you back. You can do it. I'm interested to hear that 1800 cals felt good, when I do that, it feels fine too. Not like i'm going without or anything.
Well it's a gain week for me today bah, .5kg up. And I had a pretty ok week too - not super active as I was a bit seedy with sinuses/head cold. But I think AF is on her way... and I'm noticing such a pattern in my weight loss. I typically have a gain towards the end of the month before AF, so I'm actually feeling more ok about it than I ever have. And hopefully next week will make up for it in spades! Plus my waist measurement is down 1cm. Boobs up 1cm (I think bubba also wasn't as hungry today).... so I'm determined not to get as rattled as I often have about a gain! So this weeks goals for me are to NOT focus on the numbers, but to focus on my activity & food - and the rest can just follow!
EDIT: I even updated my sig - that's the bit i hate doing after a gain... but today i am strong, strong, strong!

No way Leesa I totally agree with you!!! At my best and I mean energy/appearance including things like skin and hair, muscle tone etc I was around 62kg and was totally smoking! Yes I have also been 54 and 57 and whilst skinny I was totally unfit and didn't look that great in other areas.
livvy thanks for the link... but I'm not sure if you are allowed to post that kind of link on BB so best remove it before a mod does ;) I have used a food diary in the past and that worked really well for me. Calorie king also has an online facility which is free if you wanted to use that instead... it will have EVERYTHING including apples :)
Hello my lovely Belfie! Iv'e missed you hon and Mildez ;) I haven't been up for changing my ticker... I think I will take it off actually as it's just too depressing to change it :boohoo: I might put a little side note re my weight loss as it's not as dramatic as seeing my ticker go backwards! That sucks re the weight gain. Today I AM going down to the newsagents and getting a new food diary! Then I am going to cover it with photos of DS :D I do have an old one here but I have taken the 1st few weeks out of it as they were filled with half a$$ed attempts at doing the diary again

yay! have not stood on scale since monday and it said just over 13 stone instead of closer to 13 and a half stone! kilos are really faded in red so have to get down on hands and knees to see equivalent kilos and i think it was about 83.5kg and had all clothes on so yay! must be doing something right! had pilates class this morning for 45 mins and that is always great fun :)
also thanks cherished, lol forgot that rule sorry!
have a great day everyone!
-
Keep up the good work everyone!!
Today I am 78.9kg - so total of 4.6kg lost in 2 weeks - having af at the moment, so expect to drop a bit more rapidly once she's gone. Measured for first time today properly since beginning measurements and have lost an inch of all areas - yippy!

Hi, I'm new to this thread but have been trying to loose weight for so long now and thought I would see how I would go with some support on here. DH is great but just doesn't get it he has never had to worry about his weight, where I have been quite overwight my whole life :( and due to my weight we cannot concieve and much wanted baby #1. I have pcos which doesn't make things easy, but nether the less I am trying. Will be weighing myself again tomorrow morning and seeing how much I have lost/ put on since 2 weeks ago. Looks like most of you are on track to loosing your weight, and I'm hoping that I can just keep up the motivation to keep loosing my wieght. Since Jan this year I have lost 4kg, I would have loved to have lost more, but I am constently have mind games with myself. Well hoping all is going to work out and sorry for babbling.

