Manhattan - great idea re the bike. I'd be stuffed without mine, and yes, what price this awful weather! Eeww!
Onyx - I'm planning a run tomorrow afternoon (weather permitting) & might have a rest day on Sunday. That's a pain re your plans being changed, but monster abs sounds like a great idea, let us know how you go!
I thought the discussion about exercise types, weights, pilates, yoga etc was very interesting. I'm another one who tends to have a strong athletic build and I reckon I can build muscle a little more easily than I'd like, so this time around I haven't done as much weight work as I've done in the past. I tend to get very frustrated with pilates and yoga as I don't feel like I'm getting enough out of them - but I think that's also cos I'm a bit of a cardio junkie, love a good run or building up a good sweat somehow (so saying, i crank the resistance on the bike). For me, yoga is just horrible hard work with none of the joy lol, even though I must confess I feel good afterwards! (and i'm sure my core would benefit). I did do it for a bit, cos I was interested to see if I could get longer leaner muscle (given I'm a short/compact type)... but no it didn't really change anything, but I'm sure it was good for me. These days my time is so limited, I must admit that it doesn't feature at present!
The other important thing is that as you do resistance work and build muscle, it helps you to lose fat faster. And that's because muscle tissue is metabolically active - i.e. needs calories. So even if you're just sitting there, you're burning more calories when you have more muscle compared to when you have more fat. Add to that - fat is fluffy & bumpy. Muscle is sleek & shapely. So lots of reasons why working out will help you feel better AND lose weight exponentially quicker IYKWIM - the more msucle you have, the faster your metabolism, the more fat you can burn, the fitter you are, the more you can do... and so on & so on! So while I am a cardio junkie, I also do try to make sure I'm doing some resistance work too.
So I'm having a weigh-in tomorrow (on my old time-line, not the spring challenge one). So I'm a bit excited, cos I've snuck onto the scales and I'm getting sooo close to my goal weight. My second goal was to get my waist at 80cm or below (health risks above) and I'm definitely apple shaped. And my BMI at last check was 22.43, so my weight is good, but I've still struggled to get the waistline down. So this week I've been wearing my belly band and doing plenty of abs exercises for muscle separation (which I still have) and I think I'm finally there! So fingers crossed for tomorrow!!! I'm excited!
Wish I had time for more persies, but have been reading & enjoying. Such an active thread!
To the folks who haven't dropped kg's, you'll get there. I reckon doing measurements & kg's is a great way to go - cos often one will cheer you up if the other ain't so great!
And I'll second Onyx's question - so what are you planning for the weekend? What yummy healthy food is on the agenda? I've got a 40th & a 1st b'day party to go to - but with my food restrictions, avoiding the crap shouldn't be too hard :)

Morning everyone. Ive been up since the crack of dawn with my littlest lady! I actually made her throw up giving her panadol. I knew she didnt like it, but I didnt realise she didnt like it that much! I havent been able to do a great deal with a ?sick/teething/clingy baby. I just make sure that I get active with the kids. I have an exercise bike which I try and jump on whenever I can. Its probably the only thing I do, except run up and down the street with the girls as I am teaching the older one to ride with no training wheels and the next one to ride a bike with pedels!
Thanks for the tummy exercises. I need to make up a program that I can stick to and do at home that wont take a long time to do. I dont go to the gym so home exercise is it for me!
This weekend i think I will have to just do bike work because the weather is crap! If it ends up sunny I will go for a long walk. I might be doing my first shift back at work tonight in over 3 years so I need to be careful what I take to work to munch on during the wee hours....
Better run, have a great weekend!

I'm so sorry, I'm going to have to leave this thread.
Because....
I'm at my goal weight! I'm a week earlier than I expected, but dropped 1.2kg this week to get there :)
So I'm super stoked. Actually none of the words I can put down here really do justice to how happy I'm feeling! OVER... THE... MOON!!
:leap::leap::leap:
So my final stats for anyone who is interested/wants some inspiration.
14kg lost (over 26 weeks), BMI is now 22.03.
Lost a whopping 50cm off my measurements.
Boobs - lost 16cm
Waist - lost 22cm (down to 79cm - a huge goal for me to get it under 80cm for health reasons, 2 lots of GD+ insulin)
Hips - lost 12cm
This time last year I was on crutches (pelvic instability) & injecting insulin in the final weeks of my PG. I never dared dream I'd be back to fit & fab by DD's 1st birthday!!! And just yippee yay yay yay!!!
So I'll stick my nose in to cheer you all on! I feel like I shouldn't have come in here cos i've finished so quick, but I hope on another level that it helps inspire you all a bit. Cos honestly getting myself into healthy shape is worth waaaaay more than having a bickie/chips/junk food here & there!

Fantastic effort belfie. You have worked really hard to get there. Congratulations.
-
Woohoo Belfie!!! That is fantastic! :happyforyou: :happyforyou:
-
Wow Belfie that is so awesome and inspirational. Congratulations!!!!!
Onyx - Bugger about your routine. Maybe if it is something that happens regularly you could find a good DVD to do. I used to love doing them and can't wait once we are back in a house, as you can do it anytime, any weather and still keep an eye on the kids.
AFM I went for a 6k walk this morning with Zeuss our dog. Then tomorrow is soccer grand final so I will have a decent workout then. I may have found an indoor soccer team. Still waiting to hear but fingers crossed. About to have coffee and get stuck into some work. DH and DS are out and about getting haircuts.
-
WTG Belfie!!! Congratulations, you've worked really hard for it and you totally deserve it.
ETA - it's fantastic to see a member from our summer thread reach their goal and it's great to see how many of us are still working away.
-
That is awesome belfie! Well done.
I have been to the gym this morning. I did zumba then pump. It feels really good to have decent couple of hours of exercise. Just filled up on my strawberry smoothie/ protein shake. Not sure about tomorrow. Will go to the gym if we aren't doing much but DH said he feels like going for a run so we will probably go on one of those great pram pushing jogs down at the waterfront.
I got on the scales this morning 'cause I thought my undies felt loose , and I was 74.2. That is 1.2kg less than on Thursday. Don't want to get too excited yet, but hopefully the numbers on the scales have actually started to go down.
Onyx, bugger about the routine change. Let us know how you go on that ab workout.
Krysalyss, good luck with that soccer final tomorrow. :)

