I'm really not a fan of Duromine..... I used it a couple of years ago to lose a few kilos. My opinion probably doesnt count for this reason, I had a BMI of 24 when I went on it...... I described to my doctor how I couldnt lose the last 5kg or so that I felt were holding me back in long distance running training, and how I just didnt have the energy left to increase the training any more. He perscribed me this

It gave me the "speed effect" for a couple of days.... then nothing...... I lost about 1.5kg but that was because I couldnt stand eating. at all. and it came back. one week later

I did however have awesome results from Reductil a year or so before...... kept me at training weight really well, but I have a feeling that they took it off the market... I would recommend that highly if you can still get it...... it really gave me the motivation to stay at it.

I'm on a new weight loss journey now.... I gained about 12kg after having reconstructive surgery (arm) and having steroid therapy. Ive lost 8 kg so far, and I want to lose 4 more (so I'll be 3kg above my "training" weight)

Wishing all you ladies luck on your weightloss journey..... stay at it, it will all be worth it in the end

Caz, I wouldn't say anyone's opinion doesn't count, they are all valid...and it's interesting to see the differences.

It seems like there are 2 camps, those who had a (relatively) small amount to lose and those who have large, long term weight loss goals. My doctor specifically said she wouldn't prescribe it to anyone with a BMi of 25 (for example).

    Thanks for the encouragement

SageFemme interesting to see you haven't had many side effects... apart from a raging thirst neither have I, knock wood. Even the thirst isn't too bad - I needed to up my water intake big time.

The reason Reductil was taken off the market across the world is because people were dying from it.

I highly recommend you don't use it.

Quite honestly, if you think Duromine is worth trying, do it. You may not have the same reactions as some of the other women on here have. It really does work to help get the weight off and motivate you to exercise.

I have taken Duromine to lose weight and wouldn't touch it again with a 10 foot pole. I suffered mood swings, anxiety and couldn't sleep BUT I did lose the weight I wanted to. I think these things are trial and error, by all means go for it. You won't know until you try.

I agree, totally trial and error. it will work well for some people and not for others. And I think it's important to work closely with your Dr and to also start on the smallest dose. And to cease it it you have any unpleasant side effects.

A Dr prescribed me Reductil when it first came out so we're going back about 9 or 10 years here. I wasn't on it for long, it sent me bonkers. Really moody and I would wake up feeling really agitated and aggressive. I'm glad it was taken off the market. Luckily no such side effects with Duromine for me.

A friend of mine took it every 2nd day as well and had good results.

Please keep in contact with your Dr while you're on it. Also, my dr told me to keep the actual script in the car with you while you're driving because she said it might show up in some drug tests the police do nowadays.
