Laranna,
Your knees shouldn't hurt that much! Are your running shoes right for you? It may be worth getting a pair specially fitted so as to help with your knees.
My clicky knee has turned out to be due to the pre-existing arthritic change, and my Dr reckons that because my running shoes have been specially fitted, I can keep running, but preferably only once a week so as not to exacerbate it. So I'm going to try doing the C25K slowly on a once-a-week schedule now.

Good work Sararose!
Sushee - hmm I'd say my shoes have been worn for mainly walking, not running and they're about 18 months old now. Time to go shopping for a new pair I think :)
That's good news that you can keep running!
-
Woo hoo - I have finally started properly. DH and I did our first week one run last night. And I am extra proud that we were able to easily manage it even with the added challenge of running along the beach. Doesn't it feel good afterwards!
Now I have to make sure we keep up the good work!!

Hasn't been much movement on this thread for a while...How's everyone going with their jogging?
I'm on week 3 - session 3 still to be done. Let me tell you it's a killer. Am actually doing it in the gym on a treamil cause it's just toooooo hot to do it (early morning or nighttime!!!). Should be able to run outside (whihc I think is heaps harder then running on a treadmil cause I live in a hilly area) next week once it get cooler.
Happy running ladies :)

Hey all - I have been sort of following this thread and sort of doing the challenge ;)
Can someone please PM me a link to some ipod-casts - doing the whole 60/90 second split is driving me nuts LOL!!!
-
Rory, have PM'd you.
I had a break for a week as my knees were really sore and finished Week 3 on Friday. Was thinking about starting Week 4 today but think I might start it tomorrow.
-
Hi girls,
I did week 1 twice because I just could not face moving to week 2....I think I might do week 1 again this week ha ha ha I am just so unfit after a whole year with no exercise!
PinkLilly - you live near me I will be watching everyone running around now suspecting that it might be you!!!
-
I am finally doing week 2 now after the heat wave is over. I cant believe it is working, I have noticed an improvement in my fitness already I didnt think it would happen so fast. I never thought I would say this but I am enjoying running lol. My partner proposed on the 8th so now I have an extra incentive to get in shape and fit :D
-
Hi guys, Havent popped in for a while but still keeping up with this. Am going on to the 5th week today. Will jog home. I love the feeling it gives me but cant say I actually enjoy it at the time. lol. I wish I could jog with music but am too paranoid about weirdos.
Anyway glad you are all going well with the jogging. Keep up the good work!
-
I've just finished Week 4, so starting Week 5 on Wednesday.I've been doing it on my cross trainer since my knees aren't taking kindly to pounding the pavement. It's great though because I can read my book while I run :)
-
 Everyone sounds like they are going well!
I had to take a break, but am back into it again. I finally finished week two (it took me three weeks) and am ready to move forward again. Starting week 3 tomorrow...
So Jo, take your time with the weeks, I think that is it the beauty of this program. Move on when you are ready.
And a big Congrats Sararose! :confetti:
-
Ruf - yay for you! I am so taking my time to build up but I am still pleased with myself for actually getting back into fitness! I used to be a complete gym junkie but I had lost the motivation. I actually went running on Sunday night in the pouring rain it was awesome people were looking at me strangely but I felt good and the thought of a hot shower when I got home kept me going!
I am glad my ipod survived the rain I would not be able to go without it!
-
I found yesterdays run pretty hard but was proud of myself when I finished. During the jog parts I concentrated on pumping my arms instead of thinking about my legs and it really helped keep me going.
Here's to us!
-
Hi Ladies.
Currently doing week 5 again!!! Had to take a break for about 2 weeks cause DD got sick and stopped sleeping at night, then I got sick . Anyway, have just done session 2 for week 5, which was hard after 2 weeks of no running at all, but I managed.
Not looking forward to week six...:hide:
-
Good work PL!
I was supposed to start Week 5 on Wednesday, but did week 4 again by mistake! Oh well onto 5 this week.
-
Everyone sounds like they are doing well
I am making sure I complete the week twic before I move on to the next week, so I am only onto week 4 but I am still enjoying it. I just couldn't to the last 20 secs of jogging but Ill keep going til I get there. I think part of the problem is my last run is uphill and I am buggered by the end of it. Monday I might drop the girls at mums and do my run around where she lives as it is really flat  and see if it makes it easier.
I am so proud of myself I never thought I would be someone who would regularly 'run' (well jog anyway lol). After doing my first 5min run I felt so exhilerated (sp?). Cant wait to finish the program and run 5k's what an achievement.
Well done to everyone, especially those that have had to stop for different reasons and have gotten back into it.
-
Hi guys. thought I would post and bump it up.
I am doing well. Have run a few 6km jogs in about 40-45mins which I am proud of. Can now run 25mins straight without being too out of breath so big woo hoos! I have planned out a 10km jog that I would like to try next week.
The only thing for me is that is seems a bit boring! I am going to download some jogging music to see if that helps. Anyone have any other suggestions for keeping boredom at bay during the run?
Anyway hope you are all going really well. Can't wait to see updates. :)
-
I jogged 10kms this morning! Woo hoo! Sure it took me 1.5 hours. A lot longer than I thought but I survived and feel great. Hope everyone else is going well.
-
Well done krysallys!! 10k thats brilliant
I am still on week four  had a few slack weeks but Im back into it and determined that I will get to the 5k mark sometime this year. I am going to play my first netball game in years tonight and its with nets so its going to be interesting lol.
-
Thanks! I probably pushed myself slightly too far and won't try that distance again for another month but still proud.
Good on you with the keeping it up and getting back into netball! I am not really a jogger so to speak although it is such good exercise I wish I liked it more. But I do play indoor soccer and I loooove it. So it keeps me motivated to do the other stuff. When I started playing soccer again in December after 4 or 5 years I seriously couldnt run more than 5 minutes. When I wanted to sub off everyone just gave me this look of disbelief. But now I can play a whole game so that helps keep me motivated. Have fun and good luck!
-
thanks krysalyss, the team lost horribly but they reckon it was the best game I ever played (i think they are desperate for players and sucking up lol)
Anyone else still doing the challenge, I am doing week 5 this week have my 20min run to do next time I run, a bit nervous about it but will give it a go. The challenge is taking me longer than its supposed to but im still doing it so thats a positive
-
krysalyss - 10k!!! that is awesome!! well done :)
sararose - I've had a few slack weeks also (maybe more than a month even  ) I've kind of stopped at week 5, I haven't had a chance to get out of the house to do a run and am pooped by the time DS is asleep so I can do it on the cross trainer.
I really should get back into it especially since I started back with my martial arts training a couple of weeks ago and I need to get fit and build up my endurance again.