Congratulations belfie, that is awesome :happyforyou:
Managed to get a 6km walk in this morning. When I left the house, it was all blue skies and sunshine, half way though and it started raining, oh well, that's Melbourne for you :D
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far x
-
Yay belfie thats just awsome hun
Raining days here so nothing happening. Tonight we are putting together 2 beds for the boys so that'll be my strength training
Hope everybody has a good weekend

Way to go Belfie!! So happy for you to reach your goal weight, and yes it most definitely is inspirational :)
Lol @ the girls doing Zumba, and nice work to the ones who do it in front of people! I do it in my lounge, and have remembered that I really can't stand the guy on the DVD, he's awful lol. I don't mind things like Zumba, I used to dance (until I moved away at 18) and really like the whole rhythm of it. I agree about the yoga though, it just doesn't feel like it's doing enough quickly enough.
Berrme, yep, too bad bubs don't come with timers and stop watches to know what's happening when ;) Now that Belley's passed her wonder week though, she's sleeping so well again and I'm getting plenty in.
It's amazing how much difference a few good days make! I'm 700g down from Thursday, so hoping to keep that up. It's horrible weather here today too, so I started out for a long walk this morning. I tried to cut it short after 30 minutes because Annabelle woke up and got really grumpy and it started raining. But I called DH and his darn phone had gone flat. So I managed the last 30 minutes in the rain with a cranky baby. Oh well, at least it was doing something good :)
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!
-
Sounds like everyone is going well, congrats again belfie :)
I just did one of my zumba dvd's, had a couple if interruptions but got there in the end. Haven't done it in a while, worked up quite a sweat! Food has been good today too, think I'll make mushroom and spinach rissotto for dinner. Going to mums tomorrow so not sure if I'll get any exercise in but will do my best to avoid any unhealthy food that may be around.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday :)

Hi guys! Well just a brief check in. We won our soccer final. DS was enamoured with the trophy. So that is great although I didn't get to play much of the game. I don't really know why but it was a bit frustrating, especially when some other players got the whole game on the field. Also most of them play in another team (same club) as well so already had a game this week. Grrrr. I also found out they were having after game drinks this afternoon but I obviously didn't get an invite. Hmmmm. Annoying but oh well. I guess I am glad the season is over.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend :)
-
Congrats Krys!
I am having a bit of a blowout weekend. Friend's birthday today and I ate soooo much. Healthy food, but in volumes. And Friday night girls' night was just a world of chocolate and chips. So bad. We have done a lot of walking but I need to do a serious good workout now.
I did start skipping though. Inside. DD thinks it's hilarious.

WELL DONE Belfie you are freaking awsome woman
Krysalyss fantastic news about the soccer! and thanks for the encouragement ;)
Just quickly as I have a little ankle biter crying next to me who wants to play on my computer but isn't allowed to anymore after deleting my personal files :o Anyway I totally SUCK, haven't do any exercise but have been eating well. Gawd I must pull my ***** together :shakehead:
oh, pls let me know if I've mucked the list up with any of your details :D
-
 Belfie - well done gorgeous woman, so so happy for you.
Will get around to personals once i can catch up on where everyone is at.
My plan of attack is walk 2-3 times a week (weather permitting), clean off the stack of DP's clothes on the exercise bike and start with atleast 10-15min on there a DAY!
The only problem i have is that the actualt machine on it doesn't work so i have no idea of distance travelled etc.
I am going to ATTEMPT to record my CM stat's, have never been able to get the spots right :)
Am cutting out softdrink again and chocolate bars and getting back to my when the kids snack i snack routine - we eats LOTS of fruit in this house but i just seem to be skipping meals again and thats not great for me.
Can't wait to see how i go this time round, bring on the beautiful spring weather and let's kick some butt :)

Well done on the soccer final, Krysalyss!
ZB, I take my bust across my nipples (bra on ;)), waist just above my belly button at the narrowest part, hips are at my hip bones at the front so about half way between belly button and groin, and bum where my wrists sit with my arms down. Thigh measurment is half way between hip bone and knee, and arm measurement is halfway between elbow and shoulder. HTH.
Cherished1, eating makes the biggest difference to weightloss, just doesn't help fitness, so as long as you have been eating well you are still doing OK.
Audax, I would laugh at you skipping inside too. :p On the plus side... if you can skip and not wet yourself then your pelvic floor is doing OK.
AFM, I got up at 5:30 this morning and did a cycle class at the gym. It hurt! I can really feel my bum after all the hill climbs, but it is mostly my groin that is hurting . It has been a while since I have been on a bike seat for any substantial period of time. Will have to take my gel seat next time.
Yesterday was an easier day. Went for a 4km family walk with 2 prams. Checked out the mechanical gym equipment at the park a couple of kms from home. Pretty cool if you can't get to a gym.
I have been eating pretty well so am expecting to see something good when I get on the scales this Thursday.
