New Couch to 5km challenge - I'm doing it! Anyone else want to give it a go?

    That's right,

I said I was going to do the Couch to 5km challenge, and the time has now come for me to stop procrastinating and give it a red hot go.

So if anyone wants to join me (esp the New Year Weight Loss challenge ladies), here is the program:

Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

We can do weekly updates on our progress and support each other to get to the end.

At this stage, I'm starting Monday the 12th of Jan. So c'mon, be game and join me!

What have i got myself in to???

I am actually looking forward to it! Has to be better for me than my coffee and smoke in the morning doesnt it??
It looks achievable when it is broken down like they have in the plan! I am looking forward to making it at the end. I am going to weigh and measure myself this weekend too so i can see how/if my body changes over the 9 weeks!

    Any other takers out there???

It does look achieveable. I think that's what I like about it. And they do say that if you can't move to the next week, you can repeat weeks (which I suspect I'll be doing).

I know heaps of people who have done it, and they all love it, and are stoked to get to the end. I want to be one of those people! Lol!

C'mon everyone else, surely there must be more people who are game to join us? I'm waking at 5.30am because it's the only time it's a) cool enough to run and b) when my kids will still be asleep. But not everyone has to do it at that ungodly hour, though!

Oh that would be fancy Sush, I only have my mobile, but it does the trick. Plus I always feel better round the city with a phone, especially when starting a new exercise routine...

Lol at being fancy! No one's told me that I'm fancy in ages! My ipod is the only thing that keeps me going when I'm riding my spin bike. Yesterday the ipod baterry was dead and I couldn't ride anymore after 3 minutes because I couldn't 'zone out' to the music.

I actually bought the ipod as a pressie for myself when I lost my first 10 kgs. Must think of a reward for when I finish the 5km. (note I didn't say 'if' but 'when! Lol)

I may be interested but also do bike riding and indoor soccer (soccer for fun and ride to work to reduce my emissions plus exercise) so wonder if I can do one session a week and just see how I go. It can only help my fitness even if I dont become a running fanatic. I actually bought some good joggers today because amart has some specials and I need a good pair just for walking as have terrible feet. So I already have the equipment!

I'm not sure I'll be doing 3 days a week myself either, krys. I also ride 40 minutes 3 times a week, and walk twice a week, so I'll probably be only doing this twice a week at most. So I don't see why you can't join in as well!

Hi Sush, I'd love to join you, but I will have to talk to DH first about him being able to watch the girls so I can get out of the house. I used to be able to run 5km and I found it such a great way to lose weight. So hopefully I will join in.

I got around my DH and him being a little peeved about me taking on more exercise by agreeing to run before anyone was awake! Lol!

Good luck Tenille, I hope you get to join us!

I used to run too, and am looking forward to getting back into it. I havent run for over 12 months, and am very unfit, so this is going to be a challenge for me. I love love love running hard, and breathing through the pain, it give me a chance to totally have a clear head, and just to focus on me and breathing, and no thoughts going wild, just me and running....

Captain, I dont have a chance to work out besides at lunch time at work, so I am using this as my freedom time. Early in the day I will have to get the family ready for the day, and after work, forget it, I will be with DS, so lunch time is it for me.

Looking forward to sharing this with you all.