hi epayne! am new too :)
you sound rather like you need picking up... you know 4 kg is great! well done you! have been going for a week and i can tell you, has been feeling rather black without my secret packet of choccy bikkies for when am studying late at night..
my sister was told she had pcos when she was 12 so i do feel for you, but remember you're still young so there is plenty of time! how long have you been trying for? have you tried alternative therapy like acupuncture or natropathy? when my sis was given her diagnosis she went to a natropath and soon after was called back for a check up on the results and they did some more tests and said they must have been mistaken as there was *nothing* there to suggest pcos. she also found that by cutting dairy from her diet (by diet i mean normal eating rather than "a diet" in the salad sense) and she lost weight really easily after that - just by identifying her allergy to lactose and milk protein.
am sure you've already been down all these roads before, but thought i'd try and suggest something in case it was an unexplored avenue... hope it helps! :)
-
well, its all happening here today isnt it!!!!
welcome epayne. hope you can find something that works for you and get some support from dh...and bb :) sounds like you have started well...keep going!!! :)
cherished, hi...hope you find your 'mojo' ;)
leesa: i do focus to heavily on diet...have to really make the effort to be more active! good kick up the bum though....as always!! :)
belfie: *well done* for being so strong and having your head in the right place! i recon once you can get into that mind set...you are unstoppable!!!!
ausgirl: way to go on the losses!!!awesome!!
afm: did a big walk today...really enjoyed it, same again tomorrow. diets been spot on, inside my cal amount, no snacking , not drank enough though!! pushing for a better loss next weigh in....so more active...and more water!!!
good luck all!!

It's hard to drink enough water this time of year - at least that's what I find. I struggle to feel thirsty enough to drink the right amount. Summer is no problem at all.
-
i have a big half litre mug next to the sink and it reminds me, but its hard!!
since changing my eating habbits i have noticed how much crap i was eating, i always thought it was dh that ate all that stuff, but turns out it was me! we have so much juice and diet lemonade left and the butter isnt getting eaten and we havnt had to get another milk yet as there is still stacks left, and bread! im actually really shocked that i ate that much and didnt realise!
-
Hi Cherished and Livvy and Epayne :hello:
Im going to be quick as i know i am going to be summonsed really soon by either DD1 or DD2!!!
I had a really bad day on Friday, no breakfast as i felt too sick before presenting atthe conference then i pigged out on the food that was provided - yes there were healthy options but No i did not select them :wall: That night we had Pizza too, although we ordered heaps less than we normally do and i left the table not feeling stuffed, which was good for me :)
Yesterday wasnt too bad, until DD1 found a bag of lollies and i had far too many, but in kindness to myself, i went on a massive walk with the girls and dug over an new section of garde, so got a good let, arms and back workout...
Anyway - today is weigh-in/measure day... i measured myself this morning and got a BIG number (as in big loss) so i have re done it after breakfast as that is more realistic... but FAR OUT i am really really really happy :) .. only thing is, i guess my waist is where i loose it first as my butt lossk bigger now as my waist is smaller
Im off to update my ticker now :D
-
Hi all,
I think I have managed to get into a better headspace to do this....I'm hoping so anyway. DH and I had a good chat last night about it all, and have agreed no more ups and downs, we will talk to each other and really try to support each other because we are sabataging each other, and it's just too hard not to do it together. He has said our budget will be able to stretch to me getting weight watchers online, and some new runners (mine are about 3yrs old...) so hopefully being more focused on WW will help with the diet stuff, and the shoes will help with the walking, lol!
So today it begins...again! I am doing well, mind you it's only 9am! I have thought about some strategies to stop mindlessly eating-
I will eat at the table, and think about the food I'm eating and how I feel.
I will write it down.
I will have a cup of jasmine tea if I'm hungry but shouldn't be, then reassess (having one now!!)
I will drink more fluids.
I will eat 2-3 bits of fruit, 3-4 serves of veggies.
More protien to fill me up.
Walk most days, do some strength exercises most days.
Thats it for now!
-
sj...just looked at you ticker!! WOW your killing it!! well done!!!!!!!
Lilias: sounds like a great plan of attack! i do that, have a cuppa and think about why im about to have a piece of toast with butter...by the time i finish my tea i have either talked my self out of it, made something healthier or one of the kids need attention and i dont have time! either way its working!
i am finding that as long as i fill my cal intake up with really yummy lunches and dinners i end the day happier than when i try to be too healthy and just try to eat salad or something. so lamb shanks again for dinner...they were SO yum last sunday i have to have them again!!!
wishing everyone a great day!
