I am TTC and soon to start IVF. I have checked my BMI and I fall into the overweight category. I really should ideally lose about 5-6kgs and then I would be ok. Do you think I should bother just yet, or wait?
Only thing is if IVF doesnt work I am just putting yet another thing in my life on hold - you know, just in case.
Yeah, thanks for that. I think you're right. I guess Im just concerned as I am not really fitting into any of my clothes right now and its very frustrating. Not that Im particularly big, but its just a pain when you have nothing to wear because nothing fits.
I will definitely do my best to cut down the fats and sugars - although it wil be hard ](*,) !
I know what you mean... my BMI is such that I am right on the edge of normal/overweight. I was worried that being a little heavier would impact IVF. It actually can, from what I've read, as the FSH can be slightly less effective. But even with those worries, I went on regardless and the cycle seemed to work OK. BTW what GonalF dosage will you be on? I was put on 150 given my PCOS and I think that is quite a low dose so probably not surprising that I only managed 7 eggs.
I found that the stress of the cycle meant I ate SO much junk food that I put on some weight during it. I'm trying to do more exercise, cut back on sugar/fat (blah blah blah all the usual sort of stuff) so that my next cycle will work better.
I agree with the others as to a professional opinion. It does help to conceive if your body is close to your ideal body weight so the baby has the best chance.
